Last season for the Osbourne Lights

Recommended Posts

Full blown Osborne lights. If you.come around past Indy, they make you go all the way around to the entrance by Lights, Camera.

That's the normal traffic pattern for busy nights. There's only one way in, but you can exit up near the Sci-Fi restaurant, over by Muppets, or down the San Francisco Street.

Later in the evening, or on slower nights, you can come in those ways too.

Video posted online by Orlando Attractions Magazine of the final song and goodbye... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDeJ4d0E6S8&feature=youtu.be

Thanks. I didn't realize that the Streets of America are that long. So give me the entire area from Mouse gear to Canada to Mexico. I'll turn it into the biggest light show WDW has ever seen. Lol.

Ok, this is really late, and I apologize, but we found the cat up above the purple canopy that you can walk through on December 12:

Don't want to get anyone's hopes up to much, wouldn't hold my breath and maybe just wishful thinking but we were told by a cm in guest relations that it will be the last year for the lights there and how they are set up now. But to look forward to them or a similar display to be somewhere else in coming years.

Now there's a nice, vague rumor.

I believe it, though -there is going to be a void left by not having the Osborne Lights. They need something to draw holiday crowds away from the Magic Kingdom. It would make sense to have some kind of big holiday lights display either in Epcot or DHS. DHS is going to need the most help until Star Wars and Toy Story lands open.

Don't worry. While the Osborne lights are going away, a tribute light display will be installed for future holiday seasons at Mickey's Backyard Massage Parlor and Casino. It won't be quite as extravagant....just a single red light. But it will be deeply meaningful, in an Amsterdam sort of way.

Don't forget the red and blue flashing lights of Osceola's finest at the entrance to 3000 .

Saw the lights tonight. Got there about 20 minutes before. It wasn't crazy crowded. There are some new songs this year and lots of new little details all around. I'll post pics when I can. I put a video of the lighting ceremony in the Fortfiends.net Facebook page.

Oh and we didn't bother getting the spectacles but we'll probably be back again.

It was a zoooooooooo when we went. Way too many people in way to small of a space. We bugged out as soon as we could.

I'm glad we saw it the first night, crowds weren't to bad, you could actually move around. I'm afraid it's probably going to stay packed this year with it being the last.

Probably, the first night when we went they had plenty of cm out directing people (actually stopped us and asked where we were going when we were headed to the smoking area), would just be a matter of giving them the portable scanners. But then again it is Disney so you never know.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Very cool!

I'm glad we got there one last time during the "preview" days when it wasn't so insane. I snapped a bunch of pics and video that I'll get posted as soon as I finish getting caught up. Only 8 more loads of laundry to go!

Did you try to get a spot for the Disney Parks Blog meetup for that night? http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2015/11/sign-up-to-attend-our-osborne-family-spectacle-of-dancing-lights-meet-up/

Poor me, I was in Disneyland all day that day, and missed the post.

I think it's been 3 years since we last saw the lights and I have to say... we were disappointed this time. They've changed how the lights are ran (they used to shut off and then come back on and "dance" to music). This time around, it did not feel special at all.

At first I was bummed to hear that they were taking down the lights; now, we're just fine with it.

Oh... and what Beckers said: It was a zooooooo. Way too many people. But, that seemed to be the theme for our entire trip. Way too many people.

We hadn't seen the lights in 5+ years.

I was surprised how much more there was to see and how many songs the lights performed to.

I overheard a woman saying there were about twice as many performances this year than last... but that was just the 1 person.

It seemed like every 3 or 4 minutes they would start dancing again... but then we were there the first night of the "Sneak Peek" so maybe it changed when it officially opened?

I can see where seeing the lights in a totally packed situation wouldn't be fun, but I popped in for a peak last week, and everything looked great to me.

The lights were dancing, and I thought the lights looked better than ever, and the sound was good too.

Maybe they were having technical difficulties when you visited.

They had one song, where the lights "danced". According to the CM... she said that the lights were on a 3 song rotation and it just repeated itself. The last time we went (I think that was in 2012) the lights all turned off and then they came back on and danced to 3 or 4 songs, then the lights stayed solid/on. I think they repeated that three or four times during the evening. This time, I felt like there were more lights, but we really preferred the original (for us) set-up. Plus... they took out our favorite song, Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Carol of the Bells.

Yes, the crowds were a mess.
