  1. Add me to your list Jason! As you know I am sandwiched between his showings……blast it!
  2. Wow! This is one of the reasons I am so glad I found you people. I would like to thank (in no particular order): Bill, for bringing this to our attention and sharing those alarming photos that hopefully will prevent many of us from a similar experience. Mo, for the questions she posted…..which would have been similar to my own…..saved me tons of time and googling. Beckers, for bumping this thread. Nacole, for the link to the deal at CW. Everyone who contributed to this thread with helpful info, relatable experience, etc…. And finally, Todd, for posting a link to this article on
  3. Congrats Gwen! That photo is amazing. May I steal borrow a copy? Cyndee
  4. I mean, this kids gets it. He is so chill. He blew the cute meter up long ago, but this - this is just. too. much.
  5. Agree with XBoater. By the time we hit Orlando, we just want to get to the Fort, get a good site and get set up. Then venture out to the Walmart or Winn Dixie out the back way. Sometimes I would stop at the Walmart on the Ormond Beach exit off of 95 - easy on and off the interstate and only an hour or so out depending on traffic. That only works if you're loading food right into the fridge/cooler/freezer, though.
  6. Short and sweet! This I can do! Feeling so overwhelmed by how far behind I am on TR's these past few months, yours gives me a sense of accomplishment - I read the whole thing! The hubs looks so comfy in that chair. I long for that kind of relaxation! Cute kiddos! Go GATORS!!!
  7. So did you stop at the Cat's Meow before or after the moonshine consumption? hehehe Why are Rick and Richie wearing ponchos at the distillery? Is there a whiskey barrel ride similar to SM? Only you get sprayed with whiskey at the end? All kidding aside, this looks like yet another great gathering of fun people. And what a beautiful campground!
  8. FWG isn't chiming in to tell us what the real plans are so I had to go with something.
  9. I hope so. And that someone else's theory of them closing the full hook ups due to visibility from the hoity toity upper floors is also wrong. Funny, we have stayed at OKW and SOG, but not many others. OKW was a promotion 5 or so years back, and SOG was as a guest of my BIL who is military.
  10. Wow, those are some elaborate slides. A regular guest? Are you entering a contest for free stays or giving up some regular WDW trips to do it? Because you could stay at the Fort many times over for what one weekend will run at this place! I am not sure I'd spring for those rates even if we could afford them. I think I'd rather try one of the WDW resorts we've never stayed at. Another thing I was thinking after reading the comments about how they don't want to be overly Disney themed or otherwise connected to it….I suppose that eliminates any speculation about water transportation to
  11. Of course the baby steals the show in this TR, followed by your adorable wife……oh and then there's that beautiful new rig! We got a Cougar XLite 32RBK TT last Dec. Unfortunately we only got to use it once and had to leave it down in FL where we bought it since there was a bad snowstorm the weekend we had to drive home, we had no place to store it here in PA, and we'd never winterized a camper since we'd lived in FL all of the years we've been RV owners before buying this one. But, we are in the process of making our plans to go back down and retrieve it and I can't WAIT! It is so pretty
  12. Chariots of Fire playing in the background…….oh man if I had any animation skills and a few hours to kill I'd be all over making a video of this!
  13. TCD you know you're gonna go bounding down the banks of the canal from the Fort, with your inner tube around your waist, nose plugs dangling from your neck, clutching last year's mug expecting to float along that river and have as many Diet Cokes as you please! Your description of a "real" security guard made me laugh. I always call those guys "Wackenhut cops". But only the ones who take their jobs a bit too seriously. You know, the ones on a total power trip because they have a shiny badge. I like the retired guys who want to chat right after you woke them up from their afternoon siesta
  14. Enjoyed the report. Looks like all had a great time and ate well. As it should be at a GG! Here is another Hershey street light photo for Sil. Took it last fall when we were there for the RV show. There are both types in this shot.
  15. I am trying to lose weight and am dying reading this TR full of photos of mouth watering food! Rebekah your children are adorable. It looks like this was a great weekend, anticipating the rest of the story from other fiends. I cannot believe the tag fairy hasn't grabbed on to the torpedo meat comments yet.
  16. Are you asking for a chunk of the old ticket window, or begging for a new tag here?
  17. I would not worry at this point either. I concur with the others that a TA specializing in Disney vacations will be your best bet. However, I have been in this very situation in the past. Another thing you can do is book the extra night(s) you need with whatever site type is available, even if it's not the kind you need. Then, as the date gets closer, you can periodically check if you can switch it to all nights in the site type you need. Worst case, you may have to wait until you are checked in, then go up front and see if they can keep you in the same site for your entire stay. Chance
  18. If you have any Dimensions "Gold Collection", or anything Elsa Williams……..they seem to fetch higher bids. I'd be in BIG trouble if I worked at a craft store!
  19. Loretta…how goes the progress on the Monopoly kit? I put the mini Disney kits aside this winter and worked on a larger kit I'd been chipping away at for, oh about 15 years! Still nowhere near done! But - I did go through that tote of kits I mentioned - seriously it was a 30 gal. tote nearly full of them - and pulled out some that I knew I'd never do. On a whim, decided to see how they do on ebay, and was pleasantly surprised to see that some are very popular! I got almost 30 bucks for one that is no longer made, and it had been given to me years ago, so that was total profit! And they
  20. I LOVE this idea! Might be a great thing to sell at RV shows, too!
  21. Todd, you are too kind. But I really don't want someone who is on vacation to spend any of that precious time on this. I want to find a service, also so I can use them in the future if needed. FYI: Dave (Grumpy) - you were right, Ed had used just such a service. But, he had a bad experience with them and couldn't give them a good recommendation. So, I need to keep looking to see if there might be another with better customer care.
  22. Exactly. It just depends on the month as far as the AC, then there is the precipitation to consider. That is a good point, though I have never minded the comfort stations at the Fort. We did years of tenting and pop-up before getting a rig with a full bath, and the Fort's bathrooms make some campground bathrooms look like outhouses. Yes - though I use a cot when tenting, I do like being able to lay around watching the tube before turning in. I feel the same way. I have had a couple of times when I could only be there for a night and pitched a tent to lay our heads then pa
  23. Another good idea. I want to pay for the service, not ask a favor I cannot repay. I don't know if their insurance would cover that sort of thing, but I could def. ask.
  24. Rennie…thank you for considering that! I keep meaning to take a picture of the house you told me about…will try to remember to soon. I am pretty sure it is right behind the one we are renting. Grumpy I will do that. thanks for that tip.
