Glad I could be  part of keeping you moving Ed.

Thank you schmuckface,  I forgot where I was posting.   I hereby retract any apologies.  I'm really not sorry.   TCD

Nope - Some Red and sprinkle in some White Stars ... I'm going to sport the Red, White and Blue!

Rita posted earlier about you tumble down the hill

Glad your ok.

Downhill wasn't the problem - I was going 25 mph (probably faster). It was that hidden, VERY sharp turn at the bottom that cause the problem. Handcycles do NOT turn very sharply to begin with (about an 18 foot turn radius) - especially at speed. Add in a turn over 90° into a relatively narrow path, and it was an accident waiting to happen ... and it did.

The Race Staff and some of the bystanders were GREAT. They got the handcycle off of it's side and me back in the seat. They wanted me to be pushed in a wheelchair they had ran down from the finish, but it was only 200 yards or so to the finish so I said I was going to finish. They escorted me to the finish ... and straight to the Medical Tent. I will say that Medical was NOT what I expected. They were Basic First Aid level only - typically the Medical Tents are staffed with EMTs and Higher level staff.  They wanted to call an ambulance! Even 20/20 hindsight I wouldn't have gotten on an ambulance.

It's beginning to look doubtful I will hear anything until I show up for the run. At that point he will have to say yes ... or no. There will be a lot of runners there, so it will look bad for him to say no. IF he does say no, anyway, it will be a VERY expensive decision. It will allow the Department of Justice to get involved with an ADA complaint; I will give the race committee a bill for my travel, hotel rooms and food as well as the registration fees (well over a $1000 worth); and he will get some VERY bad publicity.

Ouch!!!! Glad you were wearing a helmet.

I think you like the second chair more because it is displayed in red and black. Those are good colors.

That's ridiculous about that race giving you problems. I'd show up and see what happens.

I'm glad I had the helmet on, too!

That photo has the chair in Red & Black ... Mine will be Blue & Black

I do plan on showing up. He might have a hard time saying no while looking me in the eyes - especially with a LOT of runners standing behind me.

Awesome pictures from the Shamrock!  And yes, it looks like you're going to have to just show up at the other.  Surely the race director will do the right thing.  It would be nice for him to do the right thing for the right reason, but if that doesn't work, I bet he will do the right thing rather than be faced with a claim for damages for everything you spent getting to that race.

It came down to which one of us beat down the other first. He did give in and say he will accommodate me - but NOT very gracefully and for all the wrong reasons. I still anticipate having a hard time from him when I get there - too bad for him. He doesn't know just how much trouble he can get in messing with an ADA complaint. The sanctioning body (USATF - USA Track & Field) has long recognized the requirements and incorporated ADA accommodations into their rules ... he's just living in the past.
