  1. Thanks everyone for your responses. It does get more and more expensive to stay at the Fort. But we love it so will keep saving and praying we make it another year.
  2. Does anyone know if there is any kind of a discount given to folks who stay for several months at a time at the Fort? Or who even stay for a year? I am sure there isn't but I am asking just in case. I know some people stay for a exrended times so I am just curious. Thanks everyone.
  3. This past week the CM stores had some great items. Especially if you are into Christmas. They had large thick green boughs all decorated with the larger balls, etc. selling for $10 and $15. I now wish I had bought some. They had a lot of dishes, different patterns, lots and lots of flatwear, etc. I saw several ladies with baskets filled with the green decorations. There were a lot of Christmas Tree balls & various seasonal items. I saw one man having a ball with the carpets....I think I heard him say he wanted to buy both that he was looking at. They did look good. I got some ou
  4. Everyone is wrong.....the cart would be perfect in Crimson and White......looking good. You did a great job.
  5. This computer has not been cooperative this trip. We are in Site 403 and have been since Saturday. We have seen Dave D. and Lou but no other fiends. We will leave on the 13th. I hate leaving but until one of us goes to work here or wins the lottery we have to leave at some point.
  6. I love cobbler but blackberry is my favorite with peach coming in a close second.
  7. We will be checking in Saturday sometime. Leaving tomorrow and will stop in Lake City for the night and then on to Disney on Saturday morning. We will try to get our site number posted late on Saturday. We will be there with Shawnee (16), Kimberly (15), Brad (11 months), all in their wheel chairs, J.J. (7 weeks) and a former foster child Ashley (10). Some of you have met Ashlery. I know we are crazy traveling with all these little ones but we would not have it any other way. See you soon.....fiends. Judy, Ken (retired and happy) and the gang of sweet Angels. :mh1: :fa
  8. I would love to get one for our Kimberly (15) and in a wheel chair. Those are just toooooo adorable.
  9. I have to brag a little again. Friday they held Special Olympics Events and Shawnee won 1st place in the wheel chair races. Way to go Shawnee. In the past he has won on occasion but he usually got a late start as he does not like the whistle and he would put his hands over his ears. Then he would take off...sometimes managing to win but usually in 2nd. Maybe he has now realized the whistle is only for a second so get ready to move. Or they may have had cupcakes at the finish line. :jumpforjoy We are so proud of our 21 ounce, 23 week micro preemie. Now about 170 lbs. and recently w
  10. I also got a big bag of Broccoli for $4 and it was fresh and delicious. Got some t-shirts for about 1/3 the price in the parks. Got some neat wire mickey head shaped baskets which I LOVE. And several other things. Loved shopping there. :jumpforjoy
  11. Please tell me the crowds won't be this bad when we are there April 6-13........ :banghead:
  12. Lou, ole buddy, dear friend, etc, etc....yes I am buttering you up. Will we be able to make another trip to the CM stores while we are there? Thanks. See you soon. :partythree:  :mh1: :fairydust: :purpleflam: :rollercoaster:
  13. Well said Lou......uh oh, here I go again agreeing with Lou. This is getting scary!!! :jumpforjoy Despite all the complaints about the Fort Management, we have found them to be very helpful and friendly and sometimes going out of their way to help us. We have asked for different site when checking in and had no problem. A couple of year ago we went to the site they assigned us and our RV and trailer would not fit so I called the front desk...they sent us to check out another....still would not work....so the nice young man told me to check out all the sites and he would see about getting
  14. Now I have to brag on Shawnee (16). He brought his report card home and he also made the A B honor roll. He almost made the solid A honor roll. They also get reports on all the special things they are tested on....like being able to answer the "W" questions. Both he and Kimberly brought up their % at least 5 points. They will make their teacher's goal at this rate before next Fall. We are so proud of our "teen agers". And they can't wait for the trip to Disney. Arriving on the 6th. Shawnee keeps saying he needs to see Mr. Lou. He has already helped us make a list of the food he pl
  15. If you buy the ones in the can or in the bags at Wal Mart they might seem slimy but if you wash them off and drain them good they won't be. I don't mind the residue left on them when I drain them. They are sooooooo good. :raspberry:
  16. Welcome to this crazy group. :welcome: :mh1: :welcrowd: And good luck on finding the perfect RV for your family.
  17. Maybe things will be a little slower when we arrive on the 6th.
  18. I saw several cabins when we were there in December with wheel chair ramps.
  19. We are so sorry for your loss. Heaven's gain is our loss. May he RIP with our Lord forever and ever. :pope:
  20. We were there in 1977 ( our first trip) and our children were 5, 7, 9 & 10. We stayed in the Contemporary Tower. Went back in 1978 and again stayed in the Contemporary Tower. Loved it. I admit I would love to stay there again sometime but I am sure I will never be able to afford it. I am happy in my old RV in the campground. That's where all the great people are.
  21. My maternal grandfather was a very small man (even though he weighed 15 lbs. at birth) and he was always making us laugh. One morning while visitng with us he told my mom and me that while he was asleep on the sofa the night before he heard some one talking. He said he glanced around and saw that it was two big mosquitos and one said to the other "Shall we eat him here or take him with us?" I will never forget him saying that and how hard he laughed. Miss that little old man. He was born on the 4th of July and died on Memorial Day. Fitting for him. Perhaps his mosquitos are family mem
  22. Yep, to me they are better than the Doyle Whips.....Yes I know I am crazy but someone has to be. Seriously the Doyle Whips are just too sweet for me. Love me some boiled peanuts.
  23. Talk about prices.....I just checked the Disney website and I could not believe the room rates for most of the hotels now. Anywhere from $400 to over $1100 per night. There are a couple of exceptions in the $100+ range but who can afford a week at over $1100 per night? Crazy!!!!! :dropjaw:
