  1. Well, I'm on scene and just got off. What mermaids? Is there something I've been missing all these years???
  2. The guard at the shack checked my name on the list, but sent me to the reception lines. No check in there. There were two line open, so hat was,in my favor, but TCD is right, without a dedicated line it could still hold you up. Maybe after the construction they may do that? Today the computers were not working in the drive thru lanes, I think because of the construction. That would have been a killer if someone was not pre checked in.
  3. Well, no text message.... I was starting from Exit 104 on I4, just east of Orlando. I left the campground at 8:30 and a few minutes after I hit,the road I got an email alert from Amaerican Express of a "card not present" charge by Disney for the balance of my stay. They know I'm coming. I arrived at 9:30 - no one in the drive up lanes. The CM verified my name with my drivers license, asked if I had been to the Fort before. When I said yes he said great, 1938 have a great day. So, the on line check in did save me time. As I started to drive away he stopped me and said he forgot to get me to si
  4. I can't stress enough - if you are ever in the San Francisco area you have to check out the Disney Family Museum. http://www.waltdisney.org/
  5. Well, I guess I have to check out Jellyrolls next weekend as I've never been there. But, back to Jock Lindsey's..... It looks neat and I will check it out. How much has Disney spent to re-imagine this area over & over? Please, give me back the Adventurers Club! But, alas - I know it is never to be... The AC can only work inside an area you pay to enter. It just has too much overhead to be supported by drink sales alone.
  6. Well, when I'm towing the big camper getting into sites with vehicles right out to the edge of the road can be unnerving. So far I have never had to ask someone to move their vehicle, but I have watched others who were having difficulty. That, and the folks who think as long as one tire is on their pad they are OK with the back of the car/truck partially blocking the loop.
  7. I was doing some searching and stumbled on this old post. Well, two things have happened - No DVC at the Fort (yet) The Epcot Explorer Encyclopedia is now a dead link.. I had to go to the Wayback Machine to see the page. https://web.archive.org/web/20140422191011/http://www.epcyclopedia.com/2012/04/02/walt-disney-world-fort-wilderness-dvc-files-to-start-construction-soon/
  8. Well, I have already completed online registration for my arrival next week. I did sign up for text notifications as that is "optional". I will report if I get anything in advance.
  9. Well, we will see how it goes. Just did on line check in for arrival at the end of next week.
  10. Thanks Carol. Right now my plan is two "carry on" bags, both rolling airline carry on bags. With the new alcohol policies each of us will have two bottles and we are waiting for a response from other adults to see if they will bring more bottles for us. We will get a wine package so we can have a bottle with dinner each night. Not sure on excursions at this point - not sure what we want to do. Questions we have - What on Castaway Cay is included an what is "extra"
  11. Well, when I retired I traded in my Fleetwood Niagara Pop Up for a 35' travel trailer. Over teh past 18 months we discovered the big trailer just did not fit "most" of our camping sites. We like going into primitive campgrounds or even dispersed camping out in the National Forrest. Well, last month we found an Aliner Expedition that we loved. Set up is a breeze, much easier than any previous pop ups. The biggest con was at the ends where the "A" meets the box. You have to be careful not to hit your head all the time. Now, the one we settled on was a model that had "dormers". I'm not s
  12. OK, time to start planning. I've got a 7 day booked on the Fantasy with family in December. I booked a 05E-GTY and my room assignment just came up - Yup, I got what I wanted. Nice big veranda looking dead astern of the ship. We had one of these cabins on our Alaska cruise a couple of years ago (RCCL, not DCL) and loved it. As a matter of fact all three siblings (brother, sister & myself) all have 05E cabins. I have already booked a sleep/park/cruise room near the port for the night before departure so transportation to/from the port and parking are covered. So, what do I need to
  13. I have loved those signs for years.... We traveled between Florida and North Carolina twice a year and i loved looking for them.
  14. While I don't mind a long drive on the way home, on the way there like AR I dont want to arrive tired and going ion to sleep/crash as soon as I get there. I have used the I-95 Florida Welcome Center as a stopping point several times. I try to be there by 10 PM so I can be up and on the road rested by 6ish. Figure 3 hours from the resat area to FW drive time and I really want to be through Jacksonville before rush hour if it is a week day. If I add in a sotp for fuel/breakfast or whatever that puts me at the Fort a little after 10. I guess I'm lucks, because I've never had to pull into th
  15. Very nice!! I'm glad to hear that the new owners of Peco are handling customer servcie like the old owners.
  16. FW wants to make it nice for the locals who visit the pool.
  17. 387 Miles would put you at Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages http://fayettevillervresort.com/ I have never stayed there, but from their web site it appears they are over half pull through and they are just off I-95 a little north of Fayetteville, NC. When we lived in Annapolis, the worst part was getting below Richmond due to DC/Richmond traffic. It finally got to the point we would get up super early to miss the rush hours and get south early.
  18. Well, for a long time I was responsible for a fleet of about 300 cars. Mostly domestic with a couple of foreign jobs thrown in. The Chrysler/Dodge products were the first to succumb to debilitating issues that caused their demise. GM products fell off next and Fords held up the best. But, as Michael said, all are man made and you can have problems with any of them.
  19. well, heck - without the fancy schmacy graphics isn't that wasn't that what I said?
  20. I would really love for them to reopen the Adventurers Club. Sad, but it will never happen.........
  21. yea, they make it happen. I researched this also, but found the stock 28 gallon tank works out very well when towing. With the 35 foot trailer I still need to stop regularly and hit the head or stretch my legs. I love my toys, but found I didn't need this one. Are you a Good Sams member? If so you can sign up,for a Flying J/Pilot RV card. It gives you 6 cents off the cash price at almost all Pilot/Flying J locations, but the biggest benefit is that it starts the pump at the truck islands without going inside and leaving a credit card. The only downside to the card is that it has to be tied to
  22. The full hook up sites are 1600, 1700, 1800, and 1900 loops. While all four are accessed through a side road, 1600 & 1700 are the closest to the Meadows. 1600 being the closest as you can cut through the comfort station shared with the 1500 loop, cross the street and and you are at the Meadows. Depending on where your site is on any given loop the distance form the Meadows follows the loops numerically, 1600 is the closest and 1900 basically the furthest.
