The point that everyone seems to overlook as they look back at the past is that River Country was not a perq for those staying at the campground - it was a separate ticketed entity which just happened to share the parking lot with the Fort.  Yes, it was close and you could walk to it from your camper, but it was not part of the Fort.  Following that logic EPCOT belongs to the Boardwalk because it's close and you can walk to it.

Well, here is the full history I have been able to put together - Fort Wilderness opened November 19, 1971 on 750,at that time it had 231 camping sites including loops 100 - 600.
    June 1973 added 481 sites, loops 700 - 1900
April 8, 1974 "Treasure Island" opened with a pirate theme
    April 1974 Pioneer Hall opened
April 1976 Treasure Island renamed Discovery Island and became an accredited Zoological park
    June 1976 added 113 sites, loops 2000 - 2100
    June 1976 River Country opened
April 1979 added Creekside Meadow group camping area
    December 1986 added 383 cabin sites, loops 2200 - 2800
June 2008 New "Premium" site level created with the conversion of existing sites

So, I guess the answer is 1976....

Yea, they have changed the pet rule wording multiple times.  Here is what I have on my web page.  The first statement is from the old FW Q&A they had on line.
    Q. Can you tell me more about keeping my pet at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground?

    A. Specific areas of Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground have been made available to Guests with pets. These are full hook-up campsites. There is a $5.00 per day pet charge. (This is a per day, per site charge only, not per pet.) Sorry, Guests in tents and pop-up campers may not keep pets at their site - they must be kenneled.
As of January 2011 it was changed to:
    Pets
Pets like to go on vacation, too, so we offer a limited number of pet-friendly Preferred Hook-Up and Premium campsites. Pets are not permitted to stay in vehicles without air-conditioning or at tent sites.
As of June 2011 it states:
    Pets
Pets like to go on vacation, too, so we offer a limited number of pet-friendly Preferred Hook-Up and Premium campsites.
All pets must be kept on a handheld leash that is 6 feet or shorter or confined in the interior of the owner's personal recreational vehicle. For pop-ups and tents, pets must be secured in a container, such as a portable cage or kennel. Campsite Guests with pet privileges may take their dogs to play in the off-leash Waggin' Trails Dog Park or walk the many on-leash trails. So that our Guests with pets can enjoy ample time at the Walt Disney World theme parks and destinations, day and overnight kennel care is available at Best Friends Pet Care. Pet owners are required to pick up after and properly dispose of their pet's droppings. Pets that interfere with the quality of the Guest experience at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in any away (such as aggression, noise, etc.) or generate a legitimate complaint to management will result in the pet owner being required to discontinue the pet's inappropriate behavior, remove the pet to an off-site kennel or leave the Resort. TCD, as to your 1506 being a pet site - please refer back to the discussions "ad nausium" dealing with which cast-member you talk to....

I can agree with a lot of this!!  As for myself I camped at FW soon after it opened, around 1974 if I have my facts straight.  I think a lot of us notice the "blemishes" because we have been there through the years or just spend so much time there that little changes stand out.

To the average camper who may only go once or twice for the week long vacation they would not see what we are talking about most of the time.

A couple of things to add -

The tire weight rating is only valid if the tire is inflated to the max pressure marked on the side.  Less air pressure reduces the capacity of the tire due to flexing in the sidewall at lower pressures. So, fill the tires up to the max.

While talking about tires, I consider myself a little over the top when it comes to towing and equipment. Before every trip I torque the lug nuts, check air pressure in all tires and generally make sure everything is working. This has served me well all the years we had the pop up.

With the purchase of a 35' 6,000 pound (dry) trailer I took a friends suggestion and purchased a tire pressure monitoring system. After doing research and talking to people whose opinions I,trust I agreed that I needed one and settled on the PressurePro TPMS offered by http://www.tirepressuremonitor.com

So far it has saved me three times, twice on tires on the truck and once on a trailer tire.

The latest was the first time I towed our new Aliner.  I didn't get more than 10 miles up I-26 when the pressure alarm went off.  I was able to take the next exit and find a large paved area to stop in to investigate the alarm.  This time is was a nail in a trailer tire.  Rather than call AAA or Coach Net to change it I did it my self in about 15 minutes.  What the alarm di was allow me to work in a nice quiet are off the highway rather than trying to change a tire with trucks flying by me at 70 MPH.

They are expensive, but isn't your family's safety worth it?

Unless the stock market continues it's slide I'm afraid they can keep up what they are doing for a long time.  The products they are offering are selling at the prices they are setting..

