  1. Anyone know of a service or co. in the Disney area that will move your trailer around for you when you can't? Or a qualified truck driver who might be able to do something like this?
  2. Yes - if you are really looking to spend time at the Fort, renting a tent or pup or whatever makes the most sense. I have stayed in other resorts when I had a good deal as a FL resident, and we were doing parks and were gone most of the day. Both times, we visited the Fort a couple of times for looping, the campfire, or sitting on the TE porch. Not the same as being a guest there, but there was no way I would be on WDW property without stopping in! Personally, the only way I would consider the tent option (for times when our camper isn't one), is during months when it cools off at night.
  3. For a couple nights at that rental rate, you could pick up a decent tent, plus tarps and other supplies, at WalMart. Then when the trip is over, donate the tent to charity and take the deduction. The rate for a site + rental tent + cots, if you choose them is about the same as a value resort. I'll take the All Star room with air, thank you very much!
  4. Anyone know what the current rate to rent a Disney tent is? Did it go up when they upgraded to newer equipment?
  5. The only time we have been we sat in the balcony. We could hear and see well and enjoyed the show. The cast did make it up there, but only once. However, that wasn't very important to us, so we didn't mind. It seemed like there was more space between tables up top and not as cramped. It was completely full, and Christmas time and we were not offered an upgrade. We did the early show. Ate a late breakfast, no lunch, then pigged out at the HDDR at 4 pm, looped for a bit afterward, then hit the movie and had popcorn and s'mores. It was just right, and kind of justified the cost since w
  6. I have seen way worse than this at the Fort! This thing has personality! I say fix it and have fun driving it. Does anyone remember the one many of us saw a couple of years ago that was towing the homemade trailer with a park bench bolted to it? I think I have a photo, will check and see…...
  7. HA! Nice try busman. Did you know that the word gullible isn't in any modern dictionaries? No joke! Look it up…..
  8. So are you saying we should all take the BUSES now?
  9. TCD the cool fact you posted about the area codes supports what many have told me about FL and its' population growth. As air conditioning became more commonplace and affordable, the state's population grew at a more rapid rate. My husband moved to FL in the mid-80's when he was a middle school student. The public library, his church and his school didn't have AC.
  10. Actually Dave, it was $26 in 1987, not 1997. Was your inflation calculation from the earlier year & '97 is just a typo? Still, the math doesn't justify today's gate price. And, I was with a group - not sure if we got a better price or not - the ticket doesn't indicate so, but they may not have had many different types of tickets then. I also loved the Kodak ad, that is why I included it. I remember those well into the '90's, after I moved to FL and started going to the parks more. I also remember learning my lesson about having extra rolls along with me after I had to buy one in the
  11. I did not catch that area code thing…..I wonder if that was an old one or if they had their own? I also do not recall "The Disney Inn"…I'm sure it has been discussed here before but I have not stumbled on that topic, yet. And, I cannot believe I was there when 20,000 leagues was open and I didn't go on it. I was there with a group of college students, we day tripped over on a bus from Daytona. We were so preoccupied with riding Space Mountain as many times as we could, we didn't do much else. Duh!
  12. Was going through some stuff in the basement and came across my ticket from spring break 1987, along with the brochure and times guide. Snapped some photos with my phone (apologize for poor quality), no time to scan, etc. I thought some of you might get a kick out of this, I did!
  13. That sounds very cool! Several of my FB friends posted photos over this past weekend of their cheerleaders competing at DWWoS. Must be the time of year for this sort of thing! I've only been there to see spring training games, but remember what an impressive place it is. Have a great time!
  14. Again, I am so glad no one was hurt or injured. I have since seen this video posted on a Fort FB page, so it is gaining in popularity! Would not be surprised if it winds up on the news! Thank you so much for keeping us up to the minute with the big news there. I also noticed the WDW van blocking the water supply. d'oh! And, the driver of that van casually getting out, taking a photo, and then walking back around the van, away from the fire, way before the fire fighters arrived. Speaking of the firefighters, I was a bit surprised at how long their arrival took. Did the guard not want
  15. Oh, man! Hope everyone is alright! I suppose it's better that it happened there rather than in one of the loops with all the trees (and campers!). Looks like it's sitting right about where the entry to the golf cart parking at the bus stop is? Where the horses cross for the trail rides?
  16. Yes, I know this…..now. At the time, I didn't know Jason and as a matter of fact, when I posted something here on FF about my frustrating experience a couple of years ago, he sent me a private message offering to help. He was very professional and never pushy - probably how I never knew he was a TA. But, by the time he offered I had already told our group it wasn't gonna work and we made plans to go elsewhere. I will absolutely call on him for any future needs in that regard, as well as my own personal travel when I can't do it on my own. After the alternate camping trip was complete, I
  17. Apparently, I did. I was dealing with the group reservations dept. and spoke with 2 or 3 different people. We were trying to get into a FHU loop rather than the group area because half of our pack used RV's when going to Disney. Even after I realized the people I was talking to didn't know anything about the Fort or what I needed and tried to go back to a CM on the regular reservations line, as soon as I said "group" they passed me off to the other dept. After about 6 weeks of frustrating phone calls, I gave up. It was truly infuriating, since I knew darn well there were that many sites
  18. This is hilarious. Now we just need a photo of a minivan towing a 30 foot trailer with 2 slides for perspective.
  19. I saw them there last year. Took the photo below on 2/18/13 somewhere on the back side of 1500 - TCD probably knows exactly which site this is because of the gate. We were on our way out, and drove by and I noticed the catering truck loading stuff up. Couldn't get a photo of it but took this one of one of the sites, which appears to be one of the "community" ones. By then the group was gone. It intrigued me because all I could think was, how were they able to do this when I tried unsuccessfully to book half a dozen Scout families on 1800 months earlier? Made me mad that some are allow
  20. A fort-only report? Giddyup! That is my kinda trip! And with adorable kiddos? Now it's getting even better. Your kids are so cute. I love to see photos of kids enjoying WDW……it's what it's all about! I am also floored by your travel times. I cannot do that anymore. I envy your stamina…..I gotta stop by at least the 7/8 hour mark. But our choice of recharging stations is the same…..we LOVE the Hampton Inn. Always, always stay there. Those beds are the bomb! Thank you for taking us along!
  21. I am sure they came out with a Disney themed one at some point…..sometimes they re-name them, it might be under "Disneyopoly"? And, you can check thrift stores for old games to pick up the tokens, if the kit doesn't come with them. I don't think I've ever heard of game kits. Probably best:) I have a tote full of kits I will likely not live long enough to complete, along with my mountain of scrapbook supplies and bins of fabric and patterns! The best laid plans, right?
  22. Your son is just. so. darn. cute. MK still pretty crowded for a rainy day…..we went on a rainy day last June and rode space, splash, & thunder 4x each……before 10 am! (emh) It was non-stop rain, though, and not the most pleasant day. But our passes were expiring, so we had to do it. I have to thank you for the tip on the medical website! Very good info to have if you're in a jam! Or not wanting to drive out in an ice storm in PA! Speaking of driving…..you guys are very brave, and very dedicated to have ventured out into that nightmare of a traffic jam that was Atlanta last week!
