  1. Okay, I know I said I wouldn't do another trip report. But this trip was only four days long, so I'm gonna give it a try. Many of you know that we had reservations to be at the Fort from November 5 to December 5. But my mother got suddenly sick (doctors didn't think she would survive). She made a miraculous recovery that the hospital staff talked about for days. She was then sent to a skilled nursing facility for three weeks of physical and occupational therapy. Eventually she went home on November 2. By that point we had cancelled our first week of reservations. Even though her th

  3. We are more than disappointed. We are devastated. This was to be our first month-long trip. We've waited 13 months for it. Now it appears that we'll have to wait at least another 12 months. We are part of the "sandwich generation." And it's no fun. But life could be worse.
  4. Mitzi, we currently have reservations for November 5 - December 5 on a premium site. We are about 99% sure we'll have to cancel the first week. And about 90% sure we will have to cancel the entire trip.
  5. LOL ... try feeding these guys: Left -- Caden, 11 years old, not sure of his height but I'm 5'6" and he's nearly as tall as me. Serious athlete (currently being recruited by Adidas, wants to be better than Gabe), and he eats nonstop. Center -- Gabe, 18, 6'9", serious athlete (recently signed with a D1 school, full ride plus an additional food allowance and stipend), he's finished his meal before I take my first bite and he's hungry again an hour later. Right -- Ethan, 16, 6'4", semi athlete (enjoys, but doesn't want to follow in Gabe's footsteps), takes his time to sav
  6. I've been to the Fort several times in November. Always take my winter coat and always have to wear it part of the trip. One trip was 30 degrees at night ... another was in the low 40s with a stiff wind ... be prepared for any weather!
  7. More great pictures! I'm always amazed at how different DL/DCA are from WDW.
  8. Thanks for the list! Unfortunately most of the restaurants we'll be visiting on our upcoming trip are only 10% off. Guess we'll be buying Tables in Wonderland again.
  9. Does anyone have a list of the 45 restaurants? We haven't bought our new APs yet, so I don't have access to the list. Thanks!
  10. Back in the '80s we had a TT and the kids were young. We packed lots of deli meats, cheese, and snacks in the fridge for meals on the road. Now that it's just the two of us and we have a Class A diesel pusher, we frequent Cracker Barrels for meals since we usually overnight there. Still pack snacks -- nuts, protein bars, soft drinks. The night before we arrive at the Fort we stop at the Pilot/Flying J in St. Augustine and usually get burgers at Denny's. Leave there around 4:30 am, drive to the Fort, and have breakfast at Trail's End while we're waiting for our site assignment.
  11. Sorry to hear about your motion sickness. Sounds like yours is a lot worse than mine. No fun.
  12. Thanks for the info! I'll try to talk David into trying it again.
  13. Carol, do you know what the changes are on Mission Space Green? We rode it last trip and thought it was rather boring. Should we try the new version?
  14. Haha. I'm still using my Note 3. (A Note 8 is in my future too.)
  15. What a great thing for you to pay for that mother's champagne! I'm sure you made her day.
  16. I totally sympathize. For our longer trips I spend hundreds of hours writing my trip reports, and it's really disheartening when I feel like only a handful of people read them.
