  1. I have no problem with your set up. We have an Aluma trailer for our golf cart and there is no way that trailer is staying anywhere but behind our motor home when we're at the Fort. It's small, it fits behind the MH & it doesn't bother anyone. And for those of you who don't think trailers get stolen, one of our neighbors had TWO aluminum trailers stolen from the overflow lot. They were both chained and had tongue locks. Because they were aluminum and light weight - they were easy targets. I also have big time problems with people who park their trucks in such a way that they hang out into
  2. When we had satellite service (Direct TV), we always carried the portable dish just in case the roof dish signal was obstructed by a tree. That happened to us a lot at FtW. Our Travel Supreme Select MH did not have the outside hook-up either, so we just ran the coax thru the driver's window, hooked it up to the receiver & shut the window very tightly. It worked just fine. Finding the right site for the roof dish at the Fort can be a crap shoot - as you probably know. Bring the portable dish as a back-up and a lot of coax. We finally gave up on satellite service at home because we got sick
  3. I know a lot of people will think this is "cool technology" until they get their "cool envelope" at checkout with all kinds of crap charged by the kiddies at the food courts. I'm not a fan of RFID technology. You need to have a modicum of discomfort when you pay with plastic - either a PIN # or a signature - that one final opportunity to obey the voice in your head that says: "STOP!!"
  4. Congrats, Lou!! Wear your pin with pride!! We knew all along that you were an Animalbus!!
  5. Have your doc's been watch House on Fox? Everyone on that show is diagnosed with sarcoidosis sooner or later! It's the "disease du jour"!! It seems when doc's don't know what to call something it's either "sarcoidosis", "fibromyalgia", or "lupus". I call it "get the hell out of John's body", already, and leave him be!!! :argh:
  6. I don't know if this is the link you originally posted, but here's another link: Concrete Canvas Shelter
  7. Suuuuweeeeeeeet!!! You're gonna love it!! I looks like there might be a slide in the living room?? Suuuuweeeeeeeet!!
  8. As of 6am 8/3, the sustained winds are 50mph and going through Hispanola. Not a major storm by any means - heck - we've had worse "no name storms" than that. The WRF model (most accurate model) has the storm staying well off the east coast of Florida and blowing itself out in the Atlantic. Of course, that can change in the course of 48 hours, but unlikely. Because the storm is staying east of Florida, it will cause the state to be sunny and hot. The storm sucks all the clouds and rainfall to itself like a magnet, leaving everything to the west, clear. The worst thing that will happen at the Fo

  10. Let me let you in on a secret. What Disney doesn't know won't hurt them. We were evacuated to POFQ when a tropical depression hit the weekend following 9/11/01. I sneaked our two kitties into the motel room in their carrier covered with a rain poncho. I'm sure I wasn't the first or the last to do this! In retrospect, we should have just cranked up the genny and stayed in the MH with the cats. Cats do not like unfamiliar territories. (as in - there was a lot of meowing going on all night long :rofl2: )
  11. Typically, the temps are reasonable in Florida during Christmas to New Years. By reasonable I mean low 60's to mid 70's and even into the low 80's. Last year our winter was very, very freakish. Just keep an eye on the 10 day weather forecast before you leave and you should be well prepared. Normally a good sleeping bag or electric blankets will keep you toasty in a tent.
  12. The last time I ate at Whispering Canyon was back in 2008 (after dining there several times, previously). It was "okay", but no where near worth the price and no where near as good as it once was. Like everything else at Disney - the quality of the food has gone way down. Being so close, we used to go to some restaurant on Disney property once a week. Since the inception of the dining plans we found the quality decreasing as the non-plan prices, increased. It's too bad because Disney dining used to stand head and shoulders above other places. Last Saturday we went to Captain Cook's at the Pol
  13. Don't fret about it. At this point they don't know where it's going to hit, but all the projections are putting it off the coast of Florida and looks like it will make landfall somewhere in Georgia/South Carolina - if it doesn't fizzle out first. The worst that will happen will be that you will be evacuated from the Fort and put up at either the All-Star or Port Orleans. NOAA always hypes up storms and the local TV stations really sensationalize them!! Go ahead with your plans. All will be well.
  14. Watch out, TCD!!! They might just serve this... :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:
  15. We went to the Melvin the Moose Breakfast in October 1987. That was the one and only time we went because the opportunity never presented itself again. We enjoyed how cute the show was. In December of 1987 we sold our TT & were RV-less until 1996. The only reason we got an RV in '96 was because we went walking through the Fort one day and saw someone coming in with a "happy to be camping" dog hanging out the driver's window. We didn't know pets were allowed - so I went to the front desk and asked. Yep!! They had 5 loops just for pets!! :jumpforjoy In January 1997 we and our kitties occup
  16. My DH pondered why the All-Star resort was chosen to test this system versus any other resort. He thinks the Disney "bean counters" have carefully tallied the amount of soft drinks/coffee/tea used per guest at all the resorts and determined that more drinks are consumed per guest at the All-Star resorts than at any other resort. It's as good a guess as any, I suppose.
  17. You are da busman!! Pin? You don't need no stinkin' pin - unless you plan on selling it on E-bay!! :rofl2:
  18. There are a couple of ways to get to B&Y from the Fort. 1) Hop a boat to the MK and go right to the bus stop area. Look for the B&Y bus stop and grab a bus. 2) Scenic tour - take resort boat to the CR. Hop the monorail to the MK, go to the bus stop & grab a B&Y bus. Or - you can take a relatively short walk from the CR to the MK bus stop. 3) Take a bus from the Outpost to DTD. Get off at any one of the DTD bus stops and grab a bus to the B&Y. I'm a fan of #1. I'm not a fan of crab legs because it's too much work for such a little reward. I can't tell you if they are hot or
  19. Dave - Your home and your hearts will never be so full that there isn't room for just one more!! Love you guys!
