twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from djsamuel in Crystal Palace, No Lunch
That's too bad.  We typically do breakfast however, we've had lunch there a few times.   It's expensive to matter how you look at it, so it was always nice to save a few dollars and eat a late lunch vs dinner.  Thanks for passing along the information... it's good to know.

The vet wasn't sure.  She said he "looked good" (perky, good weight, no dehydration... etc).  She wants me to bring in a fecal sample so they can test for worms.  She gave me some medicine (basically an anti-nausea pill for dogs) and advised a bland diet of chicken/rice or (if I didn't want to cook) Hill Science ID.  I bought a couple of cans of the Hill Science ID; that will get me through about 4 days.   If he continues to vomit, she wants to see him back.  For now, she said it could be something simple:  stomach virus (like the flu for people), stress or maybe he ate something (bug, bad flower, etc).
So... right now we're waiting for the vomit (so much fun!) and praying that it was a 24 hour thing and that it is now all GONE.
Oh... and I learned that shoving a pill down a dog's throat is NOTHING like shoving a pill down a cat's throat.  Let's just say, it didn't go over that well.  I finally gave up and smashed one and then mixed it into his food

    Thanks!
Yes Mo, he is VERY loved... maybe a bit too much by our daughter (I'm finding that I have to save the pup from her "love" from time-to-time, haha ).

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Advice for 100 loop!
We've stayed in the 100 loop, several times.  We like how close it is to the marina however... I will say that being that close can be very noisy as well, especially if the Fort is packed and the golf carts are filling the CG.  People park the carts at the marina and the crazies can get very loud when pulling in/out (horns, horns, horns...and yelling).  Also, the EWP is VERY loud in the 100 loop and if you are on the outside (sites 118-124) you'll hear the bus depot when sitting outside as well as the foot/bike/cart traffic on the path coming up from the Marina.
We do enjoy the 100 loop, but (in our opinion) if you want quiet in a preferred site... you may want to consider the far side of the 200 loop or the 300 loop.
As for size, I've seen some large rigs in the preferred sites.. in all three loops (100, 200 and 300) so Disney should be able to find you one that will fit.

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from swimmarz in Vitamix
Update:   We went with the Vitamix.  We actually purchased both (both were on sale at Costco for the same price... the Blendtec did come with a couple extra gadgets for that price).  Our opinion is this...

    - Both are VERY loud
    - Both blend up frozen fruits and ice (we've only made smoothies thus far, so that was what we had to test) however, we think the Blendtec may have tackled it an ounce better.  This is actually the reason we went back and purchased the Blendtec as we were curious if it would blend better than the Vitamix (without having to use a tamper).
    - The Vitamix we purchased did not have the preset buttons, the Blendtec did (I did like those buttons, but did not want to pay extra for the Vitamix to have the option).

So, why did we go with the Vitamix over the Blendec?  These two reasons...

    - The Vitamix has more solid feel to the construction.  Comparing the two, both the base and container of the Vitamix felt more solid/sturdy.  Even though both have comparable warranties, we just liked the feel of the Vitamix as a machine over the Blendec.
    - Main reason for us however, was the taste.  When making the same recipe in each machines, Tom and I both noticed that the Blendtec smoothie tasted more "fluffy" vs the "dense" taste of the Vitamix.  Not saying one is better than the other, just personal preference.  Had product from each machine tasted the same, the Blendtec would have edged ahead and we would have gone with that one.

So, there you have it.  One Fiends review of both the Vitamix and the Blendtec  :)

    Happy Blending!!

I've said it before. . I think it would be so much easier, if Disney simply allowed you to go online and pick your site number when making the reservation, then require you to pay in full, 30 days before you arrive.

Just rode my bike through the following loops; all of them had a spot open and several had 2 or 3 spots open. The 200 loop is more open than full. Spots next to us (we're in 113) are open... maybe a Fiend will snag it?
    700, 900, 1000, 1100, 1500, 1400 and 300.

Hi. I just stopped off at the office and spoke with Jen at the concierge desk; she checked with someone in the back office who said that yes, you may bring in a real Christmas tree and that when you're ready, you may leave it out in front of your cabin and trash service will haul it away.

