  1. I may need to blow up that pic, but are those car wheels & tires at that top of that pic?
  2. Adam, that is a nice floor plan and trailer but I'm going to have to be "That Guy" and rain on your parade. That trailer is most likely not a good choice for your truck. Yes, you have a diesel...yes you can tow all the weight in the world with it but no, your payload is most likely shot and you will be most likely overweight. You need to find the payload/tire sticker on your 2500. It should be in the drivers door. This sticker is going to be your best friend and worst enemy at the same time. The sticker looks like this on my Chevy 2500 which is a gasser: I circled my payload capacity
  3. Interesting plan. Maybe they are retiring to buy a BnB in New England. That could be the only reason I could see retiring north of the Mason Dixon Line
  4. I would be searching for a tow vehicle that could tow at the very least 7.5k You will have to factor in the weight of the trailer plus everyone in your vehicle. There should be a sticker on the camper unless it got blown off by a pressure washer (I don't know what that's like) that lists your particular GVW. If it isn't on the outside there should be on inside a cabinet somewhere. That one looks just like this:
  5. Now that I'm home, here is the webpage for New Green Acres if you're interested. http://www.newgreenacres.com/index.html
  6. On the way down from Gettysburg we overnighted at new green acres. If I recall correctly it is in walterboro, SC Sent from my iPhone
  7. I bet you are familiar with it. It's the most famous ragtime song. And it's from Missouri Here is Jim playing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5mhwBTkBuI
  8. That's Jim. Watched alot of him back in 2007. Didn't get to seem him this past March. In fact, didn't get to see anyone playing a piano at all. I wanted to hear Maple Leaf Rag.
  9. One thing a lot of people overlook when going up in size/weight is make sure the wheels you buy are rated for the PSI your tires need.
  10. She is on Linkedin. You know you want to! https://www.linkedin.com/pub/linda-skywalker/75/253/ab4
  11. My 5er has a GVWR of 8215lbs GAWR (Each Axle) is 3500lbs Combined Cargo rating 1215lbs leaving a "dry weight" of 7,000lbs which is coincidentally my Total Axle Rating. My 205/75R15C tires are rated at 1820lbs which are brand new Carlisles (which made the 2k mile round trip to the Fort.) My 15" Wheels are rated for 1820lbs and a Max PSI of 55lbs (Stamped on the inside) - Total Rating of wheels/Tires is 7280lbs so at least their higher then the axles. My dry hitch weight is also 1215lbs (About 18% of the dry weight) which is most likely close to 1450lbs loaded up for camping. So I figure with
  12. FWG, Lots of people say check tire temps, which is great. My problem and question is what temps do you look for before you get worried. Nobody seems to agree on what the range is for safe temps and what temp do you watch out for regarding potential problems. As for LT tires, imo the attraction is the higher speed rating.
  13. I'm sorry....It's amazing for how little pets are with us how big of an impression they leave with us.
  14. That forced gov't recall would have me tasting bile....and shopping for new tires if I had the funds to do so.
  15. LED lights is what I use for my show at home and I'm assuming they are doing the same thing. The amperage use on an LED string is very, very low.
  16. You can do what my parents did to me for my 16th. Since the age of 8, I wanted a 1980's Blue Monte Carlo SS. So, on my 16th back in 1992, they said they had a surprise for me in the garage. Right there in the garage to my dismay sitting on the floor was an AMT Monte Carlo SS model in the box. Oh, they got a good laugh. 5 years later, bought the real thing and still have it. They weren't thinking ahead back then and forgot I'm going to have a say in what nursing home they go to... >:D  :rofl3:
  17. As for your Westlake tires, they are not known for quality on the internet forums. http://www.carsdirect.com/car-repair/4-tire-companies-to-avoid Brands of Tires to Avoid at All CostsIn recent years, many Chinese tire manufacturers have come under attack for making substandard and unsafe tires available for sale in the United States. Furthermore, some Chinese manufacturers have been the subject of forced recalls by many state Attorney Generals and the Federal Trade Commission. While there are many variations of Chinese import tires that have come under attack, companies that have been the s
  18. Even the Maxxis tires blowout. We had one go on one of the work trailer and the trailer was loaded, it was 95 degrees out and although I can't prove it, the guy never does 65. Most likely was doing 75mph. When I take a trailer out I make sure it's got max cold pressure and I keep it at 65mph max. All ST tires are rated http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=219 Special Trailer (ST) Tire Speed RatingsIndustry standards dictate tires with the ST designation are speed rated to 65 MPH (104 km/h) under normal inflation and load conditions. However Goodyear Marathon and Po
  19. Still looks good for being a work truck in the past. Hopefully it has the 1pc 3 Valve Spark Plugs installed and not the original OEM 2pc Spark plugs. Other then that issue, the 6.8L are great.
  20. Ditto on the body work if it was done right. I wish I could afford to buy a dually diesel crew cab Ram or GM (not the ford as it has the smallest back seat area) and keep that just for towing. I don't want one for a daily driver. This truck now is too large sometimes for daily driving. As for new gassers the GM twins have the lowest stats (hp/torque) on paper but reports say they get better mileage even paired with a 4.10 rear as mine is. I know I have decided to buy a 6.0 gas engine and computer from a salvage yard to build up and drop in my Monte Carlo SS. I have also heard that the
  21. Yes I have had diesels fly by me going up the hills. I was already doing 60. The speed rating of All trailer tires are 65mph max. I learned my lesson twice about going over 65 with trailer tires. Will my gasser do 60 in the Rockies or Sierra Nevadas? Nope but I don't need it to as I don't plan on doing that. As for the mpg going up the hill.......well that is ugly. Going over south mountain i get 5-6. Going up the mountains on interstate 81 in coal country i got 3-4 but I maintained my speed. Sent from my iPhone
  22. Generally that is true. It depends also on how and where you drive. I get 10-11 mpg towing my 29' 5er at 8-9k lbs. that picture i posted hooked up to that car trailer. That is an 18' box and weighs almost 3k lbs empty. I only get 8mpg towing that. Why? My guess is the aerodynamics. As you see it is nothing but a nice big tall rectangle. In town driving which is a lot of my driving, i get 13. On the highway i get 17-18. My boss says he got 11-12 towing that same trailer and he says he got 14-15 towing an open car trailer with a car on it. He has the king ranch F250 i talked about a f
  23. Tim, payload isn't just what is "put back there". Payload includes all of your passengers and any contents you will load in or on the trucks including a dog if you go that route too :). Tongue weight of your TT also is factored into payload. As for the eco boost you will gain almost nothing from it over your armada. A 2500/250 of any mark will tow and handle much better then any 1500/150. Bigger/sturdier frames and brakes on the bigger trucks will make your towing experience much better. You know how sometimes tractor trailers blow by you on the highway and it kind of pushes you around
