  1. Welcome and as far as tents are concerned, go big. Its hard changing clothes while lying down or on your knees. You may also want the room to use air matresses or cots or to keep a cooler in the tent for late night drinks. Once you zip up for the night you don't want to go out to much because it is an opportunity for Mosquitos to get in. The best tent I ever owned was a Eureka. I had a Coleman screened in canopy that I sold for $10 because it was to difficult to set up. I have seen tents on every kind of site the fort has but you shouldn't need to pay for a sewer hook up unless you plan
  2. I love that ride. Its the only one that ends when you want it to and not when they want you off.
  3. 305 and 316 are my favorite. I tend to avoid the sites that are in the middle of the loop and prefer those that are on the outer rim from 301 to the dirt road entrance to the canal. But that's just me. I don't want to be near the comfort station.
  4. Many manufacturers recommend NOT Using a pressure washer of any kind. I did not know that until I took off some paint from the edge of my cargo doors on my Class A. I understand the temptation to use a pressure washer but the water leaks and damage to edged surfaces is not worth it. JMO
  5. Well, my DD talked me into signing up for the 5K on Friday. It only cost $75 for the pleasure of running around epcot and not riding anything. But I just got the real shocker today when I made my reservation for the Fort. $136.00 a day for the full hook up sites. Ouch. That does not include a golf cart rental of $60 a day that you will need to get to those sites in the 1600 and 1700 loops. Double ouch.
  6. Thanks for the video. Looks like I have to put that park on my list. Coming from Miami, there are two other state parks you can try. Sebastian Inlet and Jonathan Dickenson have excellent facilities. Jonathan Dickenson is only a 2 hour drive but you have to drive to the local beaches which are top notch. Sebastian Inlet has its own beach but you have to walk to it. At certain times of the year the no see ums will chew you up and spit you out. They both have full hook ups and 50 amp service. While Jupiter is a nice spot to explore, St Augustine is far superior. Sebastian Inlet is only 1
  7. Wait for a sale at Camping World and get the plastic ones. I've used both until I used the wood ones on the campfire when I ran out of firewood and the grand kids wanted to roost marshmellos.
  8. Best Pizza in NJ is from Forte's on Bloomfield ave. In Caldwell. Although it is hard to find a bad pizza place and I've tried. To many Italians up there who won't put up with bad food. I just came back from there today and I think I gained 6 pounds.
  9. Let me defend my home state. It is no hotter than summer in New Jersey, but the humidity is always near 100%. I stayed in NJ last summer and found it just as hot if not more so. In FL the electricity is more reliable and you will have 50 amp service to run 2 A/c units if you need it. I couldn't find that in Northern New Jersey. Some other pointers include coming back in the afternoon to nap and swim. It almost always rains in the afternoon in FL so it is best not to be in a line when that happens. They also close the open air rides when there is a hint of a thunderstorm. That also hap
  10. Any advice on how to correct this angle would be appreciated.
  11. You don't need to be driving a big MH to get lost in Maryland. You just need a bad GPS. Last year I drove an equinox trying to get to NJ that night and got lost in Maryland around Blatimore for 2 hours going both north and then south. I feel some of your pain. I just hope everything went well at John Hopkins.
  12. Looks great. Nice and clean. Did you get something nicer or going for a different approach to exploring the great outdoors?
  13. Senior Citizen Rate is half that. Thanks for the pictures. It looks a lot better on the ground than it does on Google Earth.
  14. I've stayed at the Red Coconut. If you want to be on the beach it will be more expensive than the Fort. All the spaces on the beach side of the highway are tight. I never heard of the Periwinkle Park but it looks good and it is not too close to mangroves so maybe the no see ums and mosquitos won't be bad. I might have to give it a try. It looks affordable.
  15. Booked April 12,2015 on the Allure of the Seas. The Sail price worked out to be $2800 for a Balcony room and it is already up to $3400. Sweet. Now the big question is do I buy the drink all day for $55 pass or not.
  16. I'm thinking you guys are not seeing the possibilities of a Florida Centered Souring ride and I would like to offer a few ideas that people hovering at low altitude might find interesting. You could weave in and out of traffic on I-95 from Miami to Fort Lauderdale just like the natives do on rice rocket motorcycles or you could swoop down on "Katherine the Great" white shark as she swims just off the Fort Lauderdale Beach. Then you could swing down to the keys and glide under the remains of the seven mile bridge and smell all the rotting fish guts from the decades of fishermen who clean thei
  17. That black speck would be right at home on any Florida Windshield. It never bothered me because I thought it belonged there. If they updated the video to make it like Florida they could add to the experience by peppering everyone with sticky Chocolate Flavored love bugs. We may not have hang gliders but we do have paragliders. Think how much excitement the ride would generate if your hang glider slammed into a building or dropped you into the Gulf Stream. I'm thinking this new ride could be as much fun as a kayak ride in the Everglades during alligator mating season.
  18. 2001gator is right on the money. I tried everything from heat guns , gasoline, acetone, mineral spirits and 3m spray on bumper sticker remover and a plastic scraper but the eraser wheel and the rapid remover are the only thing that wirked well.
  19. Its funny how I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about this question. My first thought was to suggest that you call the previous owner and ask him for it. Then I got to wondering how you tested out the electrical equipment before you bought it without an electrical cord. Maybe the previous owner hid it so you wouldn't test the AC or refrig or lights or hot water heater. You already had to buy tires and a new canvas. I hope you got a really good deal on this hybrid. You see where I'm going with this. I'm going to take a pill tonight.
  20. You would have to buy 85 bags in a season to justify what you would pay for the Ice maker. And then you would have to figure out where you are going to store the thing when you are not using it. Just saying it may not be worth it if you don't camp every week end at a camp ground with electricity.
  21. If I remember correctly you bought a TT. The cord should have come with the unit. If your search does not find one then take a picture of the electrical connection and go to an RV dealer or Camping World and buy a replacement. You should know what amp service your unit is and the picture should help you get the right cord.
  22. rn0530 had a pretty good description of the Half marathon. My daughter loved it. The medal and ribbon is a big heavy thing. The character meet and greats are not just that. There will be displays and pieces from the parade scattered along the route. Music, bands and chorale grouips are also scattered along the way. Fireworks start the race for each corral. The costumes can get very elaborate. And if Lou owned stock in DW he would be laughing all the way to the bank. The guy who thought up these events has turned an empty park into a money making machine when it is normally closed. Of
  23. If you are looking for a beach experience then some of the suggestions offered are good. There are other State Parks like Jonathan Dickenson in Jupiter. It is not directly on the beach but it is a quick drive to some of the best beaches in FLA. Waves are big and surfers love the area. Water Temps are warmer than the Gulf. I think the water is bluer and cleaner but thats just my opinion. It is a big nature preserve with a pontoon boat tour and you can rent canoes. Lots of things to do in the area. Myakka SP near Sarasota is also a nature preserve with an emphasis on nature. Deer and G
  24. Smells can come from a number of sources. In FLA we use Damp Rid to keep the humidity low and prevent mold. Keep a little water in the toilet and regularly run a little water in the sink and shower drains to keep the p traps from drying out and letting the smell from the blackand grey water tanks from getting into the interior of the unit. There is a natural smell that these closed in small spaces have due to the materials used in contruction like glue and styro foam. The only thing that will reduce that is air and time. Good luck.
