  1. Love, love, love Dollywood, especially in the Fall. And the cast members are great, as evidenced by Mr. Photobomber. I bet that grandma will always walk back to the exit now. That is just hysterical (says the person who will not ride a roller coaster with drops, with a little evil laugh). Last time we were at Dollywood they were in the middle of building Lightning Rod. I know my boys would love it. They usually divide most of their time between Wild Eagle and Mystery Mine. Also, speaking of water parks, Dollywood's water park Splash Country is pretty nice and it has a great water coast
  2. Interesting list that includes both entire countries - Iceland, Lithuania and specific locations - "Downtown Denver." What about the rest of Denver? and why all of Baltimore for example. Beautiful photographs though. Makes me want to go to all of them. Although maybe not Cincinnati unless they've finished that highway construction.
  3. What a hysterical news story. Big headline of something with sub headline that it's not really happening. Article that quotes a report while also saying that the report isn't true.
  4. I find the 3 day minimum interesting, and so Disney. It seems this would be more of an advantage for people who weren't going to already spend 3 days in the parks but it's not offered to them. With a little forethought and some line standing, at most times of the year, couldn't you already do all those attractions you can get an extra FP for. But then I guess this isn't marketed to people like me who would just plan and stand instead of spend.
  5. Interesting similarity between these two photos. You obviously like interwoven patterns.
  6. I'm sure some people here have no idea what this is, but it made me smile because that show was my absolute favorite when I was a kid. When we went to US we stayed in one of the on-site hotels specifically to get the head of the line passes and it definitely was worth it. But there it wasn't per person it was per room and we had 5 in our room so the cost was pretty reasonable. That was back in 2011 and 2012 so I'm not sure if it's still the same. $50 per person per day is pretty steep. But then I'm only a Club Level wannabe.
  7. I bet that was the only monorail that smelled good that day.
  8. Playing along, I decided to see if I could find that dog elsewhere on the internet. Because I figured he/she had to be someone to be allowed on Castaway Cay. I thought I'd found it with this site: http://www.celebritydachshund.com/ But the dog you saw apparently wasn't Crusoe. But now I'm in awe of Crusoe and his humans and their marketing ability. Maybe it's a Crusoe wannabe ?
  9. Enjoying your trip report. I would have been buying lunch after Toy Story Mania too so I'll have to remember not to make that agreement, or follow with the "you go ahead and I'll catch up" technique . That cheese plate looks delicious.
  10. I was like that on my first cruise. I wanted to go but then during the mandatory emergency drill I started to panic. The seas were pretty rough that evening and I stressed out a lot that first night. But then after we docked the next day at Nassau and then were back on the ship I was fine. I knew land was out there. The second cruise I did the same panic during the mandatory emergency drill. But then when inside the ship I just pretended I was at a mall or hotel or restaurant on land. When I was sitting on deck I pretended that land was on the other side of the ship at all times. Don't know h
  11. Back when my older son was into checking things off lists and we had 6 day parkhoppers (2009 maybe) so we did every attraction/ride we saw it then. I remember it was quite "preachy" and my sons were antsy to leave. Never saw it again.
  12. Talking about it on the national news this morning they said residents were being told not to move them that they would be ok once they warmed up. And I'm thinking "they fell from a tree, will they really be ok?"
  13. Am I the only one who opened this thread expecting to see a photo of an oooey gooey cinnamon roll? Got fooled by that one a lot in the past. Looking forward to reading/seeing your 2017 adventures including any food/drink photos. I've been on the Dream and Wonder (before refurb) and I liked the Wonder the best.
  14. Josh "Olaf" Gad gets the last laugh. Olaf's Frozen Adventure makes its television debut tonight. 8pm on ABC http://abc.go.com/news/insider/olaf-frozen-adventure-joins-the-25-days-of-christmas-on-abc
  15. I can hear Miss Piggy now: "RETURNS"! "FORMER GLORY"! Moi has been glorious all along even when YOU couldn't see me.
  16. If you want to see Olaf's Frozen Adventure you'd better hurry -- they're pulling it from being the "short" before Coco by December 8th. Personally, I now wish I'd waited to see Coco until after December 8th. Our experience was similar to the people mentioned in the article -- wtFort is this and when is it going to end? I didn't realize there was actually going to be a Frozen 2 and I was calling OFA "Frozen 2" because it seemed as long as Frozen 1. And it was definitely geared toward younger young kids whereas to me Coco is more for older young kids. Not a good fit. The explanation that it
  17. This sounds like something to put on a tombstone!
  18. I posted in the Movie Reviews section but since it's a Disney / Pixar I'll post here too. We enjoyed Coco. Beautiful animation, a charming lead character (who is not named Coco) and a pretty good plot. You do have to get used to the fact that many of the characters are skeletons, but there is some humor there and eventually I got used to it and didn't even really notice because I was caught up in the plot. And maybe that aspect doesn't bother others as much as it had the potential to bother me (I don't like vampires, zombies, ghosts, etc. and avoid books, movies and tv shows about them).
  19. Love the Apple Barn! We've also been to Huck Finn's Catfish a couple of times. Dollywood used to have an arrive after 4 pm and your ticket was good for the next day also. 1-2 days depends on whether you want to do shows, rides, all or some. The shows are set times and usually more in the afternoon than morning. We've done 2 days when we want to see all the shows at Christmas because of the scheduling. Hotels - we usually stay in Pigeon Forge or even Sevierville which usually is a little cheaper. Gatlinburg is more walk around and Pigeon Forge is more drive between shops, restaura
  20. I had some leftover uncooked butternut squash and some Gala apples that were getting a little soft. I found this recipe, left out the onions, used garlic powder instead of fresh, used chicken stock instead of vegetable, left out the sage, used 1% milk instead of CashewMilk, and did not garnish. And it was still delicious ! ----------------------------------------------- Instant Pot Butternut Squash and Apple Soup 8 servings Prep Time 10 mins Cook Time 20 mins Ingredients 2 Tablespoons olive oil 1 medium yellow onion, ch
  21. Isn't that because of the 5-day cancel with no penalty cancellation policy. I was looking yesterday at a tent site Christmas 2018 and thought about booking even though I have no clue whether we'd even be able to go, but I could hold that site until 5 days before the check in without a penalty.
