Rachel had her annual dance recital this weekend. She received her 8 year award from the studio where she dances. In total she has been dancing for 12 years.

I get that. It wasn't for everybody. But I thought it was wondrous and illuminating (there's my two new dictionary words of the day.... LOL)
I couldn't wait to see what new exhibits were going to be in Innoventions, or was it Communicore back then?  I remember calling home from a giant car-sized cell-phone and being inside a tornado.
I was fascinated by how a car was designed and built, How my body fought off infections, and where energy came from. How hydroponics might work on other planets, and how singing vegetables made lunch seem more interesting. How photographs were made, how submarines could go so deep in the ocean (and what they saw when they got there.... hint, it wasn't Nemo.... ;-)
But the best stuff of all was when they showed that our "Journey into Imagination" had just begun. It truly was "Future World".  At each turn there was an effort to amaze, engage, and inspire. There was a sense of optimism that "If We Can Dream It, We Can Do It" that is sadly missing now.
And I was amazed. I know it wasn't the thrill rides of the other parks, but when the lights go down in "Energy" and the entire auditorium breaks up and starts moving (WOW, I still remember that first time it did that) and when on "Horizons" you get to pick what future you want to see, or when your ship is miniaturized and is flying through a "Body Wars", that's when I felt as though I had been on the ultimate thrill ride.
That feeling of amazement and optimism stayed with me a lot longer than the brief smile from a roller coaster. It was a time when "Future World" lived up to it's name and for me as a kid it left an indelible impression.
 

Hi all!  Just checking in from The Fort!  We are in the inside loop in 1400.  Great spot from what I can tell so far.  We have had a long two days. Traveling all day yesterday with a major delay so it was 10:30 before we got to the poly.  We had an early morning at Chef Mickey's and a quick stop at the magic kingdom.  We got to the fort around 2ish.  
The travel trailer we rented is in phenomenal shape and Andrew from Meechams was fantastic.  We got our baby stuff delivered and a propane gas grill by 4:30. By that time I was pooped, and we decided to not go grocery shopping and we ended up at trails end.  Wow was that good! We love having a golf cart. It was nice when We stopped at Meadows and got a few things. Got back unpacked, bathed the kiddos and they are peacefully sleeping and we are having a glass of wine!  A good day overall. I may take this update and start a trip report.

Every time we go to DS or former DTD, we just feel like it's a money grab.  The constant advertising to get you there makes you feel there is more to do than just spend more money. It's definitely not on our radar as part of a complete trip. This is just another example of the grab. 

Wow, they must expect a lot of diners and bar goers to fill all those seats in DS.  I'll be curious to see how the tapas place is.  
Speaking of tapas places, a funny thing happened to me many years ago.  As tapas restaurants were first beginning to sprout up in America, I was traveling for work in Tampa and a group of us went to a tapas spot that was highly recommended.  It was a fun and loud place, and I had a few drinks and was enjoying the food and music.  Later in the evening, my cell rang and it was INC calling to say hi.  As my speech may have been slightly slurred, and the place was quite loud, when she asked where I was and I answered in a loud voice due to the music "A TAPAS BAR!", she thought I answered "A TOPLESS BAR!".  
That was a very uncomfortable conversation.

We bought AP's this year. We've done 3 1 weeklong stays at the fort this year and we have 2 more trips planned this year. There are some negatives, but we're having the time of our lives. We're planning on the same next year. 

If you are still enjoying your trips, and making good memories with your kids, by all means take those trips.  Keep in mind that everyone on here is in different stages of their Disney relationship.  Some have been going for many years and are jaded.  Others have been going a long time and will continue, as they simply love Disney.  Many more are in the early stages of their Disney crush and the magic is still being made.  If your only doubts about continuing on your journey are due to the opinions of others, please pay them no attention.  You may come upon Disney burn out on your own, in your own time.  But if you're not there yet, go and enjoy yourself.  Even I, a recovering Disney addict and sometime hater, still find many things at WDW that I enjoy, despite my complaining.  Don't let me or anyone else get you down.

Just read an article on chip and co and that to ride the boat ride you must transfer from a wheel chair and no accommodations for FOP.  So basically Pandora is pointless for anyone who is handicapped.

I know I asked before and think you sent me one, do you have the svg's on the Disney things she made? does she mind sharing them? let me know. I have been trying to make some things for our new to us MH but sort of got lazy, plus I couldn't make up my mind on what colors to use. The wood is beautiful in it, but dark. I wanted to use something bright, so I picked red, well that doesn't really lighten it up. I brought a comforter for the bed and picked yellow, that helped, so I began running with yellow. then I realized I did black, red, yellow guess who's colors that matches?

What's the big deal about mixed drinks when they're serving beer and wine anyway?
In this era of money grubbing, it surprises me that they've resisted the temptation to open full bars in the MK.  They would make a ton on those.

It was a two street. Disney CMs, no matter how high up, love to make what are called "Magical Moments", and as Dave can now verify, the CMs involved enjoyed making it happen. And unbeknownst to him, the GM and the CMs involved, got to see his reaction after receiving the sign. It was a nice moment for everyone involved. 

Stopped by to read the responses to your surprise gift. I know how important this was to you and so glad that it worked out as it did. I'm not too surprised that the WL GM did it, just at how quickly it all happened. Long live Melvin.

Most should start arriving Thursday. Mo and Nicole are planning to ditch the snow up north and arrive on Wednesday.
