Except  installing all the utilities along with the roads would not be cheap.. Then you would have to remove it all to build since you could have future failures where all the pipes (water & sewer) are located.  It would also require one or more additional bath houses.   Would be nice though. And they definitely need to rebuild the BYBBQ.

Campsites could work to help bring in $ at least short term vs an empty piece of land. Then if/when they get it started again it wouldn't be a huge deal to bulldoze campsites and resume the original plan (shudder).

Must have been right at the beginning of the opening.
    Fair points!  🙂
Plus I'm not really sure how much of a Disney fan he is. Seems at least some of the people that were eager to get to DS when it opened did so at least in part because they were looking to fill the Disney fix they'd been missing.

djsamuel got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Taking Bets on DS reopening
We did go on Friday.  It was very nice and not crowded.  Everybody was adhering to the rules and were polite; both the workers and guests.  The entry was a breeze; quick and easy.
I made sure to walk to the scene of the BBQ crime. 😀  All of the tables at that spot were gone.  All of Raglan Road is still closed so they removed all of the tables around there.  Guess that won't be happening there again.
Several restaurants were open and the lines weren't bad/non existent.  The only lines were at Earl of Sandwich and Blaze Pizza; and they were more caused by the 6' rule than by crowds.  Overall it was very nice getting back, although a little strange driving the empty roads of Disney World.

Yes, this! I don't know what makes anyone think that this is a good idea when there are a ton of other possible options.
I will give you a dollar for a picture of that!

So far down here we've eaten at Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel and our favorite Italian Restaurant in Winter Springs that just reopened.  All three experiences have been excellent.  They are doing a great job.  Olive Garden in Clermont was especially creative.  You pulled into the parking lot and followed the signs to an outdoor check in tent.  You checked in while still in your car, and then parked where they told you to.  You then walked to the door and waited outside.  Within a minute, someone came to the door with printed throw away menus to take you to your table.  The menu was reduced in terms of selection but still had a nice variety.  The food was great as was the service.  All three restaurants went out of their way to make sure you took your time and to make sure you realized how much they appreciated our business.  Won't hesitate to go again.  No if the local Chick Fil A would open dine in that would be great.

Texas Road House is doing the same, you can even stay in your car and they call your cell phone when your table is ready or you can sit in the outdoor waiting area. They even had picnic tables with EZ ups for outside dining.

IMHO. They should open the parks to people who are willing to sign a liability waiver and give employees the choice of whether to work or not.  And provide masks, and EDUCATION to all arriving guests.

I saw a couple of posts (nothing official) that suggested this might be something you will have to do to gain access to the parks and resorts, giving up any possibility of suing Disney.
I wouldn't be surprised if they added it to the fine print when purchasing tickets and making reservations.
And I'm sure all the theme parks and any place (stadiums, concert halls, etc.) with crowds will be looking at doing the same thing.

