h2odivers...Ray got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Gondola Construction Updates (beginning at EPCOT)
I don't think this is been reported here yet. If it has, sorry. I just received this email from Disney about her upcoming trip to pop century this Christmas.
VIEW in your browser Disney's Pop Century Resort October 2017 Dear XXXX Party, We are delighted you have chosen to stay with us at Disney's Pop Century Resort!
Walt Disney once spoke of how his creations would never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world. It is in this spirit that we have embarked on creating a new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, which will give Guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World® Resort while traveling via gondolas. This transportation system will connect future Guests of Disney's Pop Century Resort with Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, the International Gateway at Epcot® and other Resorts.
While we work our magic, the Resort will be in full operation with all amenities available to you, including our dining, merchandise and recreation locations. It is possible that you may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from your Guest room between dusk and 9:00am. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know we are making every effort to ensure your comfort and enjoyment.
If you have questions or need assistance prior to your arrival, please call the Disney Reservation Center at 407-939-7805 between the hours of 7:00am-11:00pm (ET).
General Manager Jeff Korte and the team at Disney's Pop Century Resort look forward to your arrival and wish you a truly magical stay!
Sincerely, Disney Destinations, LLC

h2odivers...Ray reacted to Katman1356...Jason in Dogs to be allowed at some WDW Resort Hotels + Fort Wilderness Cabins
For us Jedi doesn't go everywhere. When we travel he does come with us and if a place is pet friendly we evaluate on a case by case basis whether it would be something worth taking him to or if he will react badly to it.
For us it's more about keeping his routine similar to home. He has a collapsible crate with a blanket over it that is his space. It travels with us everywhere even camping. When we stay somewhere in a hotel he stays in the crate when we are out just as he would at home.
If we need to stop somewhere that isn't pet friendly in our travels and he is in the car we take turns saying using the bathroom and walking him in dog walks at rest areas.

I am just assuming here but I would think anyone that has a true service animal would be more than happy to have their animal display an official "badge". I can't imagine what a headache it is for them with people pretending their animals are legit, having bad behavior and then causing a bad rep for service animals and making things more difficult for them.

When we've owned dogs we've always arranged for their care at home or a kennel.
What I can't see coming out of this is the long term or short term for that matter desirability of rooms. Let's forgo the replaceable stuff like furniture that a dog might damage while the owners are gone. Instead how many dogs will have accidents of various types. No matter how you clean the carpets not all of it comes out and the smells will build up. The floors underneath are concrete and will absorb fluids as well. Even if they use a flooring like Pergo the fluids will work into the cracks. Unless they use something like linoleum or epoxy painted floors I can't see how the rooms won't begin to stink after a while. Even if I owned a pet I don't think I would put up with that.
Another concern is how will the dog react to being in a room that has belonged to so many others? I could see this bringing out poor behavior as the dog tries to figure out where they are all coming from. Some dogs I have known would become really hyperactive trying to figure out where all of those other dogs have come from. I also suspect it would make one of my oldest daughter's dog become aggressive as she becomes very protective around other dogs.
Lastly, how do you handle barkers? Not all owners care that their dogs bark. What if it yaps for hours while the owner is at the parks? Does Disney go in to remove them? Will FP's really compensate the neighboring room that has to put up with it? I just don't think it is a good idea as the negatives just don't outweigh the positives from my perspective.

That is bizarre. Lol.
Omg. It's amazing what the average person will spend on there fur baby. Trust me it's not just the 1%ers. There will be animals at ever resort. Including the value resorts. I don't get it but there are people that cannot be away from there fur babies for more than one night. And the funny thing is they always blame it on the dog. "
Oh my dog can't stand to be away from us. We just have to bring a little poochie with us or he will die!"
i love our dogs but they don't travel with us. Yes ours whines when we leave. They act like it's the end of the world. But one minute later they are on the couch sleeping. And I have the security cameras to prove it. Lol!

This***
one of the problems is that people think
"it's my vacation and I'll do what I want regardless of others! Besides my dog is a good dog and never barks or jumps up on people or anything. It's other people's dog that cause the problems."
I may be alone but I don't like strange dogs. Probably because I was bit by a dog as a child by a dog who's never bit anyone before. And o don't think it's fair that I have to deal with others dog at Home Depot, at Sam's club or the countless other places people feel they have the right to bring their dogs
I feel your rights end when they interfere with others rights. And when I have to walk around your dog or down another aisle in a place of business. Or listen to or smell your dog at a hotel, well you have interfered with my rights.