When you make the jump to Universal understand you are not going to save a tank of gas.  Using Undercover Tourist pricing, 1 day one park tickets:
Magic Kingdom $115 Disney other parks $106 Universal $108 I admit I haven't been to Universal in a long time (I do love Margaritiville & Emeril's, but you don't need a ticket to get to them) but I did not find that their parks gave me more than a days entertainment.

People complain about Disney pricing, but in their defense they have a lot of lights to keep on.  You can spend a day just visiting Downtown Disney (oops, Disney Springs) or visiting hotels and get a lot of entertainment for little or no money.

In the pursuit of historical accuracy, the three stooges started out with Moe, Larry & Shemp.  Shemp quickly left to pursue a solo career and was replaced by his brother Curly.  When Curly died Shemp returned to the group.  All in all there were six "Three Stooges" ; Moe & Larry were there through all the years and the others were: Shemp, Curly, Joe and Curly Joe.

OK, I admit - I'm not a big college football fan, so I never thought I'd be posting here......

Now, living in the Columbia, SC area EVERYTHING is Gamecock garnet and black.  The wife is a football fan and it's too far a drive to get to her Bengals games, so we have taken in a few SC games.

Well, a close friend is from Texas and she is an A&M Aggie.  Having a family ranch in the area she invited us to spend a week and go see the SC/A&M game.

Let's just say I was a little apprehensive walking up to Kyle Field wearing Gamecock regalia.  You always read in the news about poor fans and how they treat the opposing team fans.

I was AMAZED!!  No other way to put it.  Outside the stadium, inside walking to our seats, heck even waiting in line for the men's room people kept walking up and welcoming us to College Station, thanking us for attending the game or just a quick handshake and thanks for coming.....

A&M should be proud of the demeanor of their students and fans!

I run them on both the trailer tires (unbalanced) and the truck, tires (balanced) and see no difference with or without them installed. They are the best camping accessory I have ever purchased. Three times now they have gone into alarm while towing and gave me sufficient time to find a safe place to stop and work on the tires. All three times I had picked up a nail causing a slow leak. Without the monitors I would not have noticed until the pressure got so low in that tire that I would have had a catastrophic failure.

On UT you usually have the choice of physical delivery of the tickets or "E" tickets.  I used E tickets for my last trip.  Within a few hours of purchase they e-mailed me a code I could enter into our "My Disney Experience" account and the tickets showed up and could be assigned to anyone in my group.Tats nice because once you have your reservation linked and your tickets linked as long as you are within the booking window you can start making FastPass+ reservations.

Well, this trip has been my first to check out these changes. For me, I really like what they have done. Yesterday I was able to move through the hub while a parade was going on. I was never able to do that before.
While a lot of grass, garden and tree area was lost, I think they have done a good job filling it back in, while leaving the viewing area open enough for their purpose during wishes. I also noticed them using the area in fron of Casey's yesterday for a character meet & greet (Mary Poppins). This new area gave them the space to pull those folks participating off the sidewalks, leaving it clear for people to move past without difficulty.
So far I give them an A.

yea, they make it happen. I researched this also, but found the stock 28 gallon tank works out very well when towing. With the 35 foot trailer I still need to stop regularly and hit the head or stretch my legs. I love my toys, but found I didn't need this one. Are you a Good Sams member? If so you can sign up,for a Flying J/Pilot RV card. It gives you 6 cents off the cash price at almost all Pilot/Flying J locations, but the biggest benefit is that it starts the pump at the truck islands without going inside and leaving a credit card. The only downside to the card is that it has to be tied to a bank account and paid each month via funds transfer. I just set it up tied to,an old credit union account I had and leave very little money in that account.

tim5055 got a reaction from Memphis in Where do you...store your camper?
Well, when we lived in Atlanta we found the mountains of western North Carolina and decided that would be our retirement home.  So, we found 3 acres with 450' on a native trout stream and built a home for our trailer.  This photo was taken during construction.  Now, 8 years later the grass is nice and green and I have added concrete walkways around the building and driveway in front.

The door is 15 feet wide and 14 feet tall with full clearance for the trailer the entire length of the barn.  I went ahead and built it 50 feed deep in case we decided to move up to a coach.  The road out front is two lane paved, but there is a ditch across the street - so it took a little practice backing the big trailer in.  Now, after a few times doing it it's easy peazy.  Last time I did it at 1AM with no spotter.  i just had to get out a couple of times to convince myself it was going in OK.

To the left of the door is an efficiency apartment with kitchen, shower and laundry facilities.

I have even added two campsites down by the creek with water and electric (20/30/50 amp).  My own little campground