Agreed.  Then again, I think this is where we should be, with the entire country. Those governors who are keeping their states closed, it's about control and the amount of damage that they are doing is immense.  This is a virus, people understand that; citizens need to be allowed to make their own choices.
Because it's not about the mask, Mo.  I know you have to understand that.  I don't wear a mask.  Never have, nor do I have any plans to.  This includes not going back to Costco (until they remove the mask requirement)  for which we've been a member of for 25+ years (before it even was Costco as I'm from the PNW).    We've always had viruses, yet never have we been required to wear a mask.  Even the CDC and Surgeon General didn't require masks, until a few weeks ago when (in my opinion) we started to get a better grasp on what this virus was and confirmation on who it was truly affecting, at that point Americans started to panic a little less and started to push for things to open back up.   At that point, the decision came down, that the general public should be wearing masks.  All this does in bolster fear as folks believe they need a mask, to be safe.  This simply is not true... or if it is true, why has it not been suggested (or required) earlier as our country has experienced some brutal flu season that cost America many lives... and those lives were across the board on the demographics, not primarily focused on one group (thus making it easier for a sector of the population to choose to isolate).  As for the argument that I hear some say, well the flu is not an aerosol transmitted pathogen, of course it is.  Even our government recognizes this.  My favorite argument for the differences between SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza, is that 80% (or more) of individuals who contract this current coronavirus, either have mild or no (they are asymptomatic) systems.  All this does, is reinforce that fact that this virus is of no treat to a majority of the population.... which goes back to my original point, Mo.  People are not "losing their damned minds" over wearing a mask, they are angry over the amount of control being enforced and they... we... should be.  In my home state of Washington, the governor has announced that starting this week, he is implementing mandatory testing.  A policy that he is carrying out with such force, that he has the National Guard ready to step in and enforce his rule.  If necessary, they will go door to door.  If you test positive, he says he will remove people from their homes so that they can be forced to isolate at a location that the State of Washington has created.  There are facilities already set up.  They will removed children from homes and place them under the custody of DCYF.  Could you imagine?!   They come to your home, test you, you are positive for this virus (but have no symptoms because most people do not) and they take your children.  Not only are that doing that, but because they are expecting to take so many children and they are in a rush to find adults to watch these babies, the governor has waived requirement for this care givers.  Here is what the proclamation states:
"Waiving licensing requirements for healthcare workers This proclamation waives requirements necessary for health care workers to remain licensed to practice in the state, including ongoing training and continuing education requirements. These waivers will deliver much needed relief to an increasingly taxed health care system, allowing workers to focus on providing care to Washingtonians during the COVID-19 outbreak.   Waiving requirements for child care and background checks This proclamation waives several requirements for licensed childcare workers, including requiring federal fingerprint background checks before completing the licensing process. This responds to an increased need for childcare during the COVID-19 emergency, increasing availability by allowing workers to be more easily licensed to provide care to those who need it."   Fantastic, right?  This should be real good, for the sex trafficking business.  Please do not tell me that this is not happening, the hell it's not.   My family is still in Washington, my friends are still in Washington.... they.are.fighting.... because this is happening.    We all should pray, that we don't have a loved one get sick.  Not only did 1.4 million health care workers loose their jobs in April (which means we should hope that someone, who is qualified, is there to help us if we need it), but family is not allowed in the hospitals.  Two conversations I had recently:  a girl whose grandmother passed away; her grandparents had been married for over 50 years and her grandfather was not allowed in the hospital.  Could you imagine?  You've done this life, with your person, for over 50 years and you're not there there to make sure that they are not in pain, that they are not scared, that they are not... alone.  You don't get to say goodbye, to the person that you've. done. life. with.   They are ALONE.   Another woman who I spoke with, her closest friend just lost their grandbaby.  They were not allowed in the hospital.  They had to stay outside in the parking lot, while their grandchild was inside.. dying.  THIS IS NOT OKAY.  But his is what fear does.  The same fear that tells everyone they must wear a mask, is destroying our country... and not from the deaths is causing, but from the liberties that are being stripped.  It needs to stop.

Bet a lot of the rules following, mask wearing guests will be all too happy to report non-mask wearers.  We just need Disney to follow up on their rules.

This is the key.  Disney needs to increase security and more importantly, finally give the them the ability to enforce the rules.  I have friends who are in security and often the path taken is to minimize disruption to the gust rather than strictly enforcing the rules.  That is what needs to change with this.  If you won't wear a face mask they escort you out of the park; no second chance.

I'm going to keep my nice, peaceful Monday morning intact and not read the comments, but based on the craziness I see on social media in general, I can very well imagine what they are.
But hey, it's a heckuva lot easier to keep capacity down if a bunch of people take themselves out of the running!

I expect that will be the case with a lot of restaurants here as well.  Some weren't able to adapt to doing a good enough takeout/delivery business to keep that going and temporarily closed.  I expect those places may attempt the limited opening - although I don't know how well that will go and I expect some of them just won't make it sadly. It's another case of not just throwing the doors open when you're "allowed to".  Even those restaurants doing ok with takeout have learned they have to change SOP.  For many that means changing up their menus, usually whittling them down to the most popular items only, and some have taken on doing the delivery themselves instead of relying on the delivery services that take a (sometimes sizable) cut.

It took our local favorite restaurant (who has a handful of places throughout the state) a few weeks to figure out how to make it work for them but they are doing a decent business now. Their owner said he's not inclined to partially open until we're at a point that it's profitable - which isn't just how many people are *allowed* inside, but how many people will actually show up. We've done some takeout over the past couple of months, probably about as much as we did normally, but while we miss dining out, neither of us are anxious to go sit in a dining room now and won't likely be for some time until we see how all this "opening up" shakes out.
That makes sense. The festival was scheduled to end June 1 anyway, and it seems super unlikely we'll see parks open before that at this point.

Even with the FL resident "discount" for AP's, they are pretty pricey, especially for a family with 2 or 3 kids.
For our resident silver AP's its almost $80 a month for our 2 passes and that was with our renewal discount.
Disney is not dumb, when they allow monthly payments it seems more affordable, just like car payments, until you look at the total cost!
I guess we could use our stimulus checks to upgrade and support the economy!

One possible option I've seen other do is to have an additional hitch receiver installed on the front of their truck.  It is much easier to maneuver the trailer in this manner, especially if visibility is a problem.  The dolly options I've seen are pretty expensive and I've seen mixed reviews.  I think it would depend on the surface on which you'd be moving the trailer.

DISNEY is probably no different than the State of FL, projects continue especially since they can do them without having to  worry about guests in the parks. The Governor ordered increased constuction on I-4 since the traffic flow is reduced.
