So glad I started this thread. It actually pumped some steam back into the boards and pulled out some members that haven’t posted in a long time. Now I need to buy a camper...lol

I agree with everyone. Life changes and so do we. I think it comes down to many like myself who says the cost of the fort these days ruined a lot.  I can’t justify $180 a night at peak times for a concrete pad.  We can talk about this forever but I think we all know many people don’t visit the fort anymore due to the price

I still follow along, but since we sold the camper...

I also try not to say much because I have become so negative about Disney. I still love fiends and the happy memories I have here.

unfortunately for me it was due to posting topics and then being attacked by know it alls that caused me to loose interest  I still chat and comment about somethings but I don't get involved like I used to ;-(

I miss the roars of the cars in the morning. Reminded me that I wasn't far from the Magic 

Someone posted this on FB and I replied," thank the maker. Maybe they will hire someone who will follow walts Dream and make the parks for every child and adult (who can afford it)". I got semi blasted by a Disney freak who tried to explain big business to me and she ended her reply with," you can't blame Iger for the condition of the parks, he's an executive and doesn't spend time in the parks. He has more important things to take care of and works from his office. That's why he has managers."  What a dumb a**. I'm with TCD on this

I really hope the average joes of the world like me that is not camping at the fort anymore due to pricing starts to make a dent in fort profitability and opens up more reservations but I don't forsea that.  The pricing went up due to supply and demand. Disney knows holidays and weekends are usually booked full and Sunday through Friday, other than a holiday week can be like a ghost town.   So....raise your prices high to compensate for empty sites during the week and target the families with disposable incomes.  The fort has become a popular destination now since many people are realizing that you can get most all Disney amenities without paying the high price of a resort.  They will never build more sites unless the fort is booked all days. I believe the only reason 2100 loop was converted was because they have even a harder time keeping the cabins full 7 days a week.  Cabin prices are a joke unless you have a large family or your splitting the cost with family or friends. Us as a family of 4 is ridiculous to spend $400 a night on a cabin.   The cabins should be considered a value resort and priced accordingly. I'm  so amazed a topic I started got so many replies. Usually nobody responds to my comments...lol

I started this topic so I guess I can be one to blame....lol. We love Disney and we wished our family could be like TCDs one day and still enjoy the parks and the fort when my kids were in their 20s.  But, it does not look like that will happen.  As some of you know, I can come off like a complainer or a Debbie downer more often than I should. I run a large organization and am number one in my market because of a few things. Customer service being one, training employees the proper way and holding people accountable to rules and regulations......while also making a high profit margin line.  It's not rocket science.  It business 101.   Disney looks at it a bit differently. If you cut staff. You do it in a way you save money without a lack in service and the guest have no idea and don't see it. Disney cuts staff and it shows to the guest but they know that the guest that get pissed and upset will just be replaced by guest that don't care.  Look at walmart, scumbag capital of big box stores.  People don't care.   You get my point. 
I will definitely miss the fort and camping there. Maybe we could be classified as locals who can come for the day and use the pool.  NEVER.  That's not following the rules.  I make a good living but $1400 for a campsite for 7 days just can't fit in our budget anymore. TCD hooked himself up right by being able to score CM pricing at the fort since his daughter works for Disney.  Lucky you.  And also the great busdriver known as Lou back in the day would also cash in on that CM discount.  We will still eat at trails end from time to time and who knows with me. We may get another RV a long way down the road.

We will lose many lives and there will be catastrophic damage somewhere in Florida.  I have been through many hurricanes and I don't usually freak out, but this has me nervous. Many Floridians have put there guards down since we had so many quiet years. If you can leave and have no job commitments here, go.  Get out of this path. For those of us who need to be here to take care of those who can't take care of themselves, pray for us. Be safe and Godspeed

I'm here now and it's like night and day since the weekend started. Cars parked everywhere, music blaring from golf carts, looks to be under age kids driving carts. I'm pretty sure we won't be back for a long time. The prices are getting past anything we can afford and it's like we are second class to the rest of the resorts. Much less the riff raff going on. The restrooms aren't being cleaned. Yea they come in and pick up and maybe wipe down the sink area but that's about it. I see the same shit on the walls for 2 days and that's after I called them about it. Well if they were getting cleaned properly it I wouldn't have had to call to start with. Then they removed a stall door and just left.  Again I called and asked if maybe they might find one somewhere else and put back on it. The shower stalls don't look to be getting any cleaning either. Just my small rant for what it's worth. 

Once again not so much the most magical place on earth anymore. Being a local, I think Disney is turning into being enjoyable for the families that save up for years for that once in a lifetime vacation. The ones like us who frequent often start to notice the cuts and imperfections and start to get mad. The once in a lifetime vacationers can be fed dogfood and they will think they are in Heaven.  These are the people that make Disney money and drive the rates...and the cuts. 

Why not just move it over to International Drive into a Shoney's?  Throw some characters into Shoney's and no one could tell the difference.  

Awesome quote. Yes we are talking about the fort and not other campground. I don't care what other campgrounds charge.don't go there either if you don't like the price. And you can't compare California stuff to Florida. Hell, look at Disneyland compared to Walt Disney World. I agree 100% on returning customers. Hell, again it's a campground people.  We are the 5% the camp predominately camp at the fort. Again we are lucky enough to live close by. As a lot of people say, you get spoiled after staying at the fort.  As I stated before, we sold our camper for two reasons. One, the fort is just out of control with prices and rule breakers. The second was my kids wanted to go other places other than the most magical place on earth. In my opinion, it's not the most magical place on earth anymore.  Look at what they are doing to the Star Wars franchise. Again, in my opinion they're ruining a good franchise that let just enough movies and items out in the past and are now over saturating the franchise to the point where it's going to crash and burn, but make them a butt load of money    And while I am on a rant, who in their right mind would buy a one day ticket for Hollywood studios these days. You might as well just put money in an envelope and send it to Disney. 

Great dream, but it will never happen. We can't get a cart bridge from the meadow post to the bike barn and they can't figure out that the restaurants at the lodge would make a ton more money if they allowed carts to drive to the lodge