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Pirateland... Myrtle Beach, SC.
Here are some pictures from Pirateland in Myrtle Beach (www.pirateland.com).  When I made the reservations, I knew that this was "beach" camping...which meant little to no privacy, so I asked the front desk for as "private" of spot as possible.  They were able to put us in spot 1219, which was on the corner and backed up to a small fishing pond, so that was wonderful.  The proximity to the beach is amazing and their pool was a HUGE hit with our kiddos.  Because we now have a truck, we were able to bring our bikes which was a lot of fun :)   Our opinion of the property is mixed.  Pros:  The beach was wonderful (different than the Gulf as the tide goes out and you have this muddy/shell beach that the kids loved digging in) and the pool was great; they also had a good sized general store with decent selection and the property itself is located minutes from Walmart, restaurants, etc...so no problem there. If you're able to reserve a spot with a cabana (not all the sites have one) that's really nice as it provides you shade over your picnic table.  We ate all of our meals outside; don't know that we could have done that without the cabana.  Cons: Landscaping and some curb appeal.  The staff itself was nice, but the actual landscaping crew seemed to spend more time riding around on their lawn mowers, than cutting any grass.  Some of the sites (ours included) had some really tall weeds/grass.  The kind that you'd be better served with a weedwacker, but a mower would be more efficient with such a large community.   We watched landscapers drive by EMPTY sites and not cut them.  Made no sense to us.   On curb appeal, this beach community (like the others nearby) had little "houses" (aka trailers) that were permanent.  Some of these needed some decent repairs.  Our thought was, if their landscapers did a better job around the campsites and the houses and if the covenants for the houses were stricter, the place would look a lot better.  All-in-all, we had a really great time.  Blessed with PERFECT weather.  Warm, but not hot-hot and the humidity felt so much less with the ocean breeze.  It was wonderful :)

This community does not allow personal RV washing, but you can hire a company.  This owner hired someone to wash his RV and I felt bad for the neighbors as I'm guessing their stuff was getting soaked (at one point, they were pressure washing the roof and you could see the spray in the breeze):

This poor man tried to get his RV around a corner... tough to see in the picture, but he clipped the tree with his awning.  Made a horrible sound!  When we saw the RV later, the damage was not near as bad as it could have been, so that was good.

The reason you drive to the beach... to play :)

For those of us Fiends, who are lucky enough to be at the Fort next weekend.... we get an "extra" hour!  I just notice that daylight savings ends next Sunday (November 1st), so don't forget to set your clocks back an hour after trick-or-treating!  :)

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in New ticket offering starting tomorrow
Yeah.. how much was it?  I was thinking $100 if you had an AP?  I was just looking at this and I don't think it would save us any money as we would have to absorb the $150 cost PLUS they automatically add 18% gratuity, which we do not do at the buffet style restaurants... I mean, all they do is bring us one or two drinks and clear a couple of plates and for that they get a tip of $15-$20?  Nope.  I was a server for years and while I would have jumped at a big tip, I would not have expected it for a buffet restaurant.

I am confused on one thing, it states that the gratuity will be added to all meals (except counter), but what about things like the Hoop-Dee-Doo where the ticket price (is suppose to) include gratuity?

twiceblessed....nacole got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Tinfoil... who knew??
So, I was cleaning yesterday and had a lot to accomplish in a small amount of time... which means I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing.  I had turned the back burner of the stove on to boil some water but, had completely forgotten that I had turned it on (and it wasn't red yet) so imagine my "surprise" when I went to pick up the burner to clean under it.  Yeah... not pretty. I burned my left pointer finger and thumb pretty good.  Man it hurt!!  I immediately grabbed some ice (which I later read that you're not suppose to do as it could damage the skin) but hey...did I mention that IT HURT?!!  So, after 10 minutes of holding ice on it, I tried to remove the ice and no good...it hurt too bad.  Then I grabbed a bowl with some water a couple of ice cubes and kept my fingers soaking for probably a good 30-45 minutes.  While in the water, I felt no pain; but the moment I took my fingers out of the water... oh. my. gosh.  Man, it hurt!!

So...off the computer, one good hand and google I went.  Found suggestions for soaking in white vinegar which I did but... it still hurt.  Then I tried a baking soda paste with a band-aid...yeah, no help.  I walked over to my neighbor's house (hand in water) and got some Aloe and that did not help at all (then again it was blue and the second ingredient on the jar of "pain relieving Aloe" was alcohol...what???  ).  So, back to google I went and found a suggestion for tinfoil.  The site said to wrap some foil around your finger (shiny side down) and that this would relieve the pain and aid in healing (because of the metal in the foil).  At this point, I was willing to try anything as my fingers were still burning and I didn't want to have my hand sitting in water all day.  So... tried it and guess what, it worked!  I have no idea why, but as soon as I wrapped my fingers, they stopped hurting!!   This morning I have some blisters, but there is no pain (I have band-aids on both fingers to protect them).  As for the foil, I left the fingers wrapped for a couple hours, then covered with a band-aid.

    Tinfoil...who knew??
