I remember that day fondly. We were going to visit EPCOT for the F&W as well, but the rain changed our minds. We ended up going today. Right now we are enjoying a glass of the Canadian Ice Wine and relaxing after gorging ourselves.
If you liked the lobster roll, they also serve it at the restaraunt by the Haunted Mansion in MK. It is the same thing, probably even made exactly the same way. So you can go there outside of F&W if you get a craving for one.
We felt this years F&W was better than last years. Though allot of the booths offered the same foods, there was some new stuff as well. Not all good, but nothing horrible.
Next time you head to WDW, honk when you pass exit 44. That is where I live. No no, not in a box under the overpass. The RV park you see acrossed the lake.

Oh my! Two posts already and I'm just catching up. The weather has got me a little sluggish. I too, am tired of all this rain. I love when it rains, but not for three days in a row. Let's see if I can remember all the things I want to comment on:
Why is TCD the greatest Dad ever?
    1. When you make plans with your girls, who cares what those darn weather people say, you throw caution to the wind.
    2. Despite being caught in a traffic jam, you make a quick decision to change up the plans, instead of having road rage, or deciding to just go back home.
    3. You appreciate the Disney Security and realize that they risk life and limb to protect guests.
    4. You let the twins laugh at you, instead of just with you. Including while you wandered cluelessly through the lodge or listened to some old 70's guys music.
    5. You don't embarrass the twins by telling a cast member they don't know their ass from their elbow, even when you know the Cars topiaries have been at Epcot.
    6. You buy big, yummy, fattening cookies. (Twin #1 eyes say it all)
    7. You are a quick thinker, even when your life is flashing before your eyes. But I have to wonder if your camera would survive the fall for Mrs TCD to see the "final" photo?
    8. You make the most of your time while the girls took a pit stop instead of rushing them and complaining like a lot of men.
    9. You loaded up the wrist gift cards with cash for quick snacking access.
    10. You took a fist pumping picture with guidos!! I love guidos, and will probably spend the majority of my F&W experience sniffing looking around Italy.
I hope your girls know how lucky they are to have such a hands on Dad. I wasn't always so lucky. So that's all for now, my "top ten" list. Letterman will probably be calling soon, but don't worry I won't forget the little people who got me there.

It was still raining steadily when we exited TOT.
Was it really going to rain all day.
It had lightened just a bit, to just a drizzle, when we were walking in to Indiana Jones.
But, it had picked up to a steady rain again by now.
We were all still relatively dry. We did a good job walking directly from one place to the next, and it was not very windy, so we didn't have to deal with the rain blowing sideways, as it sometimes does in Florida.
The posted wait time for Rock-N-Roller Coaster was 20 minutes, and the line was all under cover, so we joined the line.
Something was wrong here too. The Fast Pass line was not moving:

A manager type came out and looked around.
And then the Fastpass line moved. But the stand-by line did not. At all. More and more folks arrived for the Fastpass line, and they moved along. Slower than normal, but they moved.
    The rain continued to fall:

That photo above was taken 20 minutes after we entered the line. As you can see, we were still outside.
    We waited some more.
I got this photo of TOT:

We finally entered the pre-show room about 50 minutes after we first got on line. I don't know what was wrong, as it usually wouldn't take that long from where the line was outside. The line was moving, but very slowly. I don't know how things work here exactly. I guess they have more coasters on the track when it is busier, and they were just operating at a slower pace today. On a regular day, I would be bothered by this, but I didn't want to be out in the rain, so I didn't mind.
When we exited the pre-show room, we had to wait right outside the door. Most of the time, the castmembers wave you on from here, but we got to watch a couple of coasters launch. I have always enjoyed the themeing in this attraction:

In all, it took us an hour to enjoy this attraction. Again, on a normal day, I would have not been happy about that, but today I didn't care.
It was finally time for us to head to Epcot.
We headed out to catch the boat. There was a pretty good line waiting. That can be good and bad. The good is that means we didn't just miss the boat. The bad is that if there are too many people in line, we won't make the next boat.
A boat was pulling up just as we joined the line.
We were having great luck with our transportation so far today.
As we approached the boat, a castmember was counting people, and asking how many were in each party. That always means that the line is about to be stopped. But we made it.
It was standing room only on the boat. But, we didn't care. We had a roof over our heads for the next 25 minutes.
A bunch of people got off at the Swan/Dolphin stop, so we were able to get seats then. Here's a shot of us approaching the Yacht and Beach Club:

And here's a shot showing how dreary and deserted it was on the Boardwalk:

Most of the folks who had boarded at Hollywood Studios disembarked at one of the resort stops, so our boat was less than half full when we arrived at the International Gateway.
The girls wanted to take a pit-stop here to get ready for our Epcot visit, so I snapped a few shots of the entry area while I waited for them:

    Then we headed on in.
It was clearly a lot less busy than a typical Saturday Food and Wine afternoon.
But, we had some good people watching right away.
As we were heading in, there was a group of young guys heading out.
The had obviously hit the Food and Wine Festival hard, and they were on there way to their next event.
They were trying to get someone to take a group shot with their camera.
They asked me if my "wife" would take the shot (referring to one of the twins).
I said that's not my wife, and she's only 16.
    They thought that was funny.
So, my DD took their photo.
Then they asked if we wanted a photo with them.
    My DD's declined.
What if that ended up on Facebook?
    But I was game.
    Here's my new friends:

A couple of comments about that photo:
    1. They asked me to bend down. I had my backpack on under my poncho. So, I look like a hunchback. I don't have a hunchback. Not that there's anything wrong with hunchbacks.
    2. Notice the guy on the far right. Do you see all the things around his waist? Those are the souvenir beer mugs they sell this year. With beer, they are $11.25. Do you see how many he has? Whoa!
    3. At the request of my new friends, I am doing a fist pump there in the photo. I think these are what we call Guidos. Again, not that there's anything wrong with that.
So, we were having fun already.
When we entered the park, we got a Food and Wine Festival Map.
Ordinarily, we would have started in the front of the park and worked our way around. But, we were back here by France, so we decided to make a right, and head around toward Mexico.
As we began our walk, the rain and wind picked up. Now, the rain was blowing.
    Boo!
We bypassed some of the first booths we came to, as a quick look at the map told us that we wanted to start our eating in Japan.
We ducked briefly into a gift shop in Morocco so my DD's could put their phones and cameras into ziplock bags, as it looked like the ponchos and umbrella might not be enough now that the rain decided to pick up. Here are some shots of Morocco in the rain. I could take some photos since we were in the gift shop at the time:

If you are keeping track, this means that we skipped France, Belgium, Portugal and New Zealand.
If you have been to the F&W Festival before, you know how things work- there is a cashier outside each booth. You order there, and get a receipt. You then go to the counter and present your receipt and pick up your order. Simple.
At Japan, however, the cashier had abandoned his post. People were just walking up to the counter and ordering, paying, and getting their food. So, that's what we did. They were also operating with cash only. I had not yet purchased a gift card, so we had cash, and completed our transaction. We got an order of the Spicy Tuna Roll and the California Roll. And it was raining. Now what? We headed over to the Japan pavilion, and stood under cover with a bunch of other folks. The sushi was good. Each order contained three pieces. The spicy tuna really wasn't very spicy. But we did get a little wasabi, so that helped.
Here's a photo of the Kirin Ichiban beer tap in the Japan booth:

And, here's a photo of our tuna roll (sorry it's blurry- the light was bad under the overhang):

I took this photo, because I thought you would see all of the rain falling just outside the covered area where we were, but you really can't see the rain:

As those of you who have been to the Food and Wine Festival know, they have free concerts from washed up has been musicians on the weekend nights. Tonight we had one guy- Roger something or other-from the band Supertramp. Whoop-Dee-Doo! Ironically, Roger just happened to be playing the only Supertramp song I know just as I was walking by. You might know it too- The Logical Song. I believe it came out in 1979. Which I believe because that is the year I graduated High School, and when I heard old Roger playing that song, it brought me right back to then. Old Roger wasn't half bad. He then played a song called Dreamer, which I remembered once I heard it, and then another song that I rembered as well. Who would have thought- I liked old Roger! Here he is:

You can see folks don't like Roger well enough to be willing to stand in the rain to listen to him.
The TCD twins had no idea who the old guy was or why we were stopping to listen to him:

    So we moved on.
We were going to stop at Singapore, because they had an item called Shrimp Cake. I like Shrimp. I like Cake. So, therefore, Shrimp Cake would be good, right? I don't know about that. But, the Singapore booth was closed. Locked up. Nobody was home. I took this as a bad sign.
Next we came to a booth called the Hops and Barley booth. That sounded promising. They had lobster items. I ordered a lobster roll. I understand these are a big deal in the northeast. I have had exactly one lobster roll in my life before this one. Before I had my first, I was picturing something like an egg roll. But, it is really more like lobster salad on a bun (or roll if you will). The first one I had wasn't that good. This one was actually pretty good. I tried to take a photo, but this is what I got:

The photo taking of the food wasn't working. There was too much commotion going on, and it was hard to find a place out of the rain to set the food down to take a photo. So, that is the last blurry food photo you will see. The rest of the food photos will be more action shots.
When I stopped at the Hops and Barley booth, I asked the castmember if a lot of the booths were shut down or would be cash only. He said no, that all of the booths other than Singapore were operating, and only Japan was operating on a cash only basis, because some of their electronics had failed. I went ahead and bought three of those little wrist gift cards, and loaded them all with cash. That way, we could all go to the booths we wanted to, and not fiddle with cash.
Next up, we stopped at Italy. Things were working right in Italy. The castmembers were friendly, and made a production out of serving our order. We were their only customers at that moment:

The castmember shown in the last photo above, announced our order in exaggerated Italian, and then served it with a flourish. You can see that we had the undivided attention of everyone in the booth. We got an order of the ravioli and an order of the cappellini here. It was raining still, so we ducked into the covered area outside of the restrooms between Italy and Germany to enjoy our food. We had a hilarious conversation with a castmember here. He apparently was on duty at these restrooms for 11 hours today. He doesn't like the F & W Festival so much, because I guess some gross things happen in the bathrooms then. I asked him to spare us the details, as we were eating. He went on to tell us a few tales of things he had seen at the F & W Festival, and he speculated at great length about whether or not the fireworks would go tonight. This guy obviously was a couple of fries short of a happy meal, but he was a great diversion from the rain. Oh, I almost forgot, the ravioli was excellent- maybe one of the best things we had all night, and the cappellini was good too. From here, we said arrivederci to our new friend Tony, and headed back out in the rain.
We skipped Poland, because I was anxious to get to Germany.
They serve my all time favorite item there.
I will pick up the story from there in the next post.

If you have a car, you could also drive and park in the Outpost parking lot and then use the internal transportation from there.
If you really want to impress your party with your secret Fort knowledge, park at WL, and take the FW bus from there. Currently, that bus will become an internal (Yellow Route) bus when you get to the Fort- so no bus changing is necessary- just exit at either the 1400 or 1500 loop bus stops, and walk to the campfire area. Depending on when you visit, you could watch the fireworks on the Fort beach after the movie, and you could take your party back to the WL via boat on the return trip to sit by the fire in the lobby and enjoy some hot cocoa from the nearby quick serve restaurant (open till midnight) before heading back to the All Stars.

BradyBzLyn...Mo reacted to we3peas in F&W 2011 We3Peas Eating Around the World ***New Stuff***
This past Wednesday my dd13 and I went to check out F&W at EPCOT. We went for one afternoon trip last year before Halloween when our passes were expiring and were hooked. She's talked about it all year and wanted to try lots of new things.

    dd13

    me
So we head out on Wednesday and start at the Festival Marketplace, which we did not know existed last year. We wandered around a bit and bought our F&W swipe card so we wouldn't have to keep pulling cash out of our pockets. This is also the location where they hold many of the seminars and tasting events.

After purchasing our new mascot “Jean Ralphio” as my dd has named her vinyalmation (from the popular NBC show Parks&Rec)

we walked to World Showcase in time for opening of the countries.

On the way we saw the new Ocean Spray cranberry bog. Too cool. My dd wanted to go in and stomp cranberries.

Before I go on I want to let you know that we picked up the Discovery Passport this year and will stamp it in every country. My family jokes about this but I am an avid collector of stamps. On our journey out West last year they got tired of me asking where the National Passport stamps were located every time we entered a park. I also made my dd do every Jr Ranger book there was to be had. But enough on that, we were also going to use the passport to rank OUR opinion of what the food tasted like so if we wanted seconds later we would know what we liked.
Our original plan was to skip every other booth but that flew out the window when we were overwhelmed with all the food we could try. So we jumped from place to place until we were full.
First up was Hawaii. Since we have visited there 3 times I knew we would like the food so we tried the Kalua pork slider. In our ranking we gave it a 4. My dd was worried that the mayonnaise would be too spicy but she ate it all and said she would try it again. I think since the portion was smaller I enjoyed it but I don't think I would want a full size sandwich just because I don't go in for mayonnaise.

Next up was the Desserts and Champagne booth. We decided on the white chocolate Macadamia mousse with dark Chocolate pearls. We both gave it a 5. Really wished it were larger sized. But we will try this again. It has a nice chocolate flavor and the pearls were slightly crunchy.

Then we moved on to Greece, where we tried to Chicken Souvlaki with tzatziki. We gave it a 3. Mostly because it didn't taste like any chicken I've ever had. When I told my dh that it looked like sausage he informed me there is such a thing as chicken sausage. Who knew? I guess that's why HE does the shopping! It still didn't taste like chicken though.

We skipped Canada for now, but I know we will be back to try the cheese soup. I've heard good and bad about it this year.

On to Ireland...last year I was the only one who got to try the Lava Cake since dh and dd wanted to ride Soarin'. I got tired of waiting for them and went to eat instead. The wait for the ride ended up being 90 minutes. So this year I took my dd to all the parks one day a week before F&W and told her to ride anything she wanted to because during F&W we were there for the FOOD! Anyway, at Ireland we ordered the Lava Cake, the Kerrygold cheese selection and I got to try the Bunratty Meade Honey Wine. Cake was OK we gave it a 5, though I did give most of my half to my dd. I really liked the cheeses, I gave them a 4, but the chutney was way too sweet. My Meade was really good, I gave it a 4. Now looking to find out where I can get some. There was actually a lot of cheese so I put it in a container we brought in case we didn't finish something so we could eat it later.

    Jean Ralphio enjoying the World

We skipped over France for now. Since we are local we are planning to make around 5 trips to F&W over the next month,so I'll think we will cover it all.
Next we hit Belgium. I'm not a seafood/fish eater so we skipped the mussels and we had the waffle last year, so this year we tried the Guylien Belgian Chocolate Seashell Truffles. I gave them a 2, my lowest rating of the day. First off they were boxed, like not made at EPCOT, meaning not fresh. Second they were pretty tasteless. I could not tell there was any chocolate in them. Hello, it's Belgian chocolate, shouldn't I have tasted something besides sugar. Dd liked them but she's a kid who loves candy. Just saying.

For now we skipped Portugal and headed for Morocco. We tried the Kefta pocket and gave it a 3. It was good sized and easy to share and not too saucy. The seasoning wasn't overdone but there was nothing to say Wow! about it.
    \

Next up New Zealand. Dd was excited about this since she hasn't ever tried lamb before. So we ordered the lamb slider with tomato chutney. We ranked it a 4. She did think the chutney was spicy on this one, and didn't finish her half. So I saved it for later. I think she didn't finish because of a combination of people smoking near us and we were getting stuffed since we aren't big eaters, mostly grazers.

We skipped the next few booths and ended up at Hops and Barley to try the Pumpkin Mousse. Dd loves cranberries and pumpkin so for us this was a 5. Once again the portion didn't seem large enough to us. But I am glad it was small as I could see myself eating too much of it.

Our last stop was in Germany but not for food. Our last visit here I bought the Wine Walk and wanted to try some German wine this time. While in the shop I noticed something on a sign called a Wine Flight. This is a sample of 3 wines of 6 that they offer. This would include a sample of ice wine, something I've been wanting to try. I was willing to pay the price but didn't want all 3 wines at the same time (since I was the driver and I'm pretty lightweight for a drinker-2 oz would be OK but not 6-8 oz). So I asked if it worked like the Walk where I could try 1 today and the rest later. Unfortunately it doesn't, you have to consume all at the same time. I'll have to save it until my dh is with us next time. For today I just got the small sample that went with the Walk.
So this ended our day at F&W, and we did collect all the stamps and went back to the Festival Marketplace for our completed stamp. Then I let my dd ride Mission Space and we rode Test Track together and gave away our 4 other fast passes to a family. We then went to Sum of All Thrills and designed a rollercoaster before we left. We departed F&W feeling full and we also had great weather today so it was a perfect day.

BradyBzLyn...Mo reacted to neuber in Le Cellier - Cheddar Cheese Soup (3 Versions)
Here is a modified recipe that I use:
    Ingredients:
    1 Pound Applewood Smoked Bacon
    1 stick of butter
    2 Diced red onion
    6 Diced celery stalks
    2 Cup all purpose flour
1 can of Chicken Broth (49.5 oz can)
    ½ gallon whole milk
2 Pound aged white Cheddar cheese block
    1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
    1 Tablespoon pepper
    2 Tablespoon Worchester sauce
    1 Tablespoon Tabasco sauce
    1 bottle of Moosehead Lager
Two main rules to making Cheese Soup: 1) Cook “Low and slow” 2) “keep stirring”
    1. In a large Soup pot cook (food processed) bacon until crispy.
    2. Add the Butter and melt it.
    3. Add the (food processed) Onion and Celery and sauté until all cooked clear.
    4. Dust this with flour and mix to form a roux. Keep stirring until all of the flour has been incorporated.
    5. Add chicken broth, slowly, while constantly stirring. You are looking for something resembling a gravy, at this point. It's going to be very thick.
    6. Next add milk, again slowly, while constantly stirring. This should significantly lighten up your soup at this point.
    7. Turn heat up slightly, to melt the cheese. Add (shredded) cheese very slowly in small amounts, while stirring constantly.
    8. Now add salt and pepper. Be very careful with your salt. There is a lot of salt in your bacon, and possibly even in your chicken broth.
    9. Next add Worchester, Tabasco, and Beer. Keep stirring.
    10. Turn down the heat slightly and let simmer or serve.
When you are reheating this soup (in a microwave) cool on the lowest power setting & stir frequently, to blend evenly.

