If you record that and put it on FB, it'll make you enough $$ to be able to live at the Fort year round!

Keep visiting them and go inside of the PUP with dirty shoes each time.

Then when it comes time to buy, tell them you need a big discount because it's dirty and looks used!

Took a look at their appetizer menu and the prices surprisingly look fairly reasonable. Ordering two or three and splitting it between Rene and myself we would have something similar to what we would get at one of the chain sit down restaurants for about the same price.

Here's the link to the full menu:

Ok story time. Pull up a seat and get comfy kids.
When I was around 8 years old maybe 9 I insisted my Mom had to take me to the Mother Son dance at school. She didn't have any interest in going but I bagged the heck out of her till she finally caved. Of course I didn't know how to dance yet so my Mom taught me in the living room till I was only moderately horrible at it.
Come the night of the dance we got all dressed up and I have her the corsage my father had picked up for the occasion. We headed off to the dance. After we got there I wouldn't dance with my Mom. She started getting annoyed with me. I had harassed her I to this, made her teach me to dance and made her wear a dress. She was pretty ticked. Finally she asked if you aren't going to dance why did you put me through all this.
I replied, and this is a good one, when Heather(my sister) and Dad go they go out for ice cream after. I want to go out for ice cream too.
Some hoe I had decided the only way to go get a sundae with my Mom was to go to the dance. She started laughing hysterically and said if all I wanted was ice cream why the heck didn't I say so. We left and got some ice cream.
In all the years that followed we never had an occasion to dance with each other. Till the wedding. Seemed kind of unforgettable to me.

I picked up one of these that I permanently leave in the trailer. It acts as a wired or wireless router. It can also be used as a wireless extender. So far it has worked well and it saves time not having to reconfigure all of our various devices each time we go to a new campground.

Well, just add the Safari Breakfast to this...

For years, on six continents, Adventures by Disney has been offering families behind-the-scenes access to sights and local attractions on Disney-guided vacation tours. But New York City wasn’t on the menu – until this year. For the first time, Adventures by Disney has been providing whirlwind, four-day group tours of Manhattan on select weekends from May through October.
Starting at $2,600/adult and $2,500/child (12 and under), these guided New York City weekends aren’t cheap, but they provide seamless door-to-door travel experience, two Disney guides offering exceptional service and a few Disney perks along the way.

    The new FerryTale Wishes

    The Poly Bungalows

    The new Disney Springs Boathouse

And it does seem like Disney is catering to the 1% crowd.

I mean $300 for a breakfast and $99 for deserts is just plain crazy.

My grandmother grew up being excited about seeing the first "autocars" coming down the street.  The norm was horse and buggy.  I always thought hers was the generation that would see the most change in civilization -- cars, mass transit, color TV, space exploration, etc.

I grew up with a black and white television with an antenna on top of the house.  We had a "party" line phone shared with at least six other families who enjoyed listening in to each others' conversations.  I remember a loaf of bread being 12 cents and gas being 17 cents a gallon.

At my first job I made a whopping $300 a month and thought that was great.  I paid $2,700 for my first brand new car.

Fast forward a few years from that first job and we started visiting Disney.  We visited with my parents and shared a suite in the Contemporary that cost a whopping $145.77 a night, including tax.  Park tickets were cheap, and we only got the "A-E" tickets, but we made the best of them and had a great time.  In those days you could walk in and out of any attraction or restaurant without a wait.

Our three children each attended private school with day care before and after, and I think we paid around $100 a month for each one.

Meanwhile our incomes soared, prices soared, and we continued to visit WDW without complaining about the prices.

Then 10 years ago we took early retirement from our company.  And a few years ago we started collecting Social Security and went on Medicare.  WDW prices continue to rise at a phenomenal rate.  Our income is stagnant.  Our children are struggling financially, and we have to help them.

We always dreamed of wintering at the Fort.  I don't think that will ever happen.  We have reservations for 4 weeks at the Fort this fall, and hopefully we'll have another 4 weeks in 2016.  After that, I'm afraid we will be outpriced.

And I'm now thinking my generation has seen 10 times the change in civilization that my grandmother did.  What will my grandchildren have to go through?

Oh joy..... more self centered me generationals and their devil spawns filling up camp grounds and wanting instant gratification.

They never were taught what real (or semi real) camping was all about.  Setting up a tent, PUP or TT.  Getting dirty and meeting your neighbors.

They'll be wanting Starbucks spigots at every site and turn down service in their RV's.

And Rutherford and Missy will be driving their own golf carts even though they are 8 and 10 because mummsy and popsy said they could.

    Good points, Kristie!

I think it would be sad if Epcot becomes more "happy clappy" and less interesting and thought provoking, but also agree with the point we've brought up before, that it's difficult to keep up with ever (and quickly!) changing technology these days.

Hopefully they can find a balance and a way to keep the park relevant, while not straying too far from the park's original intent.

keith_h reacted to Littleolwoman.aka.Kristie in Speculating on the Future of Epcot
Interesting read for sure. I always looked at Epcot as a science hub. It was the park you went to for History, culture and the newest technology ideas. Your imagination was encouraged as you learned about and worked with new technology. It inspired you to dream of things people would say were impossible. If what this author is predicting, a more whimsical approach is true, then I see it as a regression. Society seems to be dumbing down. More play and who cares about the past. We are easily bored. We want action right now. We are like 2 year olds demanding our needs be met instantly. Do the imagineers realize this and so are transforming Epcot into more happy clappy and less things to ponder and chew on? I hope not but I suppose time will tell.

I'd take him to the Germany pavilion in Epcot, and have a meal at Biergarten.

When I went to Disneyland Paris, I thought it was interesting how Americans were portrayed there.

I would think the German student would find it interesting to see how his country is portrayed in Epcot.

Country ham is also known as Virginia Ham or Smithfield Ham. Not to be confused with the stuff you see in the deli counter by the same name nor the stuff in the meat counter made by Smithfield Foods. We will buy the vacuum packed slices on occasion for eating in biscuits or seasoning fresh green beans.

Only thing that's been missing to go with the boiled peanuts are an RC Cola or a Coke. The Moon Pie is optional.
