  1. Roberta, as TCD said... "Relax" you will fit in just fine. In fact, you will blend in just fine. I'm sure others can weigh in, but I have seen all kinds of camping equipment while camping at the Fort. I have seen U-Haul trailers being used as campers, road tractors, horse trailers, and even saw someone once camping in a boat on a trailer. You already know that campers are some of the most welcoming and friendly folks out there... Once you pass through those gates (heck even before you pass through the gates), you just need to enjoy yourselves and have a great time!
  2. Beckers, When you get your rental car, and if it has their version of the SunPass or any other sort of toll tag (depending on where the car is licensed), make sure the lid is closed or the lever is flipped in a way so that it will not work. The safest thing to do is to remove it from the glass and place it in the console of the car until the rental is over. Most of the time these things are affixed to the glass by some sort of Velcro. It would be terrible to get home and receive a bill for tolls plus their "convenience fee". Also, if you are using your Dad's SunPass, and its the porta
  3. Just walked out to the mailbox and retrieved by box from Disney containing my Magic Band... As Jen said, the new style Magic Bands are being shipped even though the website still shows the pictures of the old style. They even threw in the little passholder slider. Now just need to go and schedule a trip!
  4. Oh okay good to know... Since it really doesn't matter to me which style I get, I will go ahead and order to see what comes in the mail. As long as I am allowed to enter the turnstile at the park, I will be good to go!
  5. I got around to linking my AP "card" last night with the MDE app and the Magic Band order request came up. I went in to customize the band, but only had the choices of the current styles... Since I don't have a trip on the horizon as of yet, thought I would wait a few days to see if anything changes and the new style bands were added.
  6. I feel your pain Roberta... I was trying to download some pictures from MDE website on Saturday and it kept telling me that the password and/or username was incorrect... Just to make sure that I hadn't been hacked, I tried to login through the iPhone app with the same credentials and had no problems...
  7. I just spoke to my daughter and she and some of her friends went to see it last night... She called me a little while ago and told me that she absolutely loved the movie, and she is not a die hard Star Wars "groupie" either... In fact, she has asked one of her friends who has all the prior movies to borrow them over the Christmas break so that she and I can watch them all... So if you happen to be in the neighborhood over the holidays with nothing better to do, stop by and watch with us!
  8. I was in Tampa the past couple of days for work and wandered over to Disney Springs last night to kill some time and to have my AP activated. I asked the CM who activated my AP about when I would be able to request my band. She said that now that the AP had been activated, that an order request would be generated for me to go in and customize the band... I'll let you guys know how it turns out... I just got back home a little while ago, so haven't had a chance to take a look yet.
  9. Also in some sites, the extra hose bib is connected to a soaker hose that is used to water some of the new foliage that they planted after some of the unwanted undergrowth was cleared out.
  10. One other thing to check aside from your daily rental rate is for insurance coverage.... Check with your credit card company as some cards will cover the insurance if you use that card for the rental. Also check to see if your personal insurance will cover a rental car as well and get the details. My insurance agent (State Farm) once told me during a conversation around this, is that if you use your personal insurance to cover the car and something happens, the personal insurance would pay to repair the car, however, the rental car company could come back and charge you for lost revenue wh
  11. I'm sure some of the Ford owners will be along shortly to verify, but from what I remember when I had my F-250 back in 2008, I would just leave the truck in drive and if I needed for it to down shift, I would just tap the brake and it would do it. If the level of the grade caused the truck to accelerate past my comfort level or overspeed the engine, even if it was operating in a lower gear, I would depress the brake pedal firmly to slow the truck down the immediately release the pedal... Whatever you do, you do not want to ride the brakes so that they overheat.
  12. Either loop 1200 or 1300 is on my list to try next trip... It looks as though the sites in those 2 loops are some of the most private (at least the inside loops) with all of the vegetation. What did you think about your site overall?
  13. Hey, maybe they will use all of the DVC vans to hustle these folks around the property... and while they are in the van, offer up a sales pitch and schedule a tour... $$$
  14. Thanks Nacole for the pictures and the review... When I used to perform office moves in the Brandon area a couple of years ago, if I had time to kill before catching a flight home, I would always go over there and wonder around the sales lot. It is a convenient location to a lot of things in the area...
  15. Its been several years since we have been to the area, but I found this updated page that lists a lot of businesses and areas that have been effected by the fires. I'm sure there are several folks on here who are wondering how that favorite hotel, shop or restaurant fared during this tragic event. Updated List of structures damaged as of Wednesday at 6:01pm
  16. What is the deal with Disney starting up and adding more events around dining?. They are attempting to do this with the River Boat, selling pizza in the All Stars' bus line, drinks and snacks in the Epcot parking lot, and using the booths that have historically been used for the Flower and Garden and Food and Wine at Epcot for food during the holidays... I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing, it just seems like they are throwing things at the wall just to see what will stick.
  17. If any of you Fiends happen to be in Italy looking to catch Moana in theaters, don't look for the name Moana... Look for Oceania. Disney changes Moana title in Italy Turns out that in Italy, the name Moana is synonymous with a famous Italian adult movie star
  18. When we were at the Fort before Halloween, we managed to finally get into the Chase lounge after waiting about 15-20 minutes for some folks to come down, and like Lone-Star said, it was nice... pretty much the same as years before. We also managed to get into the DVC Lounge on another day... Had to show our membership card to gain access... It too was nice, places to sit, a couple of those Coke Freestyle Machines and a Keurig machine. They had a person walking around with a cart handing out free snacks like potato chips, cookies and gummies... All in all it was a nice place to rest and hav
  19. As much as I hate to say it, but I could see Disney imposing and enforcing this "minor" detail to make up for the cheap(er) price...
  20. The Beach Club usually has a carousel on display in their lobby that is made from chocolate... Its pretty impressive as well
  21. Jason, where is states: "and may not be used to enter the same Park more than once", does that mean that I have to physically stay within that same park for as long as I want, and if I decide to leave to go back to my hotel or campsite for a swim or nap, that I can't come back to that same park later on in the day?
  22. Can't add to anything to what has already been covered, but Welcome to the group and we would love to see pictures of your trailer when it's finished...
  23. The airbed that came with the sofa had a couple of straps that held it to the frame so when the bed was folded up the air mattress slid down behind the sofa. The new bed does not have any straps and has had no affect on its operation or use. When we are out camping, we make the bed the first night with a mattress cover and bottom sheet. When we put it away, I just deflate it, leaving the mattress cover and bottom sheet still attached, and close it up like usual. The mattress slides down behind the sofa. When we leave to go home, or no longer using it for that particular trip, I remov
  24. Or, what if they did something similar to BOG with a bit of a twist... B'fast buffet like it is now, change over to counter service for lunch with items that could be made to order, and back to a dinner buffet in the evening...
