  1. What a great tip! Just had a splinter issue last week, wish I'd have thought of the tape.
  2. Ed: I apologize for the hijack and changing subjects here. Look forward to the next installment of the races. As a total Philly noob, I am quite curious as to what all of the negative remarks about my new city are about. I really like it here, but if I am missing something (that has nothing to do with sports teams or odd odors), I want to know. For information's sake, not to engage in any sort of debate. I grew up in rural NY state and spent the majority of my adult life thus far in Florida. Philly isn't yet like home for me, but I was going to try and become more acclimated at least
  3. Yes. Spent a lot of time in the city this past August right after we moved up here. Other than down by Penn's Landing, don't recall any foul aromas in the air, and even that was just typical marina gunk smell. Or is that some kind of sports jab I am not getting? Perhaps my olfactory senses are immune after living in Jacksonville for so long. And spending a great deal of time in southeast GA near all of those paper mills.
  4. Try to catch fireworks at the beach, the EWP, and the sing-a-long one or two nights. You don't have to stay and watch the movie, but the cowboy's corny jokes are fun the first time. Bring your own marshmallows unless you don't mind paying twelve dollars for a s'more. If it's too chilly for the water parks, rent a canoe at the fort and paddle around the green slime canals. And, be sure to get some porch time in. At the Meadows Trading Post, Trail's End, or both.
  5. Why do you not like Philadelphia? Congratulations Ed. Again you are an inspiration to anyone who thinks they can't do something.
  6. Is on the DEST channel right now. Saturday 1/18, 8pm……...
  7. First, I have to say I find the title of this TR somewhat comical……."running fun"??? To many, those words just don't go together! I dabble, and enjoy it, but wouldn't categorize it as fun. OK, perhaps running through Disney parks could be kind of fun. I get the RunDisney updates on my FB page and have to admit, it does look fun and is something I would probably do if I could get down there. Seriously, though, I stand in awe of you and Ed. It is one thing to complete one race! And, from reading this I see you have inspired at least one other person to improve their well-being. Bravo, g
  8. I hope to see the movie soon, too. I don't care if Josh is a nerd. I like nerds. And I will check out his blog. Anything with good Disney info that is easy to navigate is for me! MD appears to have answered the ringing in his ears, indicating y'all were talking about him, and has piped up! Good job getting him to post! I can't believe you didn't notice the glow on 1605 emanating from our shiny new camper! Hahaha. Kidding. We were just down the road from these people. I enjoyed their site, as well as the one on the opposite side that was heavily decorated. I really appreciate
  9. I agree with what everyone else has already said. Except, I didn't grow up camping. But, I grew up in a rural area, playing outside in the woods, streams and fields, so it wasn't that much of a leap. My husband's family had a little TT they kept at a CG in the Poconos and they went to it every weekend in the summer, so he was all about it. We didn't get into camping until our kids were 6 and 4. Tented for a couple of years, then pop-up for a couple of years, now on our second TT 7 years later. But, if we had discovered it before then, I'd have done it even when they were still in diaper
  10. I stand corrected. But, there are some T's and possibly some other merch. with the Element brand name on them in the TPs. Who is Josh? The dude who got booted out of the MK for posting illegally obtained footage?
  11. I know the shirts (there are others in the Settlement TP by the same maker) are made by a company called Element. I recognized it because my boys are into skateboarding and they make a lot of skate/surf related stuff. I guess maybe they're some kind of outdoor equipment co.? And struck some kind of deal w/ Disney? I am sure they're terribly overpriced. I can get Element, Hurley & Quiksilver stuff at TJMaxx for my boys for around 8-10 bucks.
