Dave is a funny boy, I don't really know how to spell Texas let alone Tennessee. But the real story is that the original Owners made their money in oil (Texas T) so when they built this place that was the name they gave it. The second owners never changed it (they were from Ohio) and when the current owners (James and Pat) bought it they were from Texas (Houston) and when they were closing on it the lawyer asked what they wanted to change the name to and James said there was no reason to change it.

That’s amazing!
A cat cat went missing from the town next to me, they found it 12 miles away from home and it had to cross 2 busy highways to get there! Thankfully it was chipped so they were able to reunite jt

Good news! The Siamese cat apparently returned this morning without encountering Mr. Bobcat.

I hope her people can stay long enough for the cat to come back to their camp.

Hmm...I did not see the fences around the playgrounds yet. Makes me want to buy rolls of paper, let kids in the campground create "artwork" and then cover the fences. I would have to stop myself from adding, "Please pardon our mess while we think we are improving your guest experience." though.

Maybe they can start a "Character Rider Line" - kind of like the front car line at Everest. Want to ride in the front? Fine - go wait over there until there's a spot for you.

While I check out the Fort Wilderness facebook pages, I can't bring myself to participate. All they seem to concentrate on is how to game the system, and also the latest fad they "must do". That is what makes this site the best for Fort Wilderness.

Agree 100%. To me, the biggest thing the fort can do is require Magic Bands to gain access to the pool. You do that, you take away the main reason people come in. I have friends who are guards there and they block a LOT of people trying to get in. They even try to monitor the camera at the side gate, yet people keep trying to tailgate a bus to gain entry. I've seen some tailgate a bus to drive down the service road from Fort Wilderness (when it was open). And as you stated, you have the buses and boats adding to it. We've been on a bus to the Fort from Disney Springs and have seen families get on carrying pool toys and towels while in their bathing suits! They were dry and were obviously not coming from Typhoon Lagoon since the Typhoon Lagoon bus used to drop everyone off at Disney Springs.
The thing is, as long as you have people so willing to do what they know is wrong, they will always find a way. Eliminate the "prize" , i.e. the pool access, and you will greatly reduce those trying to get in.

Actually, as a local, there is no difference between a Floridian and a local by any definition. I live 30 minutes away, my wife worked years for Disney and retired and now we enjoy the benefits she earned when we can fit it in around my work schedule. We use the amenities at the Fort when we are PAYING to stay there. What the Fort needs to control are rude self centered people, be they from 5 miles away or 1,000 miles, paying or freeloading (which by definition is rude and self centered). Unfortunately that is the problem and is a reflection of society not Disney. Knowing some people who work at Disney and the Fort as well, they are trying VERY hard to improve things and still maintain an enjoyable atmosphere that allows people to enjoy themselves. We've witnessed freeloaders at the Fort from many states away who aren't staying on Disney property at all. The guards have to put up with people flashing their annual pass and demanding access to everything at Fort Wilderness. It is a very tough job.

Kanye actually offered me the money for the 3000 loop but, as much as I was tempted, I couldn’t sell out my fellow 3000 loopers.

Exactly.
The problem isn’t the scooter or the stroller. It’s the people who operate them.

That will never happen. It'll cut down of people getting food, drinks, and other merchandise.
Bottom line is Disney has become a Blivet..... 20 pounds of manure in a 10 pound sack.
It started splitting at the seams years ago, and they haven't done anything to alleviate the overcrowding.
They did too good of a job selling themselves as the vacation capital of the world and didn't expand the infrastructure to match the crowds.

I don't get it. Can't you just take a bottle of booze, pour some in a glass and add some mixer for a lot less money? In fact my way will work during a hurricane after the power goes out, which is very important, and theirs won't.

No this is a horse of a different color.

The guarantee from Disney was the brick would stay in place for 10 years. Since it ended in 2000 the guarantee would have expired in 2010. Looking at the installed pavers I think they could take them up individually but my guess is they want to do it on the cheap with a front loader and a dumpster. Still stinks if you ask me.

fladogfan aka Gretchen reacted to DaveInTN in MK Commemorative Bricks for Sale
Let me see if I have this straight. Disney used to sell commemorative bricks to guests, personalized with their family's name or whatever they chose to have inscribed, for use on a walkway around Seven Seas Lagoon. I don't know exactly how Disney described these pavers at the time, but you can search online for information about the program and find the words "permanent" and "legacy" in many places, including on Disney's own Moms Panel website. There is also information that indicates the bricks cost anywhere between $85-250 depending on size. And now Disney intends to rip this walkway up, and it's not possible to save the commemorative bricks. That you paid between $85-250 for. But wait, don't worry! If you previously purchased a commemorative paver that is about to be destroyed, Disney will now SELL YOU ANOTHER ONE! Of course, this new one is at a much lower price of $10. Which is about $9 more than it would cost you to buy one at Home Depot along with some stencils to make your own at home....which is precisely where the new brick will sit. At home. Not permanently along a pathway at the Magic Kingdom where you thought your brick would reside for you to visit on future trips, leaving a legacy for your children and grandchildren to someday seek out.
I didn't buy one of these pavers, but if I did I'd be pissed. It's unconscionable that Disney is actually charging previous purchasers $10 to get another to take home. Not only should a replacement brick be provided to these people for free, but they should get some free FP's, meal vouchers, or something of value as a goodwill token in exchange for the $85-250 they previously spent on bricks that are getting ripped up and tossed in the trash.
