  1. I guess Disney folks think people would rather stay in the DVC Hotel than the cabins. If I wanted to stay in a Hotel I would stay in the Polynesean (sp?) or the contemporary (I have stayed in the Cont. 2 times in the 70's.) and if I did not have an RV and wanted to stay at the Fort I would rent a cabin. No matter what time of the year we are there a lot of the cabins are empty. Seems to me, and I readily admit I am not an expert (only Lou is), that I will the empty spaces, cabins, hotels before adding more. But that is just my humble opinion. :doublebeer:
  2. Welcome to this site of crazy but loving, caring folks. Someone here usually has an answer to any question you might have and if they don't they will make up one. :jumpforjoy We spend 3 to 4 weeks at the Fort in December-January and usually another week for Spring Break. Christmas is my favorite time to be there.....I love decorating the site with all the Disney Blow Ups (Don't ask Lou about them) and looking at all the other ones. You will "love" living at the Fort and you may never want to leave. Oh, we foster and adopt infants/children with special medical needs. We have adopted 5
  3. We have Good Sam also. We have needed their services several times and they always come through. The Discounts are nice too. We also belong to the KOA club since we do camp at KOA's from time to time. :mh1: :camp1:
  4. I love Country Bear Jamboree....... :heartsmiley:
  5. This is so sad. I have said prayers for the victim and those injured and their families. Does anyone know what actually caused the crash? Who was at fault? May God Bless them all.
  6. As DH wrote above, all sites at Disney are wonderful. He forgot we did stay in the 1400 one time years ago. We go every year for a month in dec./Jan. and sometime for a week later. We spent our Spring Break there this past April. We check in Dec. 8 and we are scheduled to leave on January 4th. so we will just miss you. Would love to meet you all. I am not too particular as to the site but we do have to be near the comfort station/laundry as we have children in wheel chairs who are teenagers (15 & 17) and still in diapers and always will be. We most often travel with 1 or 2 foster c
  7. I planted a couple of small bamboo plants a few years back. Thought I had the kind that did not spread.....NOT! I now have bamboo almost as tall as the house in one area of the yard......which I actually love (Ken hates it) but it is now spreading all over the back yard. Not good. Don't plant bamboo unless you want it to cover your entire property and everyone else's. It is almost as bad as Kudzu. :panic:
  8. Congratulations on your new "ride to the fort". It is beautiful. So happy for all of you. :mh1:
  9. Aaron it says you have joined the right group for sure. Bless your heart. :rofl2:
  10. I want one of Buddy's sisters........that is what we need to train to be Kimberly's service dog. They can be trained to detect her sleep apnea and seizures. I can just see the 2 of them together now. And no matter what you say Lou, you are talented and do have a "pretty" face. :hugsmiley:
  11. We all know that not every Disney driver is as competent as Lou. No matter what he tells you. :jumpforjoy Shawnee says he is the best at everything Disney. And believe me Shawnee knows all there is to know, or that is important, about Disney. He is already discussing his December trip there.
  12. You do not know this but all my life I have wanted one of the carousel horses. I saw one in Mobile at one time but they would not sell it. It was almost full size. One like yours would be one of my dreams coming true. And I know just where I would put it. Did not realize how talented you are. Keep up the good work. Shawnee says hi to Mr. Lou.
  13. Congratulations on your expected arrival. Sounds like he will be a Christmas baby. Babies are such fun. Enjoy the pregnancy and all that it brings with it. This is a very special time for all of you. The years ahead will pass much too quickly so enjoy each and every minute with your little one. God Bless You All. :heartsmiley:
  14. This has always been one of my all time favorites....along with homemade coconut cake. I may just try this one day in my "spare" time.
  15. I can not even imagine spending so much money as we would for the DVC......I love being at the Fort and if we did decide to stay in one of the other resorts for a few days (which I seriously doubt) I would just pay the regular price. Everyone to his own taste however. :jumpforjoy
  16. Our 15 year old granddaughter has been camping with us for years and one of her favorite things to do is: Go hunting for lightening bugs. She makes a "home" for them out of a paper cup with foil on the top & holes in the top. She still enjoys that even at this age. We love watching her and the other grandkids and friends who may be traveling with us.
  17. Yes, Jennifer 41, we will be there THIS December. Looking forward to meeting you. Once we are there we will post our site number on this board. Have a great week. Judy, Ken and the 4 little Angels (Our two foster Angels will probably be gone to their new homes by then but there will probably be 1 or 2 more ready to take their place). :wheelchair: :wheelchair: :angel2-smiley:
  18. We are President's Club Members and yet I have always paid for our Good Sam Membership. It has been worth it, however, as they have come to our rescue many times. On the last trip to Tn. in July we had a tire seperate on our trailer. The cost for someone to come out to where we were, take the tire off, replace it, etc. was over $400. However the lady searched and found a man who came out, took the bad tire off and the wheel and took them with him and came back with a brand new tire mounted and put it on the trailer for $100 Cash. Super deal.
  19. Yep...if you have a premium you won't have room enough for tent as there is little if any sand. A full hook up should do the trick. We have had our 37" RV with 1 slide out and an awning that also serves as a privacy room with no problem and there was sand.
  20. That's a good one Lou....you better watch out or you will be getting those up arrows that you hate...... :jumpforjoy
  21. We enjoy the Backyard Bar B Que and the HDDR very much. Both are costly but our children love both of them. Shawnee, of course, loves the baked beans and bread. Kimberly just loves all the music and laughing. Last Spring when we went we took one of our former foster children (who now calls us Nana and Pop Paw) who was 10. She loved the HDDR better than anything she said. She ate good and she had a ball. Not sure how a 2 year old would react to it but everytime we have gone we have never seen a child that didn't seem to be enjoy it all. In fact our then 2 month old slept through the ent
  22. O.K. I am so confused now that I have no idea what is going on....I know I am tired for lack of sleep and working with the old RV today (I did very little as Melissa and Carol did all the hard work) but someone needs to expalin all this to me in the way you to a 1st grader....o.k. maybe a 4 year old. I don't understand what the RFID tickets are or any of the other things being discussed. Help this old lady please.........
  23. We have an adult size car seat for Kimberly (and have one that Kenya used before she passed away in 2011). It uses a seat belt that is mounted behind the seat (I have forgotten what that is called right now). The babies use their regular car seats, usually facing the back of the sofa seat because the seat belts do not work on their car seats if they are facing forward. After reading all the information posted on the site Loretta listed, it appears children would not have to be in a car seat unless they are in the front seat....car, van, bus or RV. We often have a child/ren who are 3 or 4
  24. At one time you could get Disney Gift Cards with your points on the Doscover Card, Visa Cards and others. I have enough points now to get 2 or 3 but they have discontinued the Disney cards. So I am continuing to collect my points until they offer Disney again. If not, I will use them for other things. Our Kroger does not offer Disney cards often but they have 100+ others. I sometimes buy the gift cards as gifts or for my own use just to get the 5X points at Kroger. This helps build up my Kroger gas points. In May and June we had $1000+ so we got $1 off each gallon of gas up the 35 gall
  25. For those who really want to know the S stands for sweetie. But you all know Lou would never want that spread around. He would lose his snarky reputation. :hugs2:
