  1. I realized when we got home from our last camping trip to NY that my Fort Wilderness car magnet was gone from my car. I have several other magnets that are still there so I am certain it was stolen. People can be jerkalopes. Trying to decide if I should just invest in a decal or get a new one next time I go. I just don't get theft, why take something that doesn't belong to you. And my suburban just looks naked now :'(
  2. This so much. While we did go to the Frozen meet and great when we were there in January it was still very much Norway with a little bit of Frozen. I have always loved that Epcot is not very Disney-ish. It has all the perks of Disney, the cleanliness and the amazing service but it's not super character-y. We love the world showcase and I would be sad to see that changed. I really hope they aren't closing down Malstrom to change it, sure some upgrades would be great but please don't change it into Frozen.
  3. Black bottom pools always looked cool but scared the crap out of me. I have some water phobias that involve stuff I can't see and black bottom pools just make me squirm. I had a friend who had one and I could last about 5 minutes before having a full blown panic attack.
  4. Some of these are great but my husband is not a fan of making "improvements" to our trailer. We plan on moving up from our hybrid to a class C sooner rather than later and he'd like it to be original. So because of that I have become friends with lots of 3m hooks. We have one blank wall back by the boys beds so I put up four hooks to hold an over the door shoe holder. I have clutter and this way all the kids little crap (cells phones, games, glasses, etc) go in there. I also put up hooks for their bags. I put up those mounter bowl and plate dispensers but put them up with 3m velcro strips. The
  5. Do you have the app? They are both on there.
  6. Yep, it was unseasonably cold this winter all over the country. We were fine though, we came prepared with a little heater to supplement the heater in our unit. We have a hybrid so it can get chilly in the tent ends but we stayed nice and toasty. Funny though it was only cold a couple of the days, there were also days in the 80s so the kids were able to swim. Winter weather is unpredictable. We always bring lots of variety in clothing. But as I said I'll take a cold day over a hot day, I can always add another layer and no one wants to see me take a layer off, except for my husband.
  7. I figure a cold day in the park is always warmer than back home in Ohio. The cold doesn't bug me. This year we were at the Fort during the polar vortex, it was -20 (or colder at home) and got down into the 30s at the Fort but I kept telling myself "hey this is warm". So yeah melty bad, frozen is a-ok.
  8. Ah hell, I wanna be Mo, I really do but it's fricken hot in Florida and I grew up in perfect San Diego so I am a baby when it comes to heat and humidity so I am Carol. In the non-hot months I am Disney crazy.
  9. I would go for boat rental too because that is what my kids chose.
  10. He wore the hat the entire trip, then he wore it for another two months, he even slept in it.
  11. Found these photos from their first time at Disney and their first time riding in the front of the monorail.
  12. When we waited in line to see them they were still in Norway. I think it fits to have it there but I know the lines were crazy long and made it difficult to get into the area. Hopefully though this craziness will die down soon.
  13. Love these old pictures, I don't have pictures of me as a kid, so I am very envious of those who do. Enjoy them!
  14. First trip with the kids was in 2007. They were 10, 8, 7, 6 and 5 at that time and are now 18, 16, 15, 13 and 12. We last went in January for our oldest's last trip at home. Looking back through these old pictures was so fun, they were so little, can't wait to go back. Kids found a lizard.
  15. having trouble, everyone's photos are cute, I'll get this eventually.
  16. Apparently a tree fell on a tent and that is where the fatalities were. I just can't imagine. Those poor folks. It sounds like this was quite a big campground, the pictures of the damage is shocking. Prayers for all those affected.
  17. I don't mind rustic camping, many National Parks and State Parks don't have hookups so it's not an issue. I was thinking this place would be great until I saw $10 per shower per person, no way in freakin' heck would I pay $10 for a shower, that would cost me $70 for my family.
  18. Depends on where we are camping. This weekend we were camping in the mountains and it rained like crazy. So we just stayed inside the trailer and played games plus I made cookies and hot cocoa to take the chill off. It wasn't easy to keep the teenagers occupied without electricity but we found that playing UNO and poker seemed to hit the spot.
  19. I know my autistic son who have panicked. Heck I am terrified of heights, sometimes I have a hard time just riding on the monorail, so I probably would have had a panic attack trying to evacuate. The rescuers are trained for those sort of incidents though, so I am sure all was well.
  20. Duplicate!!! UGH!!! Apparently I forgot how to use the internet.
  21. Now that would make the horror of getting stuck on the monorail and having to climb out the roof totally worth it.
  22. This is what I love about campers in general. I know my husband has helped several people back in. Sometimes after a long drive down people are stressed and nerves are pretty tight so sometimes all you need is a helpful person you aren't related to to help calm you down. Often when we pull in someplace we drop the kids off at the playground and I'll get out of the car to spot for my husband. It's just not worth arguing.
  23. Looks like such a peaceful trip. There is something to be said about a campground with minimal activities but lots of trees. Looks like a pretty perfect campground.
  24. I'm too cheap, we have never rented a cart. We've brought bikes but mostly we walk or take the buses. I'd rather use that money to extend my stay.
