See... I just don't get that.
We've only done one day at the parks (MK) in the past 18 months, but before that had APs back to back and I remember often walking around thinking that some areas looked really sad.  They just needed a good scrubbing, a few boards replaced, some new paint... nothing huge or too terribly expensive, just a little work that (I figured) was tough to do with the parks busy every. single. day.    Now they've been empty for days and days and no work is getting done?  That would be a shame

DeSantis just mandated that they self quarantine for 14 days...  NJ included
New Yorkers flying to Florida amid stay-at-home order ...
www.wesh.com › article › new-yorkers-flying-to-florida-coronavirus     8 mins ago - Gov. DeSantis said “huge amounts” of New Yorkers are flying to Florida ... who travels from New York or New Jersey to Florida to self-isolate for ...   EDIT:  He just announced that the "SELF QUARANTINE"  will not be with family members and he is mobilizing the necessary staff to meet all the incoming flights.

I've stopped clicking on any of them.
    Because this exactly.
Seems unlikely.  It may run its course, similar to the regular flu virus, and then peter out,  but like the regular flu, it could resurface next "season".
That's why they're saying that while a vaccine is unlikely to be ready in time for what's happening now, it will seriously help when this thing raises its ugly head next time.

Am I the only one that is getting aggravated about these various blog sites posting their theories about when the parks and hotels are going to be opened, and how they will allows guests back in?
All it’s doing is riling up people and spreading false information around.  The Disney fanatics are going crazy out there making plans and speculating either further about opening dates.
Until word comes from Disney these “supposedly reliable” sites are doing a disservice to everyone and should be banned from Facebook and have their sites blocked.

Had to laugh out loud, really loud, about the driving I-4.
YES teachers are not paid anywhere near what they are worth.
A few weeks ago I was ticked because someone was treating me like a little old lady.  Then I remembered how old I am(78) and thought,
Oh yeah, I am a little old woman, sometimes I'm a lady

Hopefully enough people realize that what is being done is a necessity to protect the majority of the population.

I'm also seeing too many people sharing b.s. "cures" on social media, that and random posts from someone they don't know whose cousin's uncle's neighbor's dentist's sister-in-law's massage therapist, a reported expert in pandemics, has a laundry list of completely inaccurate "facts" about COVID19.  The one I saw yesterday (shared by a family member) claimed that taking a few sips of water every 15 minutes will wash the virus into your stomach where your natural stomach acid will kill it.
Um... that is NOT a thing. 5 seconds on Google debunked that one (and a bunch of others) from an actually reliable source. And sharing stuff like that will only make all of this worse if people believe it and do stupid things that will help spread this. In this case this was someone who is smack in the demographic of people likely to be the worst effected by the virus, and who was still having regular random visitors to their home until we nagged the bejinkies out of them and got them to understand that social "obligations" can wait for a few weeks.  (sigh)
100%.  DH and I were talking last night about what we can do to prepare for the fact that one or both of our incomes may very well be effected.  It's scary but I kept reminding him that EVERYONE is going through this to one degree or another.  That doesn't fix our situation, but it does instill some sense of... well I'm not sure exactly what but it's oddly comforting in some way, knowing that we're not alone.
Now to get my elderly parents (one with a lung condition) to understand why if we come by this weekend to fix their stove and drop off groceries, we're not staying for dinner and will ask them to stay in the other room until we clean up and leave.  Wish me luck!

DisneyLand is donating perishable foods to a food bank out there during the shutdown.
At least something good is coming out of this mess.
I guess since DW resorts are still operational, a lot of the parks foods can be used at the resorts.

Well at least they can paint the castle during the day and have it done before they re-open.
And catch up on maintenance for all the rides that keep breaking down!

We've done the border crossing dance numerous times over the past three years and you never know what the "rule of the day is"-LOL! The written rules are just a guideline that includes the word, "may". All depends upon the mood, friendliness, and political persuasion of the border agent on both sides of the border. As a general guideline, and it doesn't matter if it's a US or Canada crossing, we avoid having any fresh produce, meats or dairy in the refrigerator. Also, they don't always ask the " produce, meat, dairy" question but if they do answer honestly and be prepared to drive to their dumpster and throw away any "fresh" items. Or, in some instances they will ask to "take a look around" and do exactly that. Crossing is easy just as long as you don't try to second guess the food issue or go crazy trying to interpret the guideline in your favor. Have a "border crossing party" the night before you cross, eat what you can (save some for breakfast), and share what's left with your camping neighbors. Better to share than to throw it in the dumpster. Bon Appetit!

No... Tom doesn't meet us until after Banff    I know we've made these trips before, but each time I miss him more.  Stinks.
We are going to get a notarized letter with dates and his permission for the kids to cross the border with me.  Crazy world we live in

Wow. I didn’t know it was that bad. I wish they would move to a system like they have at Disneyland where all FP’s are up for grabs once guests enter the parks. This 60 day business allows guests to game the system,  and then the park experience is ruined for everyone.

Tried to book a FP at the 60 day mark and they were all gone.  So was smugglers run, toy story mania, slinky, and alien saucers.

I really wish they would get rid of all FPs!

I’m glad that the TCD gang got to enjoy MNSSPs back when the price was reasonable, attendance was low, and things were simpler. It’s not fun anymore. And it’s a colossal ripoff.

So for WDW, what would the best solution have been?  Considering the difficulties in getting this ride online, on both coasts, should they have waited until they could have done the CM previews in order to run high demand stress tests?   Even if the ride at DHS was operating at full capacity, the BP option is still better than opening with all standby lines.  Not having to wait 2, 4, 6 or more hours in line is a good thing, to my way of thinking.  It doesn't matter if the ride is running perfectly.  Because it is new, it will still have a huge demand on it for a number of years.  Look at 7DMT.  That's a kiddie coaster.  In any other park it would never have generated a 20 minute line, much less the 3 hour lines it had the first year of operation.
I don't believe there is any scenario where the opening of RotR would not have been some sort of s**t show.
I apologize for the error of thinking the CM's, both current and retired, got preview rides.

I am ok with the BP system. I just wish they would keep the park open late enough to guarantee everyone a ride that day if they got there within the first hour of park opening.

I left Fort Wilderness on Friday, February 14, 2020 after a month long stay (sigh). We bought bikes at a pawn shop. We left one of the bikes for anyone who would like to use it in a bike rack behind the now defunct chuck wagon at the Campfire Singalong ( near the 1400 loop comfort station). It is a blue, single speed, old fashioned Huffy bike. I would love for the bike to be used and then left for the next campers who need it. If you see it or use it please tag me so I can know if it’s still there- FW may dispose of it. Thanks and I hope someone is able to enjoy biking at the Fort.

I did that years ago when I was out at a postal school in Norman OK.
Got a cheap 3 speed at a yard sale and a lock, then told my co-workers that were heading out to school after me where to find it locked up and the combo for it.

Retired cast are blocked out of HS through April and I won't be surprised if the blocking goes all summer.  I want to give a big THANK YOU to the WWz who got together and bought me a ticket to HS so I could join them last Saturday.  I had a really good time and was thankful for the ones with experience and fast phones so we were able to ride.  I look forward to the days when WDW gets the ride working consistently and has something newer to draw people away from HS.
