  1. It has the best Fried Chicken. I have always liked the servers but there is one fellow who goes out of his way to be entertaining. Wish I could remember his name. The only way Trails end could be better was if they had someone playing the piano like they used to.
  2. Its all good. Those are all normal sounds for tandem axles.
  3. There must be because I always go home with more towels then I came with.
  4. Walmart for toilet paper, Black Water chemicals, and related sewer hook up hoses. Just dropped a bundle at Dicks Sporting Goods for a two burner camp chef stove that will allow me to boil a side of a cow in 5 minutes. Not sure why that is a good thing but you never know. Just dropped another bundle at Bass Pro Shops for accessories for the stove like a griddle and carrying case and a beach chair for the DW who is afraid of anything that could cook half a cow. Thankfully there is no Camping World in driving distance and I don't trust the internet to keep my credit card into secure. I have it
  5. I'm with Big Tom. I used to think that I could fix anything cheaper than a repair professional could because I don't have to pay myself but I proved myself wrong while doing a brake job on an old car. The parts to replace the brake shoes cost me 30 bucks. The trip to the emergency room to save my eye was much more even with insurance. My first reaction to this thread is, Yes you can fix it but how good do you need it to look. First I would duck tape over the rotted area immediately to stop any more water from coming in. When you have more than a weekend to spend on the project you could
  6. Just saw the 38 inch requirement. Guess I will be sitting a spell. Hope there is some kind of other entertainment in the area.
  7. OK so he said the ride would be good for the whole family. My grandson will be 20 months old by then. Does anyone know if he will be old enough for the ride or will I be sitting outside with him while the rest of the family go on the ride?
  8. The books are only helpful if you need advice while on the road. If you have access to the internet you can get a video of most everything you have that breaks and how to fix it. I fixed my hot water heater and refrigerator that way. There are also web sites like this one and Irv2.com that have a lot of very helpful information, particularly about towing. Look for a thread called the physics of towing. Finally, I suggest that you take some short trips to get the feel of the rig. Don't buy any expensive equipment until you determine what you really need. If you are towing a trailer you m
  9. Congrats, you and the kids are going to have so much fun. Once you get your tow vehicle you should plan a short trip close to your house for a shake down cruise. Then start dreaming about your next visit to the fort.
  10. I had a 2005 R-Vision TT that was 26ft long. I traded it in on a MH in 2007 and noticed it had developed delamination. It was relatively easy to tow but I did have quality control issues with it. I bought it new so your factory problems should have been corrected by now and if delamination has not yet started, it may never so you should be good to go. I strongly suggest you inspect the hinges on every cabinet door including those under the bed and on any storage compartment. You are looking for missing screws or inproperly aligned screw that have not been inserted straight or completely.
  11. It is common for the racks to show some rust. They are also easily replaced. You can prevent this from happening by leaving the refer doors open when the unit is not in use.
  12. The one thing that is not mentioned is that we Floridians think anyone who willingly jumps into the ocean when the surf temp is below 80 degrees must be from North Dakota. The mythical frost line crosses the state somewhere in Palm Beach County so below that should be very comfortable for some one not from Florida. Hollywood Beach has some very nice hotels and a great brick walk along the beach but it is populated with 55+yr old French Canadians who think they look good in speeo's. Yikes. Miami Beach is beautiful and the beach is great but may not be kid friendly, Your DH might like it th
  13. Unless it is an airstream or something really old it is probably fiberglass.. You should look for large bubbles, bulges or waves in the fiberglass on the exterior. That is called delamination and is not easily fixed, (very expensive). The other type of siding is the corragated siding nailed to wooden studs. They will almost always leak around the front window if there is one. If there is no interior damage you can fix that with caulking but if you smell mold on the interior of any unit you should run as fast as possible. Flush the toilet and hold the pedal down for a while so you can look
  14. When you make the reservations just tell that what you have and how long it is when it is opened up so they can fit you in the right spot. I always used my pop ups in those sites and see little difference in a hybrid and pop up, except maybe the hybrid is more comfortable. Have a great time. My next trip is in August. Hope to see you then.
  15. There is a rumor flying around Orlando that The Norway attraction at EPCOT is going to be updated to be themed after the Frozen movie. I wonder if it will be a sing along including a bouncing ball. That would be a first.
  16. I've done it many times but I've had to slow down since they made the walk back from the Contemporary Monorail station to the boat ramp twice as long as when you walk from the boat ramp to the Monorail station. Of maybe it just seems that way. And to answer your question, Yes and No. Would you really want to trust your kids to someone who enjoys adult beverages as much as you do? Just sayin.
  17. Rennie, I thought I was the only sick SOB who enjoyed the scene at the local boat ramp. At a private camp ground in the Keys I learned that between 4-6 PM on Friday Saturday or Sunday you could go and watch all the boater who have been drinking, I mean fishing all day, trying to get their boats out of the water by backing their trailer and then their entire tow vehicle into the ocean to try and pull their boat out. They would then jump out of whatever they were in and slip on the slick boat ramp and fall face first into the water. Good times.
  18. Topsail in the first pick, followed by Beverly Beach in Flagler Beach. There is also a place called Red Coconuts in Fort Meyers Beach but the actual beach sites are more expensive than the fort and extremely tight. You might not be able to open your awning as your neighbor is that close. If he really likes driving then he should check out the keys. The beaches are not the nicest Florida has to offer but the water and the views are not to be experienced anywhere else.
  19. Its more fun to empty a full wagon than fill an empty one. Just my humble opinion, your experience may vary.
  20. So far I have seen a monkey, a pig, cats and parrots at the fort, all within the pet loops. I hoped that the person walking the rather large pig on a leash was also picking up after her. I also wondered how the pig traveled in the Motor home but if they had no problem with her I didn't either. I just hope people don't bring snakes, I hate snakes.
  21. Are 2 enough to pull a beer wagon. Inquiring minds want to know.
  22. First I have trouble listing just one recommendation. 1. Listen to everyone else about just staying at the fort. We go to the fort for a week every 2-3 months and rarely go to a theme park. 2. Rent a golf cart. 3. Bring at least 2-3 cases of bottled water. A case of small bottles at the trading post is $17.00. Publix sells the bigger bottles for $3-4. 4. The same advice goes for adult beverages. 5. If you follow #4, please post the dates you will be there so that I can come and help lighten the load for the trip home.
  23. I second the motion for the Dicor caulk. It comes in tubes and goes on like the caulk from Home Depot. It is self leveling so that means you just squirt it on where you want it and it levels out before hardening. The Eternabond Tape is also also an excellent product but it is a perminent solution as it will not leak and not come off once it is in place. Both are available at your local RV supply store or on line through Camping World or RV Parts Nation. Good luck. I had nothing but good memories in my Pop Ups.
  24. Just to be clear. Tropical Palms is OK but it is no Fort Wilderness. I have heard many good things about jason. I would see if he can help. There is also a KOA on 192 in Kissimmee but it also is no Fort Wilderness.
