What a trip so far
PGHFiend replied to PGHFiend's topic in RV Repairs on the Road, at FW and Elsewhere
I think you'll like it. We has a ton of fun! Let me know if you have any route questions -
Sat in a bit of a line today getting through the MK gate on the way to the Fort. They are putting up a new traffic signal at world and Vista Blvd. It was causing a major backup through the right 4 gates.

Check the max load of the tires and weigh your rig . Only you can be sure that you're good -

Hey there, welcome. Do yourself a favor and bring a thermos as mentioned above. If I saw you lighting a sterno in the park I would 1) think what the heck is wrong with this guy 2) figure you were going to blow something up and 3) get a cast member. I don't think it's aggrivation you want. Although I think the Brazillan tour groups would love some good Columbian

The sites are close, but not as bad as you would think, it's prime real estate. We had site 97 in 2013 and we are on site 236, both were assigned to us and I would try to book 236 again, it's in a great spot, and might be the biggest non premium. We like the beachfront sites; there is no shade there are inland sites in a tree grove, but it seems really cramped and the rv's there seem a little older for some reason. The beach here is amazing , not cramped at all and because it's a campground and not a hotel, people have lots of activity options and it clears out about 3. Yesterday wife an -

Thanks everyone, Nacole, this is what happens when you get an "old diesel". And BTW, one of the guys that came to help us out had a sweeet 2011 super duty 6.7 crew he bought a few months ago with 145k miles on it. Said he got it for 33k and you could not tell it from new. -

You have no idea how lucky I am. I try to treat everyone with respect and this was one of those times it came back to me. I blew the line right after fueling up so I thought it was bad fuel, I had my wife find a napa up ahead and it was 16 miles down i77. The gps took me to a dead end residential street instead of the napa- unreal. At that point I saw smoke and smelled diesel and knew something was wrong. As I pulled into the napa in Hillsville, VA, a guy came walking up and asked if I needed any tools, as he was inside when I called the clerk to check on a fuel filter. When we popped the hood -

Thanks Mo, now that we've settled in the fridge is holding it's own....for now. I have to post the whole story from yesterday just for kicks -
I had a major breakdown today on I77, my number 3 injector line snapped off at the fuel pump. We got it fixed and made it to myrtle Beach. We are heading to the fort next, later this week. Problem is now that our dometic fridge is not working , freezer good, fridge bad. Anyone have any luck with any fridge guys at the fort?

Torque is your friend! It's a measure of rotational force and the engines ability to maintain that rotation. We are on our way to the fort via myrtle beach- I am sitting in the Wytheville VA cracker barrel and got through all of the crazy mountains last night- my truck pulled my 8500 lb 5th wheel 65 to 70 mph except the steepest of hills, never slower than 55. I have 460 torque and im happy with it. I'm also getting my best tank mpg yet at 14.5 mpg. Horsepower is the ability to do work over time, and is kind of like figuring out how long it would take you to get up a grade. (I haven't loo

Travel Advice
PGHFiend replied to Littleolwoman.aka.Kristie's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
Always check them with the temp gun, it's an easy way to spot trouble early. Check slickdeals for one, that's where I got mine, maybe 12 bucks? -
If money was no object I'd get a blown out super duty platinum. Since money is, I have a 2002 ram with a diesel -makes 460 ft/lbstorque gets great mileage, BUT- you can get an f150 eco boost with max tow and it will have almost 450 torque. If it's power you are after, I will tell you my Dodge is really powerful towing, and I couldn't imagine having the 6.7 ford diesel with 800 torque and I also couldn't imagine the payments either at this point in my life. I think you should consider a 3.5 ecoboost crew cab- at least test drive one

Cut the cable cord...
PGHFiend replied to twiceblessed....nacole's topic in Budget Board and Disney Discounts
We cut in October (Dave Ramsey) and are doing ok. Internet only and a winegaurd freevision antenna on the roof- does pretty good. Got hulu and netflix instant, and a Roku 1. Now I also bought my own modem on ebay ($17) so I don't have t pay a rental fee anymore. The first few weeks were hard, now I'm pumped when I don't send Comcast $100 extra a month to pump commercials into our house. And the 1200 annual savings is about the cost of 2 AP's! -
Can you deal with an extended cab? 2wd is really affordable, here's a 2011 http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=34746&endYear=2015&inGalleryView=true&fuelTypeGroup=DSL&driveGroup=RWD&showcaseOwnerId=66343&startYear=2011&makeCode1=FORD&searchRadius=200&maxPrice=30000&showcaseListingId=397768835&mmt=%5BFORD%5B%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=398880968&Log=0

That last one is a rare find for sure. For me to spend over 20 grand on any vehicle, Anything over 125K or so is too many in my opinion for that price range. Once you get past that mark, anything could happen- especially the ones you posted with 200K on them. I could see if they were 15K or so , but IDK, thats a tough call. And I have to ask, for me its a must, do you need 4x4? In hotlanta? I searched in Orlando for something I would like, and this is more my speed- lower miles, a little older to save some dough, but excellent condition. If I was in the market, I would buy this tomorrow- a
