  1. I agree. We saw it out at DL in June and my first thought was that it was all fake. I mean, what are the chances of them filming polar bears and suddenly a killer whale jumps out of the water? I already miss Soarin over California, especially since we got to see a lot of those places when we were out there. Am enjoying reading along on your trip, Gwen! Just about 2 1/2 weeks for us and we'll be there for F&W. Can't wait! Is it still super hot?
  2. As far as Disneyland goes, we liked it. But I think because we are so much more familiar with WDW we kind of prefer that. Well, at least the kids and I do. My husband really liked the fact that the parks were so close and thought that was such a huge advantage over WDW. He HATES the WDW transportation. We loved Indiana Jones, Pirates, Space Mountain and Thunder Mt. My kids really preferred CA over Disneyland. They loved that Screaming rollercoaster and Mickey's Fun Wheel or whatever it's called. Carsland did not disappoint either. But both parks were crowded and pretty hot. At WDW we k
  3. I just wanted to come back and say thank you for your trip report and your advice. We saw so much of what you did on our recent trip and different things would come to mind. Unfortunately we couldn't get tickets to Alcatraz. The whole time we were in SF it was foggy (it would never lift all day), windy and about 58 degrees. So my pictures of the Golden Gate bridge look much different than yours! We opted not to walk across it but drove instead, just to say we could, plus we had lunch in Sausalito, which was lovely. We hit LA, Disneyland, Sequoia, Yosemite, San Francisco, Monterey and Big
  4. Finally all caught up on this trip report, love hearing about and seeing the pictures from the Disney cruise. Maybe someday... You mentioned Paradise Pier in one of your replies earlier, couldn't find it. But we just returned from our epic 2 week CA family adventure. First, thank you for your Disneyland reports as they helped me in planning. I don't know that I have it in me to write a trip report but I can say we really enjoyed Disneyland, but it was a little disorienting as I would think I knew where things were but then go around a corner and be totally lost. I like the control I ha
  5. Excellent trip report and thank you for the Ghirardelli tip. I will have to remember that! Walking the Golden Gate Bridge is also on the agenda, will check to see if Alcatraz tickets are still available for our dates. Thank you!
  6. I'm still thoroughly enjoying your report! We leave on Sunday, will see several of the places you've been, also starting in Disneyland. We plan on hitting Santa Monica. I may have missed it but did you eat there, any recommendations? We'll also be going to San Francisco but we're not driving up the coast, we're going inland and hitting Sequoia and Yosemite. I'll have to look into Alcatraz tickets but I am interested in what your kids enjoyed the most (we have 3 teens).
  7. Wow, those are some lengthy detailed videos. I admit I didn't have time to watch them all the way through but it helped me so that I have some idea of where things are. Thanks for posting. I was tempted to watch the RSR video but I want to be surprised.
  8. Late to the party but am enjoying the trip report. Count me in as another one who looked at the decorations and wondered how the heck you got them up there.
  9. Not sure if this will help but last time we stayed at WL we rented bikes there and rode them over to FW and spent an hour or two riding around. I'm just not sure that the bike path is still open though with all the construction going on.
  10. Great updates, I am loving this trip report. We also got the park hopper option for our upcoming two days there. Wondering if you thought it was worth it. But I figured we could jump over to Disneyland like you did after DCA closes.
  11. Looks like a fun start to the weekend trip!
  12. Thanks for the report, full of great information as usual. I got the email today that announced the name change for VWL. I think the two separate names seals the fate of current VWL owners like myself that the new addition will be an entirely separate entity (which basically means we get screwed out of things like the 11 month booking window for the new accommodations).
  13. I'm sad I won't get to see it one more time. But I will get to see the new one in Disneyland at the end of June, so that's a consolation.
  14. That does stink. My kids discovered it on our last trip and loved it.
  15. Thank you for posting the picture of the park map. I want to be familiar with the layout of the parks so I will have some idea of where things are.
  16. I'm so interested to read more. We leave for our CA trip next month and like you, only have 2 days to see the highlights at both parks. Thanks for sharing!
  17. Just commenting on the construction over at VWL. I read on a DVC site that the name for the new cabins is reportedly Copper Creek Cabins and Villas at Disneys Wilderness Lodge. And as far as that big structure going up I thought I remembered reading somewhere there will be a new restaurant. It could be that.
  18. Good to hear the TCD gang is doing well. I'm already enjoying the TR, as usual.
  19. So glad to hear you had a good time! We also only have two days and want to make the most of it. Did you park hop? Also, I would love to know what attractions you hit first thing in the mornings. Just trying to make a game plan so we can experience as much as we possibly can. We're also a family of five, three teens so no little ones, we should be able to keep up a good pace.
