  1. Great trip report! Looking forward to your October TR, we go at the very end of October for an adults only trip, can't wait!
  2. We went through David's DVC rentals (dvc.request?) and it was perfect. He had our points rented out within a day or two of us listing them. We had rented them out on our own a few years ago and even though it went fine it was more of a worry. We had to draw up our own contract and there has to be a level of trust there between the owners and renters (who I had found online). I much prefer going through David's. I think we spoke about this before...you've rented through the same company?
  3. We have a couple of insulated backpacks that work well for us. One is filled with cold waters and juice pouches. Other one has PB & J sandwiches, trail mix, peanut butter crackers, grapes. My friend makes sandwiches with frozen waffles, fills them with cream cheese and jelly. But that got me thinking, why not bring Nutella and cut up bananas and strawberries and make your own waffle sandwiches, like they sell there?
  4. Going back to the original question, VB and HH are cheaper to buy but end up more expensive in paying out maintenance fees. For instance, currently VB is currently $7.7531 per vacation point, BLT is $4.7846 per point. So say you had 100 points, at VB it would cost you $775.31 per year vs. $478.46 at BLT. That difference can add up quickly. We bought resale, 200 points at VWL about 12 years ago. We have had great vacations in all kinds of accommodations, including grand villas (by banking and borrowing). Even though our resale points aren't restricted like current resale points, we haven
  5. Page one, hurray! This happens for me so rarely! Just went back to read the post, very sweet deal on the fastpasses!
  6. Did the boys like it at least? It's been a long time since we went over there but I remember there used to be a relatively quiet spot to have lunch that we liked.
  7. Great trip report. Wow, it seemed to go on forever! Really enjoyed the Key West portion, I agree that it seems like a great port to explore if you were cruising. I haven't seen any Harry Potter movies either. Nor did I read the books.
  8. I have to say this is one time I'm happy my girls are all teenagers. Frozen mania would have swept through our house and cost me a small fortune. Enjoying all the details, keep it coming!
  9. Yay, page 2! Can't wait to hear this adventure with 'the boyfriend.' I know it's in our inevitable future also but trying not to think about it!
  10. Okay, it's official. You have totally made me want to go there. I better start saving my points and my money!
  11. Thanks for the nice little report. It did sound tiring, but fun! Your grandchildren are beautiful!
  12. Thanks for the link to that thread, Kelly! I just spent my evening reading through it. We were away that weekend so I never saw it. I didn't log on until Monday, blissfully unaware of all the excitement I had missed.
  13. Well I must be totally out of the loop, this is the first I've read about Luke Bryan. So he performed at the Fort?
  14. Note to self: must go to La Cava in the fall on our adults only trip. Thank you for posting it, I never knew it existed but it looks great!
  15. You can but the points are high plus I think you have to pay a fee for non DVC resorts, something like $75. You're better off using points at a DVC resort. I just looked up the points for FW, the campsites aren't bad, the cabins are high. For instance we are going for two nights this January, staying in a studio at VWL. that will be 16 points per night. For those same two nights a preferred campsite would be 9 points a night, but a cabin would be 33 points per night. Actually, The campsites aren't as high as I thought they might be. Looks like the highest points are 17 per night, that's a
  16. Wow, what beautiful pictures! Have a safe flight home and looking forward to reading more.
  17. If you only bought 50 points and didn't go every year you could combine your points. So in other words you could bank points for a year (50), use your current year's points (50) and borrow against next years (50). So you could use 150 points. That would get you more than a couple of nights but of course it depends what size villa you want, what time of year, which resort, etc. You can rent points, I know of a lot of people who do that. We rented our points out this year and are using the money for a cruise. So our points are always used, either we use them or rent them. I will say I th
  18. My sister in law just made this for a family party and everyone asked for the recipe, it was fantastic. Buffalo Mac & Cheese 1 box cooked elbows 3 cups Mexican cheese (save a little to sprinkle on the top) 1 cup ranch dressing 1 cup Franks hot sauce (can do less or more, depending how hot you like it) 3 cooked chicken breasts, shredded Combine all ingredients then bake in 350 degree oven until hot and bubbly.
  19. Excellent trip report!! Loved reading about the cruise and that it all turned out well for you. Of course, loved the WDW portion and especially the big fat mistake! We kind of did the same thing to ourselves when we bought DVC. The kids got so used to staying in a 1 or 2 bedroom villa that when we would visit other places and stay in a regular hotel room they would complain! Thanks again for sharing your trip!
  20. Silence, a glass of wine and a good book. Awesome. Then throw in that it's at the Fort, priceless :)
  21. I liked your pictures, too. Some of those hotel ones looked like paintings to me. Your view from your balcony looks very similar to ours. We were on the third floor, 3023.
  22. The Yacht Club, what a great surprise for your girls!! So glad to see you had such a fun time. And I did not see the direction the big mistake was going. Yikes!
