Glad I could be  part of keeping you moving Ed.

Thank you schmuckface,  I forgot where I was posting.   I hereby retract any apologies.  I'm really not sorry.   TCD

Nope - Some Red and sprinkle in some White Stars ... I'm going to sport the Red, White and Blue!

Too early for photos, but I rocked and rolled the Bainbridge, GA Half Marathon this morning. Place 1st Place in the Wheelchair Division and got special recognition during the Awards Ceremony - Announced, "Ed Russell. 1st Place in his Division. A Vietnam Veteran racing in a Handcycle. Let's congratulate him and Thank him for his Service!"  This was from the same Race Director that registered me for HALF price! EVERYONE there was fantastic! A couple of reporters from the local papers want to interview me! Bainbridge rocks!

Back from the Springtime Tallahassee 10K - 50:49; 1st place Handcycle; Racing Chair App says my max speed was 63.5 kph (almost 40 mph). I was trying to take it easy on the hills because it was raining and my brakes were wet. I knew I was moving along, but it didn't seem like I was going that fast. :dropjaw:  Free beer to rehydrate ... and not the cheap stuff, either! :doublebeer:

I did hear back from him ... eventually; he did say I could race http://tothedopeyandbeyond.blogspot.com/2014/03/a-minor-win-but-ill-take-it.html; because of life (and the weather), I didn't make that race http://tothedopeyandbeyond.blogspot.com/2014/03/after-all-hassle-life-goes-on.html; because I missed that race is the reason I flew the racing chair back. I did make a 10K and a 5K locally to make up for missing the Eastern States 20 - http://tothedopeyandbeyond.blogspot.com/2014/03/springtime-tallahassee-10k.html

Florida's Space Coast  http://www.visitspacecoast.com/ is one of the sponsors ... and were NOT aware that the Race did not allow special needs athletes to enter. The first words from them, "Don't they know about the ADA?" The Space Coast Director is on vacation right now, but the Assistant Director is "looking into it". I MIGHT have contacted the Primary Sponsor - Publix - also. There's going to be some unhappy people shortly - imo.

Finally caught up. What an AWSOME report! And good for you, keeping these race directors aware of ADA compliance. I'm sure many others will also appreciate you doing so. Being the daughter of another Vietnam Veteran, I truly appreciate your service to our country. Keep up all of the great work! I look forward to reading about your upcoming races!
