We travel extensively and are finding more and more hotels that charge resort fees.  Hotels all over Orlando, even ones outside of the Disney bubble, are now charging resort fees.  We are going to Las Vegas next month and every hotel except maybe a Motel 6 is charging a resort fee.
Besides if Disney raises their nightly room rates people will notice immediately when they are on line comparing prices. But if they sneak in a resort fee, like other resorts. People dont notice the resort fees easily.
Also WDW’s nightly room rate will be more inline with surrounding resorts nightly room rate.

You can experience that and more when booking the Magic Four Way Special at Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino.  And it'll cost a lot less than $12,000.  Well...a little less anyways.

Alcohol is included. So if you went with 5 more heavy drinkers you could make Disney lose money for the day.

The year of a million schemes keeps rolling along.
I guess if you're paying $2,500/ night to stay in an over water bungalow, what's $12,000 for a 1 day park tour.

I won't disagree but one could also say labeling everything is an overreaction or not putting in the effort to determine if their products use items on the list. I also won't deny the list has some questionable materials though.
The initiative process is common in western states. It has its pro's and con's. In California I think it has been somewhat out of control for a long time. It is good as it allows for direct democracy to override the state legislature when they ignore the populous and do what they want. Its major failing is in a large state like CA it is relatively easy to get find enough people to sign petitions for fringe or not well thought out ideas. It has also become more open to corporate and special interest manipulation in recent years as means to get around the state's business and liability laws which goes against the original intent of the initiative process in the state constitution. Having lived in the state a couple of times I think even with its problems it is a good process. Most initiatives never make it to the ballot or fail the vote and it is a way to correct legislature inaction or overreach. One thing I think that would help is to increase the 5% of the population requirement for petitions to something like 10 or 15 percent to force more thought into initiatives early in the process.

I've never seen tri-tip on the Trails End menu but would certainly welcome the change if they did.

I wish they would offer admission only passes like the good old days and then you could purchase what rides you want to go on.
My wife and I are happy just walking around, catching some shows and the parades.

This jaded/veteran visitor wouldn't use it. As convenient as it is, I hate it when they route you backstage to empty out a park. When I'm at WDW I prefer wall-to-wall, 24/7 magic... even if that means crowds.
We stay until park close most of the time and we never count on getting out quickly or easily.  Instead we pull up a snack or a drink, find an out of the way bench to chill out and people watch until the crowds clear, then enjoy strolling out of a mostly empty park.
But hey, we're crazy like that.

WDWNT recently reviewed the Bacon Mac n Cheese Spring Rolls in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom.  I have to say, this review was refreshing in its honesty after reading the typically positive reviews on most sites of anything Disney is selling.  However, I'm not sure the author will be invited to the next blogger special event or party after writing stuff like this:

Imho, the cabins are definitely not worth the cost for a family of 4 or below unless you have a CM discount or your sharing with another family.  I’m sure Disney knows this since the majority of the time, there are many empty cabins.  As far as other Disney resorts go, besides the value resorts, I can not afford them so I can’t comment if they are worth the price.  I will say, I know most of the rooms at the higher end resorts are your basic hotel room with upgrades like a new tv like every other resort in the world. The contemporary is a great example. I suppose with that resort, you are paying for the convenience of the location. For well over $500 a night, your paying for something.  Living close to WDW makes us locals look at things differently....I think.  I have friends up north who save all year for that magic vacation that may take 5-6 grand out of your wallet, so I guess it’s a deal for them.  I know at the moment since I’m trying to plan a once in a lifetime trip to Disneyland next year. I don’t think it’s going to happen due to price.  This is why I complain about the cost of the campsites now going so high. A once a year trip to the best campground in the country may seem ok to pay a high price, but to a local who wanted to get away from time to time to visit Disney on a budget is now gone and will never come back
