499 days out - for the über planner

FWIW, today is 499 days to Friday 10/21/2016, great arrival date for a Halloween-centric 10+ day stay. -
900 loop
Santa ... Shannon replied to Littleolwoman.aka.Kristie's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
I think it is how narrow the site is, and how sharp the angle to the road is... just looking at the pattern of what they rank various sites. I DONT think they consider obstructions on the opposite side of the road, which generally are one of the biggest problems for me. -
But it is ok for you to deliver it to your site using their truck and trailer. So why not do that with the delivery guy in the truck? Then he can drive it out.
-
Is there some reason you couldn't just walk up front, like near the bus entry, hand the delivery guy your MagicBand, he drives through the automated gate to the overflow to unload where you are waiting? Or, meet out front, take the wheel and drive the truck and delivery guy in to your campsite to unload. At the very least it seems you should drive to the off-site with two drivers, one to drive your car home, the other to drive the delivery truck and driver in. Making two trips to the off-site drop off seems silly.

Yeah, the reason is if you turn around to look and then look at the same thing in the mirror you need to flip things in your mind and that can lead to confussion. Another thing that works is to have your spotter looking rearward and calling out directions according to what is right or left for them BUT NEVER pointing! They call "right", you apply your right, and the trailer moves to your left, which is the spotter's right... magic! But if they point, you're scr*wed!

More loop questions
Santa ... Shannon replied to luvdisnee's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
All four loops that have been mentioned are great loops. Loop 500 is my favorite and 300 is a close second, but we really enjoyed Loop 800 on this last trip and Loop 900 only slightly less so. 900 is super convenient to the trading post. Which means it's also rather close to the pool. I prefer to be walking distance to the Marina so that skews my opinion. I also love that the carriage rides generally go through both 300 and 500, and I really love that bit of additional atmosphere. -
And, if I can go off on a tangent for a sec, you mentioned learning how to back. The best piece of advise I ever got is to look at the trailer only in the mirrors and consider which direction you want the rear of the trailer to go, then, with your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel push the wheel in that direction. Makes a HUGE difference. And before you start, get out and survey all obstacles, especially low obstructions on the other side of the road that you might hit with the front of your truck while all your attention is on the trailer.

Last question first, you won't have trouble backing a 21'er into ANY premium. 800-900 are very shady and quiet, and easy access to the Meadows, but a few sites on each are on the creek, but not a problem if you get an inside site. You're probably going to want to be near the bathhouse anyhow, so you'd naturally be far from the creek. 1400 is an option: some people love it, me, not so much. Many sites in 1400 back up to a much larger creek than either 800 or 900.

Pepper Market?
Santa ... Shannon replied to Santa ... Shannon's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
Well thanks for the update! We might have to make the trip over next time, for reminiscing if for no other reason. We ate there before we ever stayed on site, and on our first time checking our the Fort. -
Globetrotting: to Disneyland Paris and back with TCD

Who are we supposed to feel bad for, Caitlin or Bruce, when he/she realizes that he/she is trapped in neither a man's nor a woman's body? -
I AM a planner, and I don't like having to make dinner reservations at 180 or day plans at 60! It's just too much. And now with the changes to site reservations I'm going to have to be Johnny on the spot at 499 days to get a prime date like Halloween? Who plans that far in advance!? And yeah, the crowds, forget about it. More Fort-only vacays may be in my future.
