  1. I was just going to post this. I will say the cabins look beautiful. But I doubt I'll ever get to stay there. Even with three years of points I wouldn't even have enough for a week in January (cheapest points). I did read that starting tomorrow you will be able to see a model room at Saratoga Springs. But I would imagine that will just be for the studios or 1 or 2 bedrooms, not the cabins.
  2. TCD, you did a great job with those pictures. You were really thorough in getting all the details. I have to say I think yours was the first picture I've seen looking at the whole DVC villas building from that angle with all the trees gone. That made me sad. But so far the other areas look good so I'm hoping that when all is said and done we'll be happy with the final product.
  3. Even with the Florida heat a hot tub seems more appealing to me than a plunge pool. Has anyone ever seen people in their plunge pools at the bungalows when you're out on the lake? We stayed at the Polynesian this past fall and would go past the bungalows quite often. We never saw any evidence of life in them. I've read a couple of rumors that sales may start March 9th. We currently have a reservation for the first week in January. We might try to switch over to one of the new rooms but might not. I enjoy the villas building. Although the last time we were there we had a nice view of the
  4. For the little room out back, we don't know yet. It does look like a screened in porch. I am all in favor of a hot tub out there. Plunge pool? Not so much. I don't know about the three doors in front, my guess is utility rooms. On the DVC site I go to they gave the timeline for the span between the declaration being filed and sale of points. I think VGF was 6 weeks, Poly was 5 days. Actually, here's another breakdown from there: This is how the poly went-Poly declared on January 7, 2015Points chart and prices revealed January 8Existing members could purchase January 12Membe
  5. http://dvcnews.com/index.php/resorts...ments-and-more I was going to post this on the DVC board but this thread was picking up so much steam that I thought I'd put it here. As a VWL owner I was happy to see the point allotment, it may actually keep those cabins in my realm of possibility, at least for a couple of nights (for research purposes only, of course).
  6. It could be the Community Hall or it could be replacing the Cub's Den which was the spot you could leave your kids for a night out.
  7. I'm so sorry. That was a beautiful tribute in the Facebook link.
  8. My vote would absolutely be Yosemite Valley, but I'm not sure it that's more than a two day drive for you. We went last summer and I thought it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. So much natural beauty to explore. How about Yellowstone? That would be closer to you. We really enjoyed Washington DC but I agree with the others that your two youngest ones might be too young. I think kids have to be at least 7 to get much out of that trip.
  9. If the points per night are comparable to what they ask for a bungalow over at the Poly that will be a no. We have 200 points a year...that won't even get two nights in a bungalow. We've booked a two bedroom in the (old) villas, and I'm fine with that.
  10. We just booked a stay there for the end of the year, will be interested to see it for myself. I'm just hoping the pool will be done by then!
  11. We saw him at F&W a few years ago, he was pretty good. I noticed a few of those bands are regulars at F&W. I wonder if they're going to have a number of newer bands this fall.
  12. Ate there in October and it was very good. In fact, last night I made their sweet bread and the macadamia nut butter...delicious!
  13. We always rent a car and my first step is always visiting mousesavers.com for all the latest codes. She updates regularly and lists codes and coupons by company. I also recommend Costco. We got a fantastic rate for our CA trip going through Costco.
  14. Finally a bit of information on the pool and restaurant they're building at the Wilderness Lodge. It says it's opening summer of 2017...we'll see. http://wdwnt.com/blog/2016/11/disney-announces-new-restaurants-pool-enhancements-disneys-wilderness-lodge/
  15. Excellent trip report! I missed out on the lemon beer, bummer. But I loved seeing the excitement on your nephew's face in the pictures, he's a cutie. I fully expect to stay at the Poly next time we go as construction probably won't be done at the Wilderness Lodge.
  16. Aw, we missed you by a week. We stayed in the DVC studios and loved it. Wasn't sure how we would like it because I had read some negative things about it but we agreed we would definitely stay there again. Never got into Trader Sams so I guess we have to go back!
  17. Great start! When were you there? We were just at the Poly a couple of weeks ago.
  18. When we did it several years ago we got a fantastic discount on the tickets. From my understanding the discount is not nearly as good as it used to be. My kids all did the program at the Living Seas (is it even called that anymore? ha). My two older girls were in a separate class, they liked it well enough. It focused a lot on conservation. I went with my youngest to her class. It was good, but about an hour too long. The kids were engaged for the first half, then they all kind of fizzled out, it was just long. I certainly don't regret doing it. The kids learned something, there were back
  19. They did say it was limited shopping and dining. Dining at the resorts is also for your resort only.
  20. I was there speaking with the concierge and like he said, people are going to come out anyway. It really was not that bad here. If they announced they were opening there would have been a mad rush. People found out and made it there, believe me. Just got word that Disney Springs is opening tonight.
  21. Had a message on our phone early this morning to stay in room. But we just went up to the Great Ceremonial House and Captain Cooks was open. Characters were just starting to appear in lobby and they had activities lined up for the kids. We also scored some candy that would have been used at the Halloween party last night. It's windy, not very rainy at the moment, but not horrible.
  22. We are currently at the Polynesian. They had crafts, games and characters in the lobby until 9:00. They set up a big buffet at 'Ohana and we were told it would be offered at a "significant discount" although no one could actually tell us what it would be. We ended up eating at Kona where our waiter told us he had absolutely no idea what the plan was, where he would be spending the night. We ate at the Fort last night and on the bus ride out they were picking up people who were being evacuated from the cabins. These were mostly families with small children who had luggage and strollers in
  23. Check out this article, it has some great pictures of the MK while being built. http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/29/travel/tbt-disney-magic-kingdom-under-construction/index.html
