  1. Tom, i really need to snap a pic of the trucks hooked up to the trailers at work. The 2009 F250 extended cab 4x4 gasser with a payload of 2400lbs looks better with a trailer on it then the 2015 F250 King Ranch crew cab 4x4 diesel with a payload of 1800lbs. It squats so much It basically needs a weight distribution hitch to hook up to our empty enclosed car trailers. I don't know if the king ranches have diminished towing capacity but their payload is definitely diminished due to the extra options and amenities over the other trims. Here is a shot of my 2015 chevy 2500 gasser with a bobc
  2. Most likely airbags were installed to make it look level. Airbags do nothing for adding payload capacity. A 5er like that is most likely going to have a dry pin weight of 1800-2200 at the minimum. The largest payload for the 2015 rams in crew cab configuration i saw on the lots was about 1750 lbs. that guy was most likely over weight before him and his family ever got in the truck. I'd hate to think it but being a 1500 it probably had P rated 20" tires as well. He'll make the news one day. Sent from my iPhone
  3. Are you actually staying on the island of Chincoteague? Which hotel did you decide on?
  4. If the truck has spent more then 3-4 years here in PA, I would be concerned about the underpinnings and such. The salt and liquid magnesium chloride are more corrosive then just salt by itself. Within a couple of seasons we saw more corrosion then what the norm was. Brake lines and Emergency Brake cables on all makes and models seemed to have been the hardest hit. I replaced brake lines on 4 PA State Police Ford Crown Vics within a year of them using the mixture in that area of our state. The brake lines were not an issue before that. The 2009 F-250 at work is really rusty underneath. O
  5. It looks great, but how exactly did you decide what to order? After googling the phone number I found this thread http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/28388619/print/true.cfm and see they must have different models as this looks different than what you have. Something like this will hopefully make our bathroom more tolerable. It was horrid before I added the oxygenics head.
  6. That's easy.. That's my mother in law's garage. She has many choices for transportation.
  7. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=death+wobble First result for me was a Ford F-250, (not surprised) then the Jeeps and Rams I have experienced the death wobble first hand many years ago while road test driving a Jeep for PA's safety inspection. I thought my eyeballs were going to shake out of my head. None of my GM trucks ever did that nor did any that I had to drive nor were any brought into the shop for that trouble.
  8. Actually the GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) Rating would be the best to know. Every camper out there will weigh more then the dry weight.
  9. This....in a former life I used to be a mechanic... Slush melting and dropping down onto me down the back of my shirt made me get out of it (that and the sheer stupidity of auto engineers - especially Ford and Volvo - It's obvious they never had to work on stuff they designed) but I have seen so much corrosion due to salt, especially brake lines and the E-brake cable. Many vehicles would fail the Pennsylvania Safety inspection due to this.
  10. Tom or Nacole, I tow dump trailers, open car trailers, enclosed car trailers, box trailers for work as well as personal, even though I'm gas, everything is much better to tow all around now with the 2500. The only thing limiting me on the highway is the 60-65mph speed rating of the trailer tires but at highway speeds, tractor trailers don't affect me like before. I don't think you'd gain anything with an Ecoboost other then a higher car payment.
  11. I like to check out Tire Rack .com and do tons of comparisons and read reviews. http://www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/homepage.html You can search for tires by your specific truck, even down to the trim. It will tell you what tire sizes were standard and optional on the truck. From there you can browse until you go cross eyed. Personally, I like the Firestone TransForce HT tires.
  12. I hope that F-150 was a 2015, 4x2 Crew Cab with base trim and Heavy Duty Payload Package w/18" wheels. Other wise he was overweight as the pin weight for that weight is 2000-2500lbs for a dry weight of 10k lbs. If he had another 1k lbs of camping stuff in it, add another 200-250lbs to that pin weight. Then you have to add in the weight from the driver, passengers, pets and other gear. The vast majority of 1/2 tons on the road as they are loaded with tons of options can not safely handle payload weights in that range. There's a big number of 3/4 ton guys on the road who are blowing out their
  13. You're welcome. I can't recommend anything around Norfolk really. Closest I've stayed there was Williamsburg. Norfolk has to be something around 100 miles from the island?
  14. On Chincoteague Island, we liked Comfort Suites the best. One early morning we even got to witness a rocket launch from Wallops Island. However, this time of year, that hotel might be super expensive. On the Maryland side, pretty much anything in Ocean City or Berlin will do.
  15. on the Maryland you can definitely encounter them while driving on the road. Some can be a PITA though because idiots have been feeding them. Some of these horses are used to the vehicles and will come up begging for food. Loud vehicles don't scare them away either as many hot/street rodders will go over to the island during many of the car show evens held in Ocean City. I'm trying to find pics from some of these events where we went over to the island with my one car and we were behind a 69 Camaro that got kicked by a hungry impatient horse. We also have spent a lot of time on Chincotea
  16. No, Chincoteague is actually near the southern portion of Assateague Island. Ocean City, Maryland (sitting on what is officially known as Fenwick Island (Not a real island but a spit) was once connected to Assateague Island but a hurricane in 1933 created what is now known as the Ocean City Inlet, thus creating a true island in Assateague. Ocean City is in the upper part, Assateague is in the bottom. Here is a map showing the whole island and the location of Chincoteague Island.
  17. The wild ponies are on Assateague Island. I've had several interactions with them on both the Maryland portion and Virginia portion. The Maryland side has a nice visitior's center that is great for the kids.
  18. Hmmm, something along the lines of the Little Mermaid cover?
  19. The same thing kept on happening to us in the beginning of March. The CM started to yell after the 4th announcement and then the 6th announcement was in Spanish, after the 7th time a "guest" yelled "listen to the staff you "fn" idiots. I was getting annoyed at the idiots too.
  20. If you can swing it, this is your best option. This truck was new and the one before it was 2 months old. The piece of mind alone is priceless
  21. It happened on the 140th & 143rd. That was a mess and parts of the farm still have ruts from that. Fortunately, the event this year is not held on the that same farm but the one south of the town. We're involved with it every year no matter which farm it's held at. This town and it's road system is not capable of handling the amount of cars it does for beg events like this.
