My youngest who is 10 has never been there. He would rather save up for a trip to Disney every other year than go there.We used to live behind Kings Island! Could watch the fireworks every night! I've gone a few times and am MORE than frustrated when I get stuck waiting for close to an hour for a 2 minute ride. :faceplant2: Just not the same waiting for a ride when there is NOTHING clever to look at, listen to, or watch while you wait. :gaah:I'd rather travel 1200 miles, spend more, and enjoy the Disney that Disney does SO well! :stars-shower-smiley: Quote Link to post Share on other sites

But I believe there are people in this world that don't have "magic receptors". They are incapable of feeling magic. Heck, I think they are incapable of enjoyment. Some people just need to be miserable. Also, like stated earlier, there are also those that have a bad Disney experience because they run from pillar to post all day then go collapse into bed in their hotel, and get up the next morning and do it again. They feel stressed about needing to "get it all in", that they don't really enjoy any of it. Kinda sad, really. And then they go home from vacation and tell everyone "never again!". There are so many small experiences that people skip over at WDW.If you get around to doing everything, fine. If you don't, they'll be another trip.I know it's hard to believe, but there are things that I haven't done at every park. In fact we're going over to MK to get caught up on a few tomorrow. We decided that we weren't going to be concerned with "getting it all in" and just meandered. We went to Epcot on Day 1. Walked in, pretty much went straight to World Showcase and stayed in World Showcase until after the fireworks. That was the year that they had the Millenium Village set up. We spent all day eating, drinking, and shopping around the world...dropped almost a grand, never rode a ride, still one of our greatest Disney days. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Don't get me wrong I'm all for going and looking at the cattle and farm shows at our fair and the smells of all that food cooking are great I even enter paintings in the art show but again I ask you HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT PUTS TOGETHER AND OPERATES THE RIDES AT THE FAIR??? They get there (either Christmas, or most crowded time in the summer), can't get into restaurants, have 4 hours waits for lines, or can't even get in the parks cause they are closed to capacity, and say NEVER AGAIN. I just talked to a friend that always says Disney is a rip-off and gives me crap for going. Well he told me he had no problem spending around a thousand dollars for 1 day at the county fair for 4 people.Debating with ignorant people is like banging your head aginst a wall and expecting to hurt the wall. I can take my family, me DW, and DD to WDW for a week in the summer for about $4200 and that includes airfare, ASmusic resort, park tickets, and all meals and souveniers.Or i can go on a week long Carnival cruise for about $4200. That includes airfare and a window room, no balconey.I also can go to Key west florida at the same time for about $4000 and that includes air, hotel, car, and food. NOt including gas, souveniers or entertainment.I have done the math a dozen times and when you look at the actual numbers it is a pretty good deal, in my opinion.If your friend wants to bad mouth Disney let him but if you want do the math with him and show him the errors in thinking. Sitting one night doing some online research for our next trip, and found the fiends with a search. I had never seen the site before, so I decided to take a look. Little did I know that the site had just been "born", or the reasons for the birth. Didn't matter, I found a group of like-minded individuals who collectively have a huge amount of information and are interested only in helping each other have a great time on vacation. Gutta go here, gutta go there. Slow down.Have a rough plan of the major things you want to do and about when you want to do them and then let the rest just happen.WDW will be here for a while. BradyBzLyn...Mo 2,023 Posted February 20, 2012 Report Share Posted February 20, 2012 I'm a compulsive planner... can't help it.Our first few trips were scheduled practically by the hour because we weren't sure if/when we'd be coming back and we didn't want to miss anything.But as time went on and we knew we definitely would be coming back, and our trips got longer and longer, the pressure to plan... well ANYthing really, went away.Now I usually have a loose schedule based around the park hours, and a handful of ADRs for places we know we really want to go to.Then we get there and I pretty much never look at the schedule again!I have the Lines app from Touring Plans, so while we're enjoying a leisurely brunch at the campsite (never quite make it up early enough for breakfast) we scan through what's open when (we like evening EMH), what the crowds levels are predicted to be, what sounds like something fun we'd like to do that day, and we wing it!Not only is it a lot more fun, it also makes us feel like we're actually on VACATION - and not doing a Theme Park marathon.Having APs really helps too, since park hopping is built in. It gives us the flexibility to do random things like.... go to MK to watch the fireworks, grab a dole whip (of course), poke around some nooks and crannies and leave. Or pop over to Epcot for a meal or HS just for a late night EMH.These days our trips are fun and relaxing - and a great vacation all around!! Quote Link to post Share on other sites
