Wicked reacted to AuburnJen in A Message from the Bike Barn for Halloween!!!
Super Geek just received this message when he was picking up this AWESOMESAUCE minetrain trick or treat bucket (shown below).  (They also took down what site number you were at for the buckets so you couldn't get more than how many kids were at your site either.)
From the Bike Barn:  They are checking magic bands to see if you are a registered guest this year in order to trick or treat.  If you are not a registered guest, the Fort Rangers will not let you enter to get candy from the campers.
Back to your regularly scheduled holiday.

I can see Disney justifying the pet fee for dogs with keeping up the dog park, providing doggy doo stations and other stuff like that. It's hard for me to come up with arguments for other animals having fees other than Disney not wanting to ruffle the feathers of the pet equality folks.

Even though the cats are indoors only I would declare them in the event of an emergency with the RV. This way Fort personnel are aware that pets are inside and could try to save them if needed.

So what are they calling these containers now?
According to Merriam Webster, Dictionary.com, the Cambridge English Dictionary, the Oxford dictionary, and the Collins Dictionary, a mug has a handle.  Therefore they are no longer mugs.

I can't even imagine what all goes into moving the light parade floats. I think they should make a Disney special documentary on the entire process, I would watch.

I'm glad you mentioned the part about resort security and the freeloader pool, and not just Trick or Treat.

    it was me....
she wanted to know the site/ sites that things were posted on so i took numerous screen shots and sent them to her after our conversation, I also talked to her about the pool being used by non resort guests and how they really should put a MB scanner on it like the wilderness lodge now has and restrict it to resort guests.

to give more details, she said I was 1 of many many emails pertaining to this, and the new manager is being made aware of each one.
I don't know who the new guy is, but some of you posted here that he was good, we shall see...

during our conversation she did say to me that the events listed for  holiday weekend  in the activity schedule are for the"exclusively for  resort guest only"
She said that Disney does not publicly share the events schedule as to not draw attention to it but noted that various bloggers and websites do and that is what is creating the problem, I advised her that wasnt the issue, its resort security.... they could publish all they want, but if they are not providing a secure environment that's what causes the problem.  She saw my point when i mentioned the "gone mad" party at the GF, how they ran out of food/ drinks due to the amount of people that showed up for it this past Wednesday.  She was already aware of that(had a few complaints) and asked how i had known of it as i wasnt a resort guest, we got back to the blogs and such how people are essentially advertising come for the "free event"  here's how to "bypass security"

she then asked how could Disney make it better, we talked about the NSSHP and VMCP how they use wristbands for the event and have staff ushering people out, they already have wristbands they use and just pick a different color for each holiday weekend, no band no access its that simple and it can be done at any point of entry just have to enforce it  each site can hold 10 people, so at check in you get 10 bands
Its really not right/ fair for non resort guest to show up for events/ facility use when we are paying to be there
After 20 min or so we had exhausted all of my concerns and she sent me the email below
they have roughly 80 days to do something about it

For our 2 cats, we were trying to find the "right" spot for the litter box. Pam & I did some looking and measuring. Here is what I built. It will fit in a corner by the dining table or it can be placed next to the recliner and the height works in either location. The litter box goes in the bottom and Pam is making a curtain that will cover the opening. It's currently in the living room so that both of them can get used to it. As you can see in the one photo, Louie is inspecting it. So far it has their approval.
We hope put it in the coach this weekend (if they allow us to!). I'll post some photos with it in place later.

Wicked reacted to SuperMomma in Tent Newbie
    Hi all!
I am new to the fort fiends site but not new to fort camping.  Our family has been Halloween camping at the fort for the last 9 years.  Last year was our first year in the goft cart parade.  We did the ridiculously huge Millennium Falcon.  My kids also love the pet parade.  We camp with our great dane and bull terrier.   This year we are bringing our new pup also :-)

This will be our first year tent caming though.  We had a pop up in the past.  I would love helpful tent camping hacks or suggestions.   Tent campers always seem to have the best set ups!  Thanks so much!

The bath house is locked between 11pm and 6am. You need your resort magic band for access.
The laundry rooms are locked 24/7. You need your resort magic band for access.
Extra Magic Hours, both morning and evening. They scan your MB to enter the park for morning acess. Those without a resort MB will not gain entry.
Evening Magic Hours access, they scan your MB before entering an attraction, no access for those without a resort MB.
To enter the resort parking lot through the automatic gates, you need a resort magic band.
Yes, you can buy MBs for those with tickets only and match them to their tickets.BUT, those magic bands will not work on the bath house doors, the gates, and will not scan for extra magic hours.

Wicked reacted to AuburnJen in The New Fort Fiends Vinyl Stickers are HERE!
And they are in the store.  I have cleared out most of the items in the store that were available and if you are at the Halloween GG, you can find out what will come of the old store items, as I will let everyone know there.  We have decided to revamp the store and our product line and the logos a bit for the next five years.  The oval sticker we have used is now a retired piece and we are going to be offering a different design for the fall in the store for purchase at the same $5.00 price (pending any unforeseen production costs).  I am sure that your oval sticker, like mine, is a little worse for wear.  That is why I replaced my oval sticker this weekend with the new and improved white vinyl sticker!  Thanks to Mo and Super Geek for hashing out all the fine cut lines on Snarky, as he was a bit of a pain in the buttocks to get right.  Here is the sticker on my Jeep.  I have also put the link of the sticker in the store.  Look for more improved items this fall as we add new lines of TShirts and items to improve our brand and spread the word of Snarky.  Please thank Mo for her wonderful work in helping us out.

Wicked reacted to Tuke in So...what's the difference?
Actually, there is a big difference. Dumping grey water into bushes or into soils allows the soaps and other organics to peculate and absorbed through the soil slowly. This allows plants and other microscopic organisms to feed upon or directly fertilized by the grey water compounds. There are many companies now offering residential grey water reuse systems, which are great for landscape irrigation.
On the other hand, dumping your grey tank into a "ditch", which is likely a storm water drain or dry ephemeral stream, is illegal and for good reasons.  These dry ditches serve as direct drainage arteries that are directly connected to running streams and rivers during wet seasons. So that grey water may or may not have an opportunity to be naturally processed by nature before the next storm flood. Nature will still take care of the "storm water pollution" after it hits larger water body but at a much greater costs. A good example is Florida's state of emergency declared over algae blooms affecting the "Treasure Coast." It's all been attributed to storm water pollution from a myriad of insignificant sources.
Of course, dumping grey water onto the ground at a campground is less of an environmental issue and more of a overuse and mess issue.

Wicked reacted to mouseketab.....Carol in So...what's the difference?
there is no difference, and the campers you see dumping dishwater in a ditch are very inconsiderate and are ignoring the rules.
The only way to safely dump dishwater and/or grey water is to dig a hole, put a screen over it and dump in the hole. Also wipe your dishes thoroughly with a paper towel and discard the paper towel in the trash before washing.
That is how scouts had to do it when they were camping without facilities. That is how campers at local campgrounds and state parks should do it.

Wicked reacted to BradyBzLyn...Mo in CS ice maker, and general chilling
I did this back in May for WWW.  With temps in the high 80s-90 range, keeping the cooler in the shade (and it wasn't my best cooler), it took about 3-4 days for it to thaw completely.
When it comes to cooler tricks, I've also found that it helps to put a big beach towel on top of everything before you close the cover. That way when you open the lid, all the cool air doesn't get immediately sucked out.  Bonus points for being organized enough to know which side of the cooler what you're looking for is on, so you don't have to take the whole towel off to retrieve it.
