  1. I'm so glad to see the calliope back in the barn. I wanted my friends to see it when we were there in November, but even our Segway tour guide had no idea what happened to it. Perhaps this is our little apology gift for them planning to put a DVC structure in our midst.
  2. Beautiful job, Lou! I actually like yours better than the original. I, for one, am stunned at how far paint-by-number sets have come. :rofl3:
  3. You bet I've offered apple pie! As soon as my feet hit the ground I'll be at the Fort with apple pie in hand!
  4. Lou, that is seriously one fine chart! I only look for two things when beginning to plan our trips to WDW - the temps and the crowd levels. You've consolidated all those crowd calendars into one chart that I've downloaded and printed out for future reference. Now that's what I call helpful info! Thanks for posting it!
  5. I'm in, too! I'm so excited about this TR! I've been dying to hear about this "wild" trip!
  6. One of my favorite things to do is simply sit outside our RV with my husband and dog, listen to the boat horn, the train horn, and watch the squirrels and the people walk or ride by. On our first Fort trip, it rained the first day, so we just sat beneath the awning and relaxed with the radio playing 60's music, cold beverages beside us, watching the soggy people return from the parks. It is one of my favorite memories.
  7. We did the same thing Judy did. We rented and RV and drove 3000 miles through the interior of Alaska. We even made it up to Dawson City in the Yukon Territory of Canada. We feel as if we did things most tourists don't get to do. It was an amazing trip; you will love Alaska!
  8. I loved those videos! Thank you so much for taking them. I WANT TO BE THERE!!!! But since I'll be there in February, I don't have long to wait to mosey over to the Meadows and simply enjoy the solitude that an early morning at the Fort brings! Well done, TCD! I could have done without that snakeskin picture, however. I hope you didn't show it to your girls. YUK!
  9. I'm still trying to figure out if I think this is going to be a good thing for the Fort. Part of the allure of the Fort is the relative quiet, the natural side, the take-a-walk-back-in-time feeling you get when returning from a day at the parks. Right now, the parking lot is out of view to the campers and the trees and shrubs offer a kind of silent reminder that peace and tranquility are awaiting - after a hectic day of running around the parks. With a large parking lot right behind loop 700 - my loop - and all of the people curious to see how the campers live, I can't see how that is go
  10. Oh, WOW! What a nice compliment! Isn't it great when someone truly appreciates your good work? Congratulations!
  11. Oh, golly gosh, Lou. I so hate to hear that about Dobby. But if I may put in my two cents here, we had an epileptic dog about 30 years ago, a poodle named Brandy. When she had her first seizure, I ran her to the vet and he gave me the same advice that yours did. However, Brandy had another seizure the next week, and another three days later. So, it sounds as if Dobby might have just experienced an incident, rather than having full blown epilepsy. Several of my friends have had dogs throughout the years which have had incidental seizures and those dogs lived long lives. One encouragin
  12. I guess I'm not all that uncomfortable about being tracked at Disney. I mean, I'm tracked everywhere - from security cameras in parking lots to security cameras inside stores. I get the whole 1984 thing - Big Brother and all that -, but if Disney wants to know what I'm riding or where I'm eating, they pretty much already know that through the MB FP touch points. And if it's just the privacy thing, then I'm finding out really quickly on Facebook that too many people don't particularly want to be private anymore. Beisdes that, the MB can't even get the Photo Pass thing right, like Memphis
  13. I just received an e-mail from MDE wanting me to verify my address and pick out my Magic Bands for our upcoming trip in February. I don't want another band; I already have one. I didn't see anywhere on the MDE app where I could graciously decline the offer. What should I do?
  14. We stayed in 356 about 4 years ago. Very difficult back-in, very close to the site next door, very little room. Stay away from this one.
  15. Dave, you are a genius! That was absolutely, totally, unbelievably, remarkably beautiful! I loved every minute of it! Thank you for making so many people happy with that creative display. Did I tell you that I loved it??
  16. Oh, gosh, Gwen. I hope this isn't what Abby had. She had those symptoms, but they are so common and could be symptoms for most anything. Of course, we rushed her to the animal emergency clinic and they pumped her full of fluids all night. But she had vestibular syndrome along with whatever she had. She's doing well now, but it took her four days to begin eating her dog food again. For those who aren't familiar with vestibular syndrome - and I wasn't - it's a virus of the middle ear. The vet likened it to human sea sickness, but Abby looked as if she had just had a stroke - eyes not focu
  17. Hi, Missy and welcome! I'm a Lure-In, too, but by Lou, not Dave. I think they're both pretty good guys, as full of themselves as they are information - but what fun their posts provide!! I hope you thoroughly enjoy posting on this board as much as I do; there are a lot of interesting people who provide up-to-the-minute answers, as well as make you laugh, cry, swear, and even think. All of this to say - WELCOME! You're in the right place!
  18. Congratulations! I'm so proud for your family! Is he not looking to fill a pulpit somewhere, even if it's just Sunday by Sunday? Or did he perhaps go the counseling route - like a family counselor? Whatever his intentions, I'm sure he will keep his heart open to the will of the Lord. Of course, being a carpenter is pretty Biblical in itself. Again, I'm really happy for y'all!
  19. I'm so glad Disney promotes this type of thing around Christmas. I love to go to choral concerts during the holidays and wish I could be there for this one. It just kinda makes me feel all Christmas-y and full of cheer. Way to go, Disney and Wilderness Lodge!
  20. Okay, that's it! Man, I'm gonna get myself one of those Hollywood entourages - you know, with people who publicize and Photoshop all of those celebrity pictures - and, Gwen, you're my head of Photoshopping! If you can make me look that good after a day of dragging around at Hollywood Studios, then you're my girl! With your talent and my mugface, we're going places! Look out, Kim Kardashian! :rofl2: Celebration tomorrow? All Right! Bring on those pictures!
  21. Gwen, your photos are exquisite! I hate to keep saying that over and over again, but I can't get over how you seem to capture the spirit of the parks. As I said before, I feel as if I am right there. I think the camera has a lot to do with the crispness of the photos, but your artistic eye for detail is what makes these pictures so captivating. The picture of that solemn little park in the midst of the chaos of a theme park just took my breath away. Gosh, Gwen, you could almost build an entire scrapbook theme on that one photo! Good job!! Note to self: try to figure out a way to steal
  22. We also have a Ford Triton V-10 but in a Class A. My husband says we get around 6.5 mph towing, and about 7.5 fully loaded without towing.