BradyBzLyn...Mo reacted to shoreline99 in Le Cellier - Cheddar Cheese Soup (3 Versions)
    Original Recipe
    Yield: 6 servings
    Ingredients:
1/4 lb. smoked bacon finely chopped
1 medium red onion cut into 1/4 in. pieces
    1/2 cup finely sliced celery
    1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
    3 TB all-purpose flour
    3 cups whole milk
    2 cups chicken stock
12 oz. grated white cheddar, Canadian Black Diamond
    3 dashes Tabasco
    1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup Moosehead Canadian Ale, room temperature
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 TB thinly sliced chives
    Method:
    1. Cook the bacon in a large heavy-bottomed, non-reactive soup pot over medium heat until wilted but not browned.
    2. Add onions, celery and carrots and cook until the onion is translucent and bacon has crisped.
    3. Sprinkle in flour and stir constantly for 2 minutes. Stir in milk and stock, a little at a time, blending well to ensure there are no lumps. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
    4. Remove from heat and whisk in cheese, Tabasco, Worcestershire and ale. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve with your favorite bread and top with chopped chives.
This is an updated version of the recipe, submitted 8/09.
    Ingredients:
? Pound applewood smoked Bacon (cut into ?” pieces)
    4 Tablespoons butter
1 Diced red onion (about 1 cup)
3 Diced celery stalks (about 1 cup)
    1 Cup all purpose flour
    3 Cups chicken stock
    4 Cups whole milk
1 Pound aged white Cheddar cheese (shaved or grated)
    1 Tablespoon salt (to taste)
    1 Tablespoon pepper
    1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 Tablespoon Tabasco sauce
    1 cup warm beer
    Method of preparation:
The number one rule in Cheddar cheese soup is “Low and slow”. This recipe takes about an hour to make, and if you try to turn the heat up and rush it, you will only ruin your work
The number two rule is “Keep stirring”. This is a soup that can burn, and takes a lot of tender loving care. When in doubt,  “Keep stirring".
    1. In a large Soup pot (At least 1 ? Gallon) render down the bacon. All you are looking to do here is to liquefy the fat in the bacon, you are not trying to brown it.
    2. Add the Butter and melt it.
    3. Add the Onion and Celery and saut? until onions to start to get translucent.
    4. Dust this with flour and mix to form a roux. Keep stirring until all of the flour has been incorporated.
    5. Add chicken stock, slowly, while constantly stirring. You are looking for something resembling a gravy at this point. It's going to be very thick.
    6. Next add milk, again slowly, while constantly stirring. This should significantly lighten up your soup at this point.
    7. Turn heat up slightly, it's time to melt the cheese. Add cheese very slowly in small amounts, while stirring constantly. Allow each portion of cheese to melt away before adding the next. Keep stirring.
    8. Now add salt and pepper. Be very careful with your salt. There is a lot of salt in your bacon, and possibly even in your chicken stock.
    9. Next add Worcestershire, Tabasco, and beer. Keep stirring.
    10. Turn down the heat slightly and let simmer or serve. You can garnish each bowl with some finely chopped bacon and chives.
When you are reheating this soup (especially in a microwave) you need to remember the 2 rules. “Low and slow” and “Keep stirring” you want to be constantly stirring this to ensure it blends evenly.

I just decided that I don't care who eats my candy or where they came from to get it... We were sitting in the dr's office with DH today and realized that it makes absolutely no difference to us today b/c we'll be pulling out of our driveway in exactly TWO WEEKS!!! :partythree: Woohooo!!! :partythree:

My dd and I just did our first pass at F&W today. We were using a ranking system of 1-5 (5 best).
Here's what we tasted until we got full:
Hawaii:Pork slider-4 dd doesn't like mayonnaise and still liked this
Desserts&Champ-White choc mousse-5 very good wished it were a bigger portion
Greece-Chicken souvlaki-3 it did not look nor taste like chicken, more like a mild sausage
Ireland-Cheese selection-4 too much cheese as we did not finish, but saved it for later. Lava cake-5 once again wished the portion was larger. Meade honey wine-5 sweet taste, did not taste the alcohol in it (plus for me!)
Belgium-choc seashell truffles-2, these are given to you in a sealed box. Not made up in the kitchen that day. Did not really have much of a choc taste.
Morocco- kefta pocket-3 nice sized and not too spicy
New Zealand-lamb slider-4 dd said hers was too spicy with the tomato sauce. I would agree based on that we don't really like spicy food, but I still finished it.
Hops and Barley-pumpkin mousse-5 loved the sweet taste especially the cake inside.
That's as far as we got today because we were full. Going back on Monday with dh so he can try a few things too.
Weather was awesome today. Nice breeze and not too hot. We didn't wait more than 2 minutes at any booth to be served.
If I ever figure out how to post pics from webshots I will.

