According to Bobby, the greatest challenge for the imagineers has been to develope a waterproof tabouleh for the new waterslide restaurant.

Yes they made the area bigger and here is a sneeky peek...

A new sneeky peek...

Wonder if they'll close the one there now if/when this opens. Sometimes I think that one is so empty because it's really hidden away. I know they put a podium out front, but it's one of those places where, if you didn't know it was there, good chance you'd never stumble across it.

Lemon chicken on a water slide sounds awesome! :rofl2:

News! “Tapaz” Waterfront Restaurant May Be On The Horizon at Epcot’s Morocco in Walt Disney World

Dec 22nd, 2012 by AJ.

We’ve got exclusive details from the operator of Disney World’s Morocco pavilion restaurants about a fantastic new development that has been green-lighted for Epcot’s World Showcase in 2013!

We all know about that lovely waterfront event space next to the Mo’Rockin’ stage, right? Well guess what — this gorgeous real estate might soon house a brand new RESTAURANT!

Tapaz Restaurant

Reportedly breaking ground in January 2013, the new Tapaz Restaurant would join Restaurant Marrakesh and Tangierine Cafe to offer authentic Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine in one of Epcot’s most exotic pavilions.

The Tapaz waterfront restaurant complex plans combine 120 outdoor terrace seats with 60 indoor seats to offer guests another incredible option for dining in the World Showcase (and another amazing view of Epcot’s Illuminations, Reflections of Earth, fireworks show).

Tapaz Eats

The food and drink offerings were described to me as a “Food and Wine Festival all year round.” The menu would include tapas, small plates, olive oils and ingredients, and great wines representing specific Mediterranean countries. For example, guests will be able to order a grouping of dishes from the same country, or mix and match to enjoy a variety of different flavors and influences.

Also included in the new complex built on Morocco’s waterfront would be several shops, including one selling the olive oils and other ingredients from the restaurant so that guests will be able to re-create their meals at home.

A small, walk-up window bar selling beverages, cocktails, wines, and pastries would replace the current Morocco pastries kiosk that stands to the left of the pavilion.

Sounds like the France Pavilion expansion and the Morocco expansion are sure to make 2013 a HUGE restaurant year for Epcot!

As always, this information is subject to change and has not been confirmed directly by Disney.

We ate at the restaurant there last Feb. It was the only place we could walk up and get a table for six. The place was almost full. The wait staff was great and we really enjoyed it. It was hidden away though.

We've been able to walk up and get a table at the Mexican table service on the water before too, and enjoyed that. The waitress there was excellent also.

Rumor CONFIRMED by the Disney Parks blog...

mep118947SMALL.jpg

Look for a new waterfront eatery by the end of this year at the Morocco Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot. Spice Road Table will feature various small plates and refreshments inspired by the cuisine of the Mediterranean. With seating both indoors and out, it’s a welcome addition to the line-up along World Showcase Lagoon.

Stay tuned for other “enhancements” to the pavilion and more news on Spice Road Table as menus are finalized.

Sounds like it will be a good addition along the water there.  Another place to watch Illuminations, but will also take away standing room along the water.  However, that won't matter past 2013 as Illuminations is being discontinued after this New Year's Eve.  Rumors online indicate it will be replaced with an all new show (being produced by DaveInTN Productions) to be called "O'hanas Around The World", where the entire Lagoon will become a bubbling jacuzzi fed by hundreds of underwater gas emissions.

That's a pretty small area they fenced off.

How is this going to be a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating?

Maybe they are just putting an addition on to the existing building (a gift shop) and that will be the kitchen, and the gift shop will be converted to a seating area?

I was picturing something like what they built over in Mexico.  This is clearly much, much smaller.

Unless this is just the start of the construction and it will expand over time?

That's what I would guess.  It looks like some pesky trees are going to need to be chopped down.  Maybe that's all they're doing now.  They ought to go ahead and chop all the trees around the World Showcase down.  Who needs shade?  And it will make more room for booths to sell food and liquor.
