  1. I'm wondering if the resort monorail is running in the mid to late evenings? We want to go eat at the Poly and then go on the monorail to the other resorts that are decorated. Is it possible right now? This could be on a weekend or during the week haven't looked at exact days yet. I thought I saw a notice that the resort line wasn't running all the time right now....
  2. Like was said earlier the vibe is different at DL. People aren't as harried, no one's trying to run over you with a big fat stroller and park hopping is awesome. And DTD is right there. Loved it and I'm an Orlando native. We stayed off property and walked about 3 blocks to the front gates. And once you've been through security you don't have to go back through again to park hop. Don't know when G&G went(only skimmed report) but starting around Halloween they start closing off some rides to make them over for Christmas. We didn't get to ride Small World because of that. Also it was cool t
  3. Someone tell me who the Luckow family is and why I should care. I tried to Goggle but came up with nothing. They sound like people with a bunch of $$ from NJ and not much sense wasting it on concerts and fireworks......
  4. Dinner at CG was awesome, dh and I argued over who would get the steak and he won. I ended up with the pork and mine was actually a better dish than the steak. The only problem was we made a 9 pm reservation, were seated at 905pm and didn't finish dinner until after 11 pm because of the fireworks. It was a very late night for us with early church the next day. But I would go back in the winter for the early firework show.
  5. Was the Frozen fireworks at DHS after 9 pm? I ask because my DH and I were enjoying our 22nd anniversary dinner on July 19th at the California Grill and we expected to see MK and EPCOT fireworks but there was another set in there as well and it looked like it was coming from HS. Couldn't figure it out and we didn't ask anyone.
  6. Don't know who Luke Bryan is, maybe a country singer? I never listen to it. Fireworks would have been cool though. Give you props for going during a holiday. I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. I'll live vicariously through others. That's the beauty of having APs and living in Orlando. Go anytime but most times when no ones there.
  7. Those aren't trees they are pines which are only good for making paper. I had several at my home before I moved in and they were the first things to go. Very shallow roots and they are always the first to fall in a storm. Hopefully the park didn't re plant with more pines.
  8. Kudos to you for climbing the KW lighthouse. I am a founding member of the FL Lighthouse Association and have climbed every public lighthouse and many that aren't in the state of FL. They are ALL hot and tight feeling but I never miss a chance to do it. Also been to the Ernest Hemingway house, never again, I hate cats and they smell bad so that will be the only time I go there. That looks like a nice house you all rented. Maybe I'll look into it for our next time since we don't have an RV anymore. Snorkeling at Fort Zachary Taylor was pretty decent and the beach was nice there with a bar. Pi
  9. The towel thing compared to Disney was probably that no one lives on this island. The ferry over the morning that the ships come in and leave when the ships leave. No one is there to do the laundry so you need to take the towels with you. Princess gives you specific towels for just the beach and pool in your cabin but RCCL seems to make you check them out. We are probably the only people who would NEVER take another Disney cruise. Our dd (she was 5) hated the kids club so we didn't get the alone time e were looking for. Also they are always the most expensive of any cruises we price. Plus th
  10. We have a Margaritaville machine too. Use it mostly for smoothies though. Makes great snowcones with the soft ice just the way DH likes 'em.
  11. Been to the Starbucks in DTD. It's really nice and yeah I did drink the kool-aid.... Elsa is a dude-look he's got an Adam's apple.
  12. It does look like a small waterfall incorporated in the statue that Santa showed, so maybe there will still be one -however small.
  13. The motorcycles in Cartagena are really taxi services. There are literally thousands of them. We only saw 1 streetlight the entire time we drove around the city, and only 1 accident. Compared to Orlando where there is a streetlight every 50 feet and multiple accidents everyday. If you do go use Claudia as a guide, she was fabulous. Here are some pics of our stop there in April of this year on the Coral Princess. https://www.flickr.com/photos/curbcrusher/sets/72157644119425028/
  14. If anyone wants more in depth pictures of Grand Cayman with the turtle farm, Hell and stingrays/snorkeling they can check out ours at https://www.flickr.com/photos/curbcrusher/sets/72157644465958936/ we just came back from a partial Panama Canal cruise and that was one of our ports of call. Lou- the kayaking looked fun, it's on my list for next time.
  15. Great trip. I too enjoy history so when we went to DL last Halloween(2013) we stopped at the Richard Nixon library on the way from San Diego to LA. It was the 5th Presidential Library I've been to. Maybe I will get to all of them someday. Loved how DL and CA were right across from each other. That's real park hopping to me. No buses. We actually stayed just down the street and walked to the parks every day we were there. SO convenient. We did all the old school Disney stuff first and then hit Cars Land. Loved It! Didn't really like their version of DTD though. I always felt like we were in
  16. I'd rather have the bats than them spraying poison on me any day. Unlike most of you I'm not afraid of them, even if they bite....hopefully only insects!
  17. I'm currently at Disneyland and let me tell you it's been wonderful with the new system. I haven't been on a ride in the last 3 days that 20 people have cut in front of me. Like TCD I don't mind GKTW or others who really need the help but I have NEVER understood the need for parties of 10 that come in the back and get seated on an attraction immediately. Especially if there are multiple parties. I think the new system works in DL and can only hope it is working the next time I go to WDW.
  18. No they won't because there is no more OHS. It is now Howard Middle School and in a pretty bad section of town. The milk is probably spiked or spoiled.......
  19. We towed a 5th wheel and then had a MH until last year. Always took 9A/E295. I don't like bridges either (our first trip in MH was over Sunshine Skyway-thought I was going to have to check my pants as we were riding in the breakdown lane due to construction) but the middle lane over the suspension is A-OK with me. Can't see anything but the car in front of you. In fact we just drove over it coming back from Hilton Head/Savannah 2 weeks ago and all was still fine.
  20. I know that if they start to charge locals for parking that will end it for me and DTD. I've only gone to CityWalk when someone else picks up the parking tab. I'm frugal, not stupid.
  21. Lake Griffin was the one of the places we camped with our 5th wheel. Some of the sites in the back are weird though. You have to drive thru the dump station to get out. Wish they would correct that. If someone is dumping you have to wait to get by because there is no room to pass. It was also our 2nd to last place to camp with our MH before we sold it, we were there for New years this year. DD got sick and we had to leave early though. They added a few FHU's on the one side because they had to run sewer to the hosts and did it for the rest of the sites on that side.
  22. Just checking in. Most of the damage was in my neighborhood in Conway, about 5 miles north of the Airport. We had several very large, crappy laurel oaks come down. Some popped sidewalks many fell across the roads and one even hit the house next door and is still resting on it today. We lost power for about a day because my neighbor had 3 of his trees fall onto the power lines and break them along with the cable line. Everything is cleaned up. I believe it was more a microburst just like the one we had 3 weeks before Charley in August 2004. We need these every once in a while to wake people up
  23. That's the Winter Park FL train station on Park Ave. It's the ONLY train station I would use in Central FL. Very safe (police station is next door to train depot). And very quaint with shops and restaurants rightacross the street.
  24. Our order last time was all screwed up. My dd and dh wanted 4 legs 2 thighs and I wanted 4 breasts (so I would have some leftover for another dish). That's NOT what we got after we were promised the order taker would personally see to it. We also asked for all cornbread as we don't like the biscuits TE serves. They gave us biscuits and we couldn't even get the ants to eat those all weekend. Also the order was cold when we got it back to the RV. DD looks forward to that as her first night dinner, but I don't think we'll be getting it anymore. So make sure you check it before you leave TE so i