That might be the best solution of all, Stef - and I just may join you. We'd pretty much decided last weekend to hang around and hand out candy that night, but now I'm not so sure. I think I may go hang out by the Outpost shortly before ToT starts and see what the inbound traffic looks like and decide at the last minute.
Maybe we should all gather somewhere that night out of the way with our candy... pool pavilion maybe? ...and let other Fiends and campers know THAT is where we'll be handing out the loot and to be sure to come by. (For sure I'll save some for the GG potlucks. :) )
As much as I don't want to reward those taking advantage, I hate to "punish" the kids actually staying at the Fort too.
Whatever Fort mgt says, you're all right that from a purely $ perspective, it costs them nothing to let people in, and surely would cost them a lot to keep them out.
Of course if campers actually threatened to cancel reservations en masse that might get the point across, but we all know that isn't going to happen and that we'd actually have to DO it for them to take us seriously.
But the catch is that it's not just about the money. It's also about security and safety. Increase the population of the Fort by that many people running around in one night - most of which are kids and so many of which aren't familiar with the Fort layout to know you can't just let your kids run around all over the place and in the roads because you're in a "campground" or that there are buses and golf carts EVERYWHERE.
Sadly what it will probably take for Disney to actually crack down is someone getting hurt. And the way these things go, it'll probably be someone that came in from outside and tries to sue the pants off them and results in the Fort canceling ToT altogether.
It's funny that Disney canceled ToT at DTD because it got "too crowded" (read "too expensive") - they seem perfectly fine with letting campers foot the bill for the candy that's luring all these people into their resort for them. (harumph)
Personally I don't even care about the candy. I buy it for the kids and no, they aren't to blame for their greedy, lazy parents.
What I do care about is that Disney is letting piles and piles of people who have nothing invested in Fort Wilderness at all to come in and run all over the place. These people aren't my camping neighbors, aren't registered with the Fort as guests and will disappear into the night when they're done.
That makes me very uncomfortable all the way round, especially because I know there will be older kids in the bunch too... and I also suspect lots of these parents will not be supervising these kids well because they think they're perfectly safe in this "enclosed" environment. It's one thing when you have unruly neighbors who you can go talk to or who at least have to face you the next day - it's another when they're perfect "strangers" that don't give a hoot about you or the Fort and are just there for the haul.
That part bugs me a WHOLE bunch. And if I do see any shenanigans going on that night, you'd better believe the front desk and OSCO will be on speed dial.

Ooh goodie! I like raisins! (WAIT..You're not collecting them from your little dogs are you?)
I don't like those kind of raisins.
Holy Lord, I'm going to agree with Genia (Hold on, I'm feeling faint....)
    Ok, I'm good.
I'm going to keep candy at my site all weekend and any little ones that come around (Or big ones, Steve ) I will gladly give candy to them. I'm going to pass on sitting out Halloween night, handing candy to locals. It just seems like it's rewarding them, and they'll all be back next year.
I am not a scrooge by any means, it just irks me that they're going to allow this.

"Please note that the Trick or Treating at Fort Wilderness is intended for the GUESTS OF THE RESORT ONLY, and is not actually open to the public. There have been major problems in the recent years with hoards of people not staying at the resort coming in for the holiday – including golf cart accidents with injuries and general mayhem.
Fort management has said repeatedly that they will be strongly cracking down on the general public and any other non-FW guests trying to come into the resort this Halloween.
Campers during this time actually pay higher rates because of how popular this holiday has become and do not appreciate it when their vacations are invaded by people looking for a quick and easy candy haul for their kids."

The only reason I can believe it's really Larry is:
    1. lack of punctuation
    2. bad spelling
I'm sure the kids will be flocking to his site for starlight mints! :rofl2: PRICELESS!

Good job, Monique. I sent a comment too.
I believe you may be misrepresenting what trick or treating at the Fort is all about. This is intended for the families who have paid to enjoy the Fort and all it's amenities . The candy being passed out is also provided by the campers. This is not a Disney sponsored event.
Please go and have fun at the Backyard Barbecue, but remember that the Trick or Treating is not part of your experience.
