Actually, she is by far the more interactive character to get an autograph from.  While my 8yo likes Elsa, the rest of us prefer Anna.

Oh man, My daughter loves Marie.  She has been a crazy cat girl since about 5.  It's kind of scary.  I have a feeling she is going to have like 10 cats when she's an adult.  It's scary!

On top of that my oldest's favorite is Stitch--which is why I have Lilo and Stitch as my pic over there on the side.  He has loved Stitch since 18 months.  lol
Are we kicked off this non trip report for liking those two characters?

I just want to thank you *SO* much for this TR!! I am new to the site and spent two evenings reading every page of your awesome trip!! Your son is so adorable and your husband totally reminds me of mine!! Thank you for being so friendly and helpful with your posts.  And the community here is amazing!! I *had* to join in after reading thru (and figuring it out-I'm not very tech savvy)!!  Thanks again, I'm sure I'll be reading more as I impatiently await returning to the Fort for the holidays!!

There isn't any better way to travel with disabled children than an RV.  To this day, my daughter's happiest memories center around the time she spent camping with her brother and my wife and I.  In fact, she is hoping to be able to go with us sometime this summer.  I truly believe that the peacefullness and quiet of the woods has been very therapeutic for her.

i have been asked this before about my rental carts.  i have actually considered getting an 8 passenger cart and make it a handicap accessible by putting on a ramp and taking out the 2nd seat for scooters and wheelchairs.  would this be a useful thing?

Lets see if this works...  OK< it worked.  Somewhat large, but posted.  How can I reduce the size?

"Bottom Manufactured Bracket - by installer"

       "Installed Unit"

"Removable parts"  A post under the seat fits in the hole on the left end of the hinged bracket.  The other end of the bracket meshes (hinges) with the loops at the bottom of the post near the steps.

       "In Use"

I don't know if some of you have seen ours, but we have a chair lift on our MH.  It is basically a screw gear in a tube mounted to the sidewall next to the door, with a double hinged bracket that supports a chair (with seat belts).  It is powered by a 12 vdc motor mounted at the top of the tube and direct-wired to the battery below the step.  The chair swings into the coach so the user can step or be helped to the floor level without having to climb any steps.  It came complete except for the lower mount which must be locally fabricated to fit an individual RV, welded or bolted to the frame.  The bracket at the top of the tube is bolted through the sidewall, in our case just above the sink, next to the door.
Our chair is capable of lifting 400 pounds, although I hope none of us tests it to that extent.  It has become invaluable for lifting our "little ones" as their sizes and weights (and our ages) have increased and our lifting powers have decreased.  It could be a valuable aid for a disabled traveler or travel partner.  During travel, the chair and hinged bracket are removed, with only the tube and motor left in place.  The unit, except for the fabricated lower bracket, can be moved to a replacement RV when the time comes.  It has been a great investment for us.

Let's head to the ole fashioned swimmin hole, shall we?

We start out with a classic Disney relic of the past:

I should stop right here and pick it up later.

Those pics deserve their own update.

    But we will continue on..........

    There you have it.

That was a great way to put the lid on this trip back in time.

I have finally posted all of the pics that I knew were available to me.

Thanks for taking this journey back in time with me.

I hope you all have enjoyed the report.

I urge all of you who have old pics, especially Fort pics, to come out of the shadows and start your own "Back in Time" trip report.

    It's been real.

    Peace, I'm outta here!!

And does anyone see any of those damn scooters,..NO, you don't, because they weren't around then. How did we ever get along without them?
I'll tell you how, wheelchairs. If you wanted to do the parks that bad in those days, you pushed yourself or someone pushed you. And that's how it should be.

It is time for the first update.

What better way to get started than a bit of a tour around the Fort?

    I can't think of a better way.

    So here we go.

The first picture brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye all at the same time.

Because how could you get rid of something this dadgum cool?

    Wasn't that awesome?  and sad?

What moron decided to get rid of that?

    Anyway.

Let's move on to the Meadow on the way to the Settlement area:

We might as well stop in for a hoedown and some delicious fried chicken:

    Mom and older bro:

Mom and blondie (that would be me):

I had blonde hair until I was about 12 and then it turned such a dark brown it looks black in many photos.  Strange.

Someone save them from the Amoeba!!!!!

In the next update we will visit a brilliant and wonderful place of yore......

Speaking of the FWRR, I just realized that I see tracks in the back of this photo.  Right across the street- that isn't a sidewalk- it's FWRR track.

All the trees you see across the street are hiding the 600 loop sites.  You can't see any campers-just wilderness.  Now, of course, they have ripped out half the trees and poured a bunch more concrete so instead of seeing wilderness, you see huge RV's.

Aaron- you were not kidding when you said you had a cool idea for a unique trip report.

    Those photos are awesome!

I remember the sign that told you to tune in your AM radio for Disney information.

You can see from your check-in photo that they just had the check in lanes at that time- the Reception Outpost building was not built yet.

You are right about that Suburban!  What a cool truck!

It looks like you are in site 801.  It's amazing how you can't see anything but wilderness from the back of the site.

Since this is 1978, I am expecting some FWRR photos!

That Suburban rocks my socks off.

My first trip to the Fort was in 1977.  Rode from Buffalo to the Fort in the back of an F250.  Hey, it had a cap on it.  And shag carpeting covering the truck bed.  Gotta love the 70's.

Jason, thanks for reposting these from the other site.  I saw them there originally too.  Have to say, so very dissappointed in not having the oven anymore.  However, I never worked a convection/microwave before either.  Wondering how that's going to work out with cooking meals for 5 people!  We go next Spring.  185 days to go! :yaysmilesa-smiley:

That is very cool - storage and a real couch to boot! That could have worked nicely in that space and given them a lot of bang for the buck.

Sofa beds stop being comfortable really quickly from being folded up most of the time.
