  1. Purchased today: 5 yards of red fabric with large white polka dots (though I should only need 4) 1 atomic red zipper and matching thread 1 dress pattern Goal: 1 gorgeous Minnie Mouse dress for dd for Halloween! I've already purchased the gloves, Minnie ears headband, and yellow shoes. Any tips for someone who sews curtains and tote bags but shies away from anything that has to be a very specific size, lol! I think I'm going to sew a size 6, but I'm worried with dd's height (5'7") it might be short on her....maybe I should plan to cut it a bit longer than the pattern says? I am very scared to
  2. I was very cryptic....it isn't my fault that if you Google "Fort Wilderness expert," this site comes up  The reason I started posting over there recently was to try to correct misinformation (offered in the right spirit, but totally off the mark.) It's a never-ending battle though. There were a couple of people there (a married couple, not sure if they're also here) who used to answer all of the questions and be super helpful, but one of them has been quiet lately and the other silent.
  3. I have attempted to steer that poor poster in the right direction. We shall see if it works.
  4. We've done the BBQ twice, once when dd was 12 and once when she was younger. The first time, we all had a blast. She danced, the characters were great (both before and during the show), the trick roper was amazing, and the show was a lot of fun. The second time we went, when she was 12, we only stayed long enough to eat, and then we left. It was boring, because she was too old for it, and we'd seen it all before. So if you've never been, and your kids are young, I'd say give it a try. The food is nothing fantastic, but it's a fun experience to have once.
  5. I'm glad you had a nice trip! It's too bad people helped themselves to your stuff...not cool at all. I was melting at WDW in late June, so I totally would have been a naysayer, but I see you're from TX, so that intense heat and sun are probably not such a shock for you, lol!
  6. This is the day we're planning to leave for home, and we'd hoped to log 12 hours on the road before stopping. May have to rethink that, because I would so love to be there for the grand opening!
  7. Elphie is my hero. I'm laughing as I sit here reading this, wearing my Defy Gravity shirt!
  8. Your kitties are adorable, Cindy. I love that you have a cat who walks with your daughter...too funny!
  9. Awwww, I think the possum is cute. Not cool that he's started bringing friends to your back porch feast though!
  10. Mmmmm, garlic bread! The Nemo theming is cute but not exactly subtle (still way better than the All Stars, since it's at least cute!) I thought all resorts (other than the Fort) had locked pool access based on our stay at BLT a couple of years ago, and then I learned different.....I hope they all have it eventually, and having it at the new resort is a good start! Thanks for sharing your photos...I'd been wondering what the new place looked like!
  11. When DH and I had a chance for dinner alone, we opted for Shula's. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is relaxed, and there wasn't a kid to be seen when we were there.
  12. Fun! Love the nature shots (thought the gator would have scared the crud out of me--they are creepy.) Can't wait to see more!
  13. Very helpful to read about others' experiences. I think I'm gonna need more tools! The lamp will have to go at the bottom of my camper to-do list, but the rope light Mickey could happen more easily.....right after we finish the ceiling work, the sofa installation, the new cushions for the dinette, and adding another seat belt! I should actually work on these projects instead of spending so much time reading here, lol!
  14. Yes, photo, please! Or you can just make me one when you make your mom's
  15. Excellent! Since Home Depot is my home away from home, I'll look the next time I'm in (was just there earlier today, in fact!)
  16. These are great! Building one is on my "to do" list before our November trip. Was it pretty easy to find the parts and put together?
  17. Great TR! Love, love, love the Christmas Story house and museum...that is so going on my bucket list! My extended family lived in Amish country in Indiana when I was growing up, and we spent a lot of time there.
  18. She is scrumptiously cute! What a perfect dog for a CM family!
  19. Enjoy!! Breakfast at Chef Mickey's is one of our favorite things to do!
  20. Yay for bosses who give comp time...that's awesome! Can't wait to hear about your tenting adventure. Tenting is waaaaay outside my comfort zone, so I shall live it vicariously through you!
  21. So cool! I love that stuff, too. Our local opera house draws many groups of ghost hunters. My home is 105 years old, and it holds a positive spirit, which I believe is either the original owner or her daughter. She came to me during a time when dd was gravely ill. We toured a lot of historic homes before we settled on this one, and one of those had a very scary vibe...I wouldn't have lived there under any circumstances.
  22. Noooooooooo! I get so excited when I see the yellow envelope, even though I know it's just a bill. It's special hand-delivered Disney mail, and all Disney mail is good mail! We got the envelope on our door when we checked out of the Poly last month....I wonder if the email is just a Fort thing? Weird, the things that I cling to, lol!
  23. What a sweet and amazing story....so glad you are getting to spend some time together! Thanks for sharing!
  24. I had no idea this was even a question.....it never occurred to me that Tink would be anything but a girl!
