lightbikes reacted to DaveInTN in Don't like those bulky wagons at Disney? This is for you!
In my opinion, the problem at Disney Parks isn't the big strollers, or the wagons.  And the problem isn't the scooters.  The problem at Disney Parks is all of the dadgum people.  There are just TOO MANY PEOPLE in those parks.  Reduce capacity, and allow the folks to just enjoy their day without getting all stressed out over crowds, fastpasses, fireworks viewing spots, long lines, finding a seat at a restaurant, etc.  That's why I bailed on Disney and just go to Dollywood.  I can walk in at park opening without an ounce of planning, ride everything I want, get a great meal without a reservation, walk into a show and find a good seat, and leave not feeling like I need a week of vacation to recover from my vacation.
There are big strollers and scooters at Dollywood.  You just walk around them.  Because you can.

    Hate it...hate it..hate it.
I know we've tossed the idea back and forth but... my gut says Disney will get rid of the Fort.  They've pushed prices as high as they can go and we all agree, the prices are ridiculous and yes, the Fort is full most of the time HOWEVER:  think of the prices on this new resort.  What do you think, $250/night+ per room?  Waterfront suites will cost what, $1000/night?   Then think about how many buildings/rooms they could put on the (Fort's) property?  I don't know.  I think they've been pushing pricing to capitalize on the RV market and to prepare for further expansion.  I mean, this new resort is coming a whole heck of lost closer than I thought it would.  I knew they were taking down the BBQ and stables, but I figured that was for solid green space and a buffer of sorts; it doesn't look like that's the case
My opinion is that they'll be looking at the Fort's property, within the next 10 years.

This news makes me so sad.  I think this property will have such a negative effect on the Fort.  Sad because it’s all getting too expensive, sad because it’s all getting too crowded, sad because we have so many sweet family memories there...and I see the time to make more of those memories, slipping away.  Just sad 🙁

See this is where I just wonder about me. I know a lot of people will do this and increase Disney's $$$. But I'm just thinking (based on when my children were young enough to do these attractions -- and Small World, Little Mermaid, Tea Party -- are these high demand anyway?) you're getting the kids up extra early to get there by 7:45 at the latest so they're cranky, they either eat breakfast before so they're cranky from having to get up even earlier or you wait for breakfast until after 9 and they're extra cranky from hunger. Therefore I'm super cranky having to deal with them.  I might as well take $79/$69 x # in the family and throw it in the lagoon.  But, the rest of y'all enjoy! (in general, not FF specifically)

But but but, the desert parties are just to die for.  And little Melinda just looks so adorable in the 98 degree temps and 95% humidity in her $300 Bippity Boppity makeover.
Ta Ta, we're off to our 4th character meal of the day, the premium plus dining plan is just divine...

I'm in the camp of, if she wants the publicity she'll promote herself.  This isn't just a case of recommending a TA, it's calling attention to the fact that "lives" at the Fort.  There was a lot of hubbub in the past with TAs living at the Fort (not saying specifically Hilda) and I wouldn't think having someone promote this without her knowledge or consent this is something she'd be looking for.

She doesn't call attention to herself, and I think this thread should be deleted.

My sources tell me that, not only is Disney moving to ban all personal carts, but they are also eliminating all of the existing rental carts and implementing a fleet of autonomous "self-driving" Lyft carts.  Rather than renting a cart for the duration of your stay, when you want a ride you order it from the Lyft Fort app, and a Minnie decorated autonomous cart will pick you up and take you to your destination.  No more issues with kids driving, drunk idiots having mishaps, etc.  Fortunately, the carts will have a "Looping" mode, where you tell it to Loop and it will drive around all the loops until you tell it to stop.  Payment is handled through the app and added to your account to be paid at check out.

I can tell you with certainty that Money Grubbing Land is not the new name, however, "Year of a Million Schemes" might work.
The new name was announced internally the day after Iger made the announcement that there would be a name change. Managers were told and some let their staffs know because they assumed it was going to be released to the public within days anyway.  That didn't happen, but the new name was out there.
A lot of time has passed since then and for all I know the name has been changed from what Iger thought it was going to be. If it hasn't changed, IMO,  it's a good name and is not on that silly list of ridiculous names.  I'm not going to divulge what it is, but a clue is that only one word will change.

So again the Fort gets the short end of the stick.
Other resorts have rules and certain wings/rooms are dog friendly, but that's too much to ask of the Fort.
Just like their own site says "dogs not allowed in PUPS and tents", but we've seen plenty staying in them.
Just wait until someone gets sick from or bit by a dog and the lawyers will have a field day.
How can they be so thick headed that they can't designate a loop or 2 for dogs to stay in.

I find the 3 day minimum interesting, and so Disney.  It seems this would be more of an advantage for people who weren't going to already spend 3 days in the parks but it's not offered to them. With a little forethought and some line standing, at most times of the year, couldn't you already do all those attractions you can get an extra FP for.  But then I guess this isn't marketed to people like me who would just plan and stand instead of spend.
