  1. Speaking of counting the days! We just made my son a paper loop timeline-thing-a-ma-jig. We take a loop off each morning after his diaper change. Hoping that it helps him get an idea for how long it'll take until we leave. Our camper is still at storage. It's winterized until we leave for this trip. I'm taking it to my in-laws next week for Thanksgiving so that my father-in-law and I can do some work on it. Namely new stabilizers and a fabricating a bike rack for the king pin.
  2. You definitely want to ride the Epcot monorail when the Christmas decorations are up. You'll ride right past the big Epcot Christmas tree. It used to be really cool back when they had the Lights of Winter display. TCD Thanks for the tip! I don't think we would have thought of that.
  3. We do. When we were in Orlando over the summer, we didn't do any park days, but we did spend quite a bit of time on the Monorail. Even did the one that goes in over Epcot. Monorail, boats, buses- we did the whole gamut.
  4. Agreed. By the time we spent all of the time at Hoop Dee Doo- we would have missed a big chunk of the MVMCP. The silliest thing- my son is most excited about the monorail. He asks (no lie) 15+ times a day if we're going to Disney solely because he wants to ride the monorail.
  5. Unruly and underage golf cart drivers at the fort. I hear tigers are like sharks- they can smell blood from miles away. AK pricks someone's finger and the tigers go looking for it.
  6. So interestingly enough- I actually would love to know the answer to this. When I ordered my MVMCP tickets and are having them mailed to me. They have to make it from Florida to Maryland in 10 days, but my only concern is that they don't mail them in a timely manner and they show up after we've already left.
  7. Well, duh! If it helps, I'm going to have to work for most of the trip. I'm really bummed about that! But really - the Disney visit is new and unplanned. My wife really wanted to do the MVMCP and I really like making her happy. :) My daughter asked if we could do the Hoop Dee Doo Revue for her birthday. She remembered seeing the place it's at for our overnight at FW in the summer, but we didn't have reservations. I tried staying at FW, even contacted Jason who worked to find me dates, but I just can't justify the cost when I can stay at the TT park for free. This trip really has me in the
  8. I haven't been significantly south of there. There's a Thousand Trails/Outdoor World campground that we go to down there called Harborview near Colonial Beach, VA. I honestly dislike the Nice bridge more than any other that I've been on (Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel). Heck, I'll even take tunnels over that bridge any day.
  9. Sadly we aren't staying at the fort, but I just made reservations/ordered tickets for the Hoop Dee Doo Revue and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in a couple of weeks! We'll leave from there and stop in Miami for 2 nights and then onto Key West for a week+ before heading home.
  10. So seriously- is that the east or west direction on 295? The only bridge I truly fear is Rt. 301 from MD to VA called the Harry P. Nice bridge. Let me tell you- it's brut get hairy nor nice.
  11. Glad to hear I'm not alone. The splash park was nice for the little ones, but my little guy always wants to be with his big sister so we didn't get a whole lot of use out of it.
  12. Wilde Lake but lived in Oakland Mills when we first moved here from York, PA. It's such A Small World After All!
  13. For 295, is that the east side or west side? I ask because in 2012, I took the camper down 95 thru Jacksonville about 3pm. It was literally the second most intense driving experience of my life (and this coming from someone who lives dab smack between Washington, DC and Baltimore). I did it again this past June and it wasn't so bad, but I've seen recommendations recently for taking 295 on the east side to bypass 95 in Jacksonville.
  14. Am I the only one that was fairly under-whelmed with the Fort Wilderness pool vs. many of the other WDW resort pools?
  15. The Foam Factory (www.foambymail.com) has great prices and customer service. I've used them 2 or 3 times now for bunk mattresses and replacement cushions fort dinette.
  16. There's always the Automated Safety Hitch behind the van. Links: http://www.traveltoast.com/2010/12/top-10-questions-we-get-about-the-safety-hitch/ http://fifthwheelst.com/automated-safety-hitch-system.html :)
  17. Here you go: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0AvEDJnVFaozKdDVLSF9UZ1JXQ1JpamM0UzFicUFodEE&authuser=0 It's a bit outdated. It has columns for the things that were important to us at the time. And interestingly enough, my wife found our camper after we created the spreadsheet.
  18. Agreed, and as far as WDW transportation, excluding MK, as there is no bus, the bus to the other destinations is the only option. There's always private taxis.
  19. So...here's mine: What you have (i.e. Class A, TT, 5th wheel): 42' bunkhouse fifth wheel (Sabre 36QBOK) If you're towing (so TT or 5th wheel) how heavy is it: between 13,500-14,500 pound fifth wheel (the truck + camper come in around 22,000 pounds) If you tow, what is your tow vehicle: 2012 Ram 3500 Dual Rear Wheel, 4x4, with 4.10 gears, and a long bed Gas mileage: 8.5-11.5 mpg towing, 12-15 not towing (I generally tow at 61-63.) Do you like it, love it or hate it: or. It is what it is- I hoped for better, but it's a big truck and camper. If you'd like to make a change, change to wha
  20. Beautiful guys! We pull a camper about the same length and were able park down in the 200 loop. It was cozy, but not awful- the approach to the site really helped. I'm always so jealous seeing the couples campers. We're stuck with bunkhouses for the foreseeable future. This is exactly the layout that my inlaws like.
  21. Glad to hear it is fixed. Like mentioned before, that commonly happens in the spring when people don't have their bypass valves right and let cold water mingle into the hot water. In fact, it's a little known trick to adjusting the water temperature out of the water heater. Crack your bypass valve open just slightly and it lets cold water in that mixes as it comes thru the lines.
