My gut feeling on this is that they were stopped and informed of the problem and the mom got mouthy so things escalated.   Hopefully at the very least she learned a lesson and won't let the kid drive the cart again.

There are some sites in 1100 that back up to cabins in 2100, so each of you request those respective loops, and have your reservations "linked" as "travel with"

I agree very ugly and a major fail for Disney themeing you would think that they could have come up with a more Fort themed way of doing it. Lines of horseshoes, animal tracks, something. All it would take is a stencil and a sign at the beginning of each loop explaining what they are or or CM at check in explaining. I'm hoping if they add them to other loops they put some more thought into it.

When we first moved to FL, I was one of the maintenance men at an apartment complex.

We were probably the only complex that didn't have golf carts for us to get around in.

Yup, they gave us the granny trikes to haul our tools and supplies around in.

I went from 150 pounds down to 125, a 32 waist to 27/28 riding around in the FL heat!

    Never felt better.

pixiesteno reacted to Wilderness Camper in Fort Wilderness Maps Placemats
I wanted some place mats for our trailer so I decided to make some.  We had some Fort Wilderness maps from one of our trips, so I decided I wanted to make place mats out of them.  I took about 4 or 5 of the maps to Staples and had them laminated with about an inch all around then voila "place mats.

There is a back way but I am not really sure how to get to it from a main road that isn't marked with all sorts of signs.
A warning though, if this is your first camping trip, you may not want to go anywhere else. The fort rocks.

If someone gets hurt it isn't Disney that should be sued. Where are the idiots who gave birth to those children? I'm pretty sure they signed the rental agreement, not the kids.

We're hitting the road today from AZ to the Fort.  Had a major breakdown during our Christmas 2013 trip so I'm a bit nervous.  Prayers, luck wishing, etc. will be greatly appreciated.

I've been quiet, but I have to point out that alliegant flies out of knoxville to Sanford nonstop for $191 round trip - so less than 400 for two and apply the extra $$ to said preferred site ?
Lurkers - I know you are lurking and I want to point out that the folks on this site merely want your friendship or fiendship as it were. Meaning if you spend any time on this board, you'd know that TCD sounds like he always does - his TR's are a whimsical cornucopia of blunt observation and tongue in cheek. Friendship means you share- your pictures, stories, and you take the time to get to know the folks here. Go back and read the origins of this board. You will not find a nicer bunch of folks. But they will be quick to call BS - as friends do for each other.
I've learned rhino faces, not to hate the Gators quite as much, can't wait for an Anna hug someday, and actually want to put faces and people for names. You have to share...not take.
And as my daddy always said... You get more bees with honey than vinegar....

I've started going IN to gas stations, purchasing a soda and having them run my card for the gas inside, then pump, then go back in for a revised receipt. It takes a bit longer, but would rather that, then get skimmed. Also, even though I call my credit card when traveling, was getting "go inside" on the third fillup just about every time, so annoying.

This one is directed at me, right?

This only reaffirms what I said earlier- something ain't right here.

There are no rude, inflammatory, accusatory or condescending posts on this thread.  And your reaction is out of all proportion to anything that was said to you.

This message board has been around for four years now.  It's a fun place for people to come and discuss Fort Wilderness, camping, Disney and fun.  Nobody bullies anyone around here.  There is no drama here.  I have yet to see a spew.

As I said already, I truly hope that you are able to work out your reservation fiasco and that you have a great trip to Disney World.

    I'm confused.

Good, but, then who was this comment directed at?

I am glad to hear that you weren't referring to my post as sarcastic, because it wasn't.  I've re-read this thread from the beginning, and I still don't see any sarcastic posts.  I know that I didn't send you any PM's, and based on what I've seen on this thread, I'll bet that just like there were no sarcastic posts, there were no negative PM's either.

I said something ain't right because, with all due respect, your story doesn't add up.

In case it disappears, this was your very first post here on ff.net, which started this thread:

After a couple of helpful suggestions that you check with a travel agent you said:

I thought that didn't sound right, so when I got a moment I checked, and sure enough, there are campsites available for the dates you want. I took a screen shot of one offer I saw, and posted it to show that there is availability.  Any travel agent who has experience with Disney (and most of the members of the forum) know how whacky the Disney reservation system is and would have been able to assure you that it is very likely that you will be able to get a campsite for the dates you're looking for.

My comments about something not being right were to point out that there is more going on here than your initial post stated. That's a huge red flag. You are asking for someone to add you to their reservation and let you stay at their campsite. If you aren't being honest about the circumstances that led to you making the request, what else about your story isn't true?  You may be a wonderful person, and all of this may be a big misunderstanding, but I think anyone would be foolish to add a complete stranger to a WDW resort reservation, and allow her (or him?) to camp with them, especially when there's something fishy about the story.

Well good, you got no drama.

And I think we're done here.

I hope that you're able to get your campsite and that you have a nice trip.

there was absolutely no drama on this thread. TCD was merely pointing out that if you keep searching for dates that are longer than the dates you actually want, you should be able to find a campsite for your dates. Once you or your travel agent actually book the reservation, then call back and cancel the extra days.

pixiesteno reacted to kadancer in Children with autism
My youngest son is on the severe end of the autism spectrum and although he has received service since very young and is a student in a Kennedy Krieger school he is is still non-verbal.  As Autism Awareness month draws to a close I find myself reflecting on my relationship with Benjamin. He is at times a terror and at times an angel. He exhausts me and fills me with energy all in the same one hour period. I would so love to know what he is thinking. When he bangs his head he breaks my heart and when he giggles he melts it. He fills me with pain and agony, joy and hope, confusion and clarity. How can one small human being control a life so fully? And then I think - the answer is simple, in this one truly magnificent way he is just like any other child of any other parent. All of them bring us hurt and pleasure, joy and sadness, fear and hope and we are all LUCKY to share their lives with them. So, when you think of me and my Benjamin don't ever feel pity or sadness for me because my life with him and all of the mystery it involves is priceless.

I had a pop up for a short time and about 2 am this guy shows up in the 2000 loop with his lights coming in my camper and beating stakes in the ground. Mind you there was only like 6 sites taken in the whole loop and they put him next to me. It was one of those low 30s nights so when I awoke at sunrise to break down and head home I cranked up my diesel to warm her up for about 30 minutes while I'm folding the pop up in a slow manner. I looked over a couple times to see the guy looking out his tent like are you just going to leave that truck running? Why yes, yes I am going to. I even decided to drive through the loop one more time for good measure.
