Gorgeous view from the Contemporary. I guess it's too late for the TofT ride photo, but next time you need to remember to go for asking forgiveness rather than asking permission. Because now we need to see that photo. Did I miss something about the bag of hangers?? Looking forward to the rest.

I did that many moons ago with a lipsyncing rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody that her and her mother did to entertain my then very young daughter. She now knows to specify that things are deemed "not shareable" without me asking.

 

I didn't mention the hangers before. My wife way overpacked and we had more hanging clothes than we had hangers - even after double-hanging various things. I could housekeeping once to request more. About a half hour later, they called US asking if they had been delivered (they weren't). And a half hour after that, when we left, I called and said they still weren't there but that we were leaving. Ultimately, they did drop off the 21 hangers (I requested "a handful"- someone has HUGE hands). But, it was just a one of many little misses at the Contemporary.

As I thought of how hot it was in Florida, I read something on Facebook that said, "Hide yo kids, hide yo wife, it's going to be cold tomorrow!". Apparently back home it was a freak 50-degree day. So, I saved it for posterity.

 

We got ourselves put together and headed out for the day. Obligatory morning selfuses:

Needing pictures of all modes of transportation, we're now on a boat:

(I'm trying to remember how we got from the Polynesian to the Yacht and Beachclub. I'm pretty certain we took a bus from the Poly to Hollywood Studios and then a boat to the hotel.)

I debated holding onto this one for a "Where in the World?" post, but I was afraid that it was too obscure. So, where are we?

Because it was a slow day, I was invited to sit in one of the massaging chairs beside my wife. BUTTONS!

 

I'm smiling for the picture, not for the chair. She loved it; I hated it. But, I dislike massages in the first place where she's like, "oh yeah, get in there and bruise me."

 

We returned to Hollywood Studios by boat. We had to get our DHS time in before the Star Trek Wars freaks (fans) took over. One of us beat the other at Toy Story:

Then we walked around a bit. Which is unusual for us- as our days are usually hectically planned and we're running here, there, and everywhere.

 

She remembered that Cinderella's Coach was there. So we went and found that:

The coach was pretty neat.

 

Once Upon a Time fans will recognize this (I didn't, but she spotted it right away):

 

We were going to walk up the big hill to see the bridge better. But when I got closer, it was a LOT steeper than I was prepared for.

 

So what else was there to do? Why selfus, of course!

Next up was watching the Indiana Jones show. I haven't seen this in years. It's pretty much what I remember- but still fun to watch.

 

I did take some slow motion videos as I played with my iPhone. I also had to use Verizon's web chat to figure out why my home internet wasn't working for the kids and mother-in-law. When our internet down- we have no internet, no TV, and probably no phone. They had to have fun without all that- GASP! I KNOW!

 

Heading out from DHS, we stopped for an ice cream sandwich for her.

 

And, apparently no picture of it- but because of my birthday button- the clerk asked me what I wanted and gave me a chocolate covered Mickey Head. Though, like most things- I shared with my beautiful lady:

 

That looks like 30 pictures, which works as a good break because we left there and headed BACK to the Yacht and Beach Club for dinner. Next up will be dinner and fireworks pictures. :)

Let me power through the rest of this day, as next up will be the 24-hour event. As promised, we went to dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Longest review shortest- we were very underwhelmed. The atmosphere was nice. But, the steaks weren't cooked to order (my wife's "well-done" steak was red inside; they took it back and the new one came out crunchy on the outside). I get that a well done steak is a travesty to steaks, but if that's what she likes and orders, it is what it should be. They were good about it, though. So, here we go with pictures.

 

Here's the meatroom. Something about temperature and humidity controlled. I don't know.

While we waited, we did the completely unexpected. Took selfies and kissed!

(Taking a selfie and kissing is not nearly as easy as kids these days would lead you to believe. You need to see that it took the picture, but look creepy with your eyes looking at the camera!)

 

One cute thing is that they have "Happy Annivesary" menus that they use:

Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail appetizer:

Filet Mignon (cooked medium well- gasp, I know):

Brussel Sprouts something or other. These were WAY undercooked to the point of being slightly crunchy and don't get me started on the pork rinds on top- no idea what those were and could have done without trying them.

Complimentary Anniversary Desserts (these were remarkably good- I was afraid they'd be too frou-frou for my tastes, but they were good):

 

Rather than take the 2-step trip back, we grabbed a $15 cab ride from the Yacht and Beach Club to the Contemporary:

 

We sat out on the balcony for fireworks. What's interesting from this perspective is how far "behind" the castle the big fireworks actually are.

 

And then we went to bed. Our goal was to leave the room by 5:15am the next morning in order to be able to see the opening ceremony for the 24-hour event. I'll cover that in the next update.

I can't believe there are truly people who don't like massages.  I am more like your wife.  In fact, most trips to the mall include a 15 minute stop at Brookstones for a session in one of their massage chairs.

Yep, for the most part hate them. I do enjoy a hand/arm massage with a manicure. But, it all has to be gentle.

Nice balcony view.  It is definitely "different" seeing the fireworks from the Contemporary.  We watched them from CG in December and the perspective is way different than watching them from the park, or even from the Fort where you can't see the castle very well.  

 

They don't pipe the music onto the room balconies, do they?

They didn't pipe music into the balconies, but you could definitely hear the musical score from there. You just couldn't hear the talking part. I would think that Disney would have a TV channel that you could tune to in order to have music, but we didn't look. I know the Bellagio in Vegas did that with their fountain-view rooms.

There's definitely music piped into Cali Grill, as well as the outdoor viewing areas there.  I don't see why they can't have music available in the rooms.  But like you said, maybe they do and you just didn't know it.

She'll do it. She doesn't care for it but has learned over the years that sending it back ends up with a tough mess. I'll give the folks at Yachtsman credit- Mandie told the waitress it was way undercooked but declined sending it back. The waitress talked to the manager and they cooked up a whole new steak and brought it out.