IMHO. Disney is just asking for trouble. Between dogs tearing up the room, and barking all day because their owners have been at the park for 12 hours. It's going to be a pain in the butt for CMs.
And just wait till a little kid gets bit.

h2odivers...Ray got a reaction from PureTcrazy...rita in Did I just pay $175 for a campsite?
With all due respect.
We are talking about the Fort.
Not other campgrounds.
I know this is a touchy subject, based on several posts here, but the fort keeps raising their prices and cutting back on service. I believe most of us can agree on that. But it's not just the fort. It's all of WDW.
IMHO Disney is living off of its reputation as being the number one family vacation destination.
And those bean counters in the corporate office don't see that they are running off life long loyal customers. Just read some of the posts on this thread.
You will see comments like...
"we were ones that solely camped at the fort and reservations and prices just got too out of control for us."
"I wish they would slow down on the price increases"
"I agree that rates are getting to the point that no matter how much we like the fort it is something we won't be doing as often as we would like to."
I will defend WDW's right to charge what every the market will bear. Heck, I own stock I want them to make money.
But if you look at other industries they have loyalty programs and cater more to their loyal customers than Disney.
Why? Because they know that their regular loyal customers are their bread and butter. Its business 101.
its cheaper to market to an existing customer. It costs about 6-8 times more to attract a new customer than it does to keep an existing customer. Approve 65-70% of most company's business comes from existing customers.
Yes there will always be those people that save up their pennies to take a once in a lifetime disney vacations and they won't know how much prices have gone up and service and quality has gone down
It seems like Disney is choosing to make a quick buck off of the once in a life time customer.
I personally would rather make $20 off of a loyal customer once or twice a year for the next 20 years then make $100 one time off of a one time customer.
But thats just my opinion

I finally heard from my older sister. She made it out of Port St. Lucie and up to some family we have in NYC. And now the great news. Friday her doctor called her and told her that she doesn't have breast cancer as they first thought. Tests were negative.
Thank you God!

Perhaps we just disagree on the term disney bashing. None of your complaints you just posted are "Disney bashing".
They are legitimate complaints that Disney should addresse. And as Disney World fans, we have the right to complain about them. And I have a feeling someone in Fort management read these forums. And that's why I don't think discussing complaints is a waste of time
And im sorry to those who think talking about WDW short comings shouldn't be discussed. Just remember we discuss a lot more things we love about WDW then ings we don't like.
Also. I don't remember characterizing you as throwing a "hissy fit". But I humbly apologize.
-
h2odivers...Ray got a reaction from jugman in Did I just pay $175 for a campsite?
I agree with almost everything you said.
Except the "Disney bashing". Are we not allowed to discuss and complain about policies, rules and pricing disney has put into place? Most people that have posted are not happy about the ever increasing prices and cuts in service. That doesn't mean we are bashing Disney.
Most people didn't like when they took away the hola hoops. Or removed the old mower. Where they disney bashing? No.
The fact is disney has raised prices and it's pushed some people out of the fort. Or forced them to cut back.
Does Disney have the right to do this? Absolutely.
And everyone has to decide what's best for their vacation dollar.
But please don't try and shut people down by saying they are disney bashing. We all love the Fort and Disney. And we all want to see it prosper and grow.

You guys must be getting different news reports then the rest of the country.
Your governor was on all the news stations and said.
1. They are sending fuel and essentials to replace shortages and are working with The federal government and businesses to have fuel and supplies strategically located around the state for after the storm.
2. He also said they are setting up shelters with supplies for those people who need to shelter in place.
So it sounds to me like the governor is doing what you're saying he should be doing.

I don't know the man and have not followed his career or time there in Florida however, I cannot imagine that the job of governing millions is easy. I can't imagine that governing a state, while anticipating a potentially catastrophic event, is one that you get a whole heck of lot of training on. You cannot control the actions of others, no matter how hard you may try, you cannot control how those in your state will react, no matter how many projections are made. If you think that it's ridiculous that the gas stations are out of gas and the stores have no water, I trust that you've already gassed up and are well stocked just in case the storm does come your way. I pray it does not.
Those (citizens) that have to stay, have to stay. But if we lived there and could go, we would go.
Is he an idiot? Maybe, I have no idea. And while he may, in fact, be covering his butt in an attempt to secure a reelection, it's also possible that he's just trying to figure out the best way to save lives.
But, the job is always open... make a run for it. Handle the next major storm, differently.
Until then, I'll continue to pray that the storm pushes out to sea and that lives and property are spared.

I agree. I wish ALL teams would suspend players when they royally screw up. including the NFL. It wouldn't take long to weed out the bad apples and perhaps kids coming out of high school would realize that if they screw up they're out.

What chaps my hide is that these kids have a 4 year scholarship and all they have to do is keep their noses clean and play football. it's pathetic. This crap goes on at every school.
