We were on a freeway going through Kansas City when Google Maps said to exit, so we did.  Went through one or two stop lights and then Google Maps
had us get back on the freeway it had told us to exit less than a mile back.  "Stupid Google"!

    Just saw this:
This tiny camper that turns into a boat is coolest summer travel vehicle
You don’t have to choose between your camping and sailing weekend.
Germany’s Sealander camper, a cozy trailer-hitched camper that conveniently turns into a lake-worthy houseboat with a few minor adjustments.
So if you have no space to pitch a tent, just use all that open water on the nice, calm lake. Plus, you don’t have to worry about getting ashes from the fire pit getting in your sleeping bag.
The Sealander is made for both sitting dry under the stars, with its convertible sunroof, or taking a quick dip with its built-in handrail and ladder. The camper is only 1,100 pounds, so it’s easy to tow, as well.
The only drawback is that you can’t exactly throw a huge house party. The interior is only 13 square feet and has seating for six people. Seating also folds out into a bed. It doesn’t sound too comfortable for the entire family to enjoy at one time, but it’s probably great for a romantic getaway.
What it lacks in seating space, the Sealander makes up for in storage. The interior can be customized to include a fridge, a grill or even a toilet. Now you never have to leave your camper.
The tiny camper can drive at about 5 miles per hour, but it’s only intended for getting out to the water. Sadly, it’s not recommended to cruise the waves.
Of course, the cost for the perfect compact summer vacation currently runs just below $30,000 CAD (about $22,000 USD).
Currently, the Sealander is only available in Europe and Canada, but according to Maxim, the company meets safety standards for countries worldwide.

In my opinion all of these issues come from Disney NOT enforcing their rules.  Also, their reservation system software seems to be either very poor or Disney has strange reservation ideas.  If a pet owner has to stay in a non-pet loop Disney should offer to let them use the kennels for free. Maybe that would get Disney to look at their reservation policy/system for the Fort.

But they could put the cyclone dryer booths in like they have at Aquatica (but not charge for them).  They could turn on using your magic band so only legitimate guests could dry off.

Wouldn't you think that, with AK right on property and, I assume, someone on staff there with some familiarity with the native wildlife of Florida and their habits, at least one of those yellow vested minions would be one of those experts and would be able to advise Disney re. This project and the relative effectiveness in deterring gators?  My guess is that, upon closer inspection, these are the same college aged geniuses you see everywhere carrying clipboards and traveling in tight packs around the property.

It is not on the disney parks app. Your best bet is to call 1-877-560-6477. That is Disney's Mail order merchandise line and they will set you up. I just called them to exchange my tire cover for a smaller one.

So it seems that if they theme it up a little bit and enforce all rules evenly that would fix it for most people?

So to turn this around a little bit what would it take to make it like the "good old days"?
    Bring back:
Log benches, tree trunk trash cans, the covered wagon by the settlement trading post, an updated swimming pool and the wilderness trails?
Anything else?  (I didn't mention the petting zoo, because we're from Iowa and as my wife says if I want to pet a goat I can just go down the road!)
Would you want the breakfast cart that went around to the different loops?
I'm just curious as to what would make it feel like it used to be?

Since people have brought up expanding the Fort with more camp sites I'll bring this up.  Jim Hill over on the Unofficial Guide Blog mentioned that once the huts on the water by the Wilderness Lodge are done the construction people will move down to River Country and will at least do the ground work for a new 5 story DVC on that site with a River Country theme.  Take it with any amount of salt that you want.  :)