  12. Happy to have hopped in here and not be too far behind! So woefully behind in reading TR's. As in, months worth. Gives me something to do on these cold days here in the frozen Northeast. Looking forward to hearing more, that is if you survive this weekend ;0
  13. I saw that. Unfortunately we cannot make it. That is my kids' spring break and we already had plans. As it is, the district has shortened it by a day because of the snow days they've had. If anything changes, I will be there if I can! North Beach is a bit more but has better amenities than the state park and it is actually easier to get to the beach than Anastasia. Both CG's have the dirt/sand issue. Anastasia books up fast so if that is your choice, better get a reservation. All excellent suggestions! I would add: The Cathedral Basilica and the Alligator Farm. Kids can do a zi
  14. Hi Rennie, Until this past summer, I lived about 20 min. from St. Augustine and have stayed at several of the campgrounds there in recent years. My mom still lives there and takes her RV out to local campgrounds from time to time. Anastasia is beautiful. Right next to the beach and many of the attractions in St. Aug. Can't beat the location. But, it is a state park and only a few of the sites have sewer. Also, unless you get in the Coquina loop, the canopy is low in most of the other RV sites and can be an issue for larger units. Our friend has a 5th wheel similar in size to yours
  15. Cool tips and train photos! I have always wondered about the auto train. After our last N/S round trip, we may just look into this. Between gas, a hotel for a night, and food, I think it has to be close. Any overage is MOST definitely worth not having to deal with the traffic, aggressive drivers, construction and weather. Your daughter must have slept pretty good that night! Her face is making me tired!
  16. The small car your daughters designed on TT reminds me a little of Venelope's in Wreck it Ralph. Holy crowds! I guess at least they weren't sloppy drunk like the ones @ Epcot were last year? Some of those guests taking naps in the Epcot building look like they're planking. And that young ladies' undergarments are sticking out. Sometimes these girls who wear the low-rise skinny jeans with their thong sticking out is almost as bad as the pants-on-the-ground look some boys like to sport. Almost. Should have gone for the snickerdoodle. If they're the same ones they served at the last MV
  17. That is good to know……always avoided this loop due to it's proximity to the movie theater. If you rely on the comfort stations a lot, it might not be a good choice since every night it is crowded with movie guests. Though, I have to say, when I go in there (and I almost always do at least once each trip to rinse off sticky marshmallow), the staff stays on top of keeping it clean and well-stocked with paper towels for the added volume.
  18. Me too! Not to mention having to interrupt valuable relaxation time to go shopping. I do the exact same thing, except for the pants. Everyone has a sweatshirt or fleece in the camper, always. And I keep several of those roll-up fleece blankets for sitting outside after dark. At the fort, they are also great for the golf cart.
  19. We were there in Feb. of last year, just checked our photos from that trip to see what we were wearing. Looks like it was chilly, I had on jeans, long sleeved shirt, and fleece when we were outdoors. In one photo we are at DHS and it is a beautiful sunny day, but I still had my fleece layer on. And I am usually too hot (aren't hormones the best?). Layers would be my vote, too. Check the weather a week out, pack accordingly, keep checking it closer to departure, and adjust as necessary.
  20. My son and I were looping and had to stop for several minutes in front of 114 to allow a MH to back in across the way. The gentleman guest from the party staying on 114 walked over to assist the driver of the MH, and his wife walked out into the road and was talking to another guest from the loop. I overheard her say they were from LA and are friends of Judy's. But didn't meet them personally or get a name. From what I could tell it looked like a family of 4. They checked out the same day I did, though, we looped by late morning and they were gone.
  21. Maybe they're going to install tracks in the canal and resurrect the 20,000 leagues ride. Then they'll put the old skyway ride over it for the return to the fancy new hotel. Of course, they'll build some fancy faux walls along the banks so the hoity-toity hotel guests don't have to see us filthy campers.
  22. Yes….and be careful not to over-crank it when lifting the roof. That is what they said we did to cause it.
  23. Excellent advice. Thank you for sharing your experience. I will be looking into getting one of these.
  24. Thank you so much for digging that video out. Really. That was something. What was that term you and Devores taught me a while back? Moose knuckle? Oy. Yep, that tent way off the site on 500 got my attention too. Not only did they have the tent there, earlier in their stay they had a little fire pit set up also. That went bye-bye, though. So apparently, some rules are being enforced. Hey, we'll let you bend this rule, but not that one……rule d'jour, anyone? They weren't subtle about their stake on that loop, either. Had lights strung from the camper on back to the tent at night.
