Travisma got a reaction from BradyBzLyn...Mo in Destination D Announcements
    https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2018/11/19/everything-disney-is-bringing-to-orlando-announced-at-last-weekends-destination-d-event

Some of these have already been discussed in other sections such as the oh so lovely Reflections abomination....
Everything Disney is bringing to Orlando announced at last weekend's Destination D event
Last weekend was the biennial Destination D event at Walt Disney World and, as expected, it was packed from beginning to end with plenty of news on upcoming attractions for the American resorts.

Hosted in the years in between the larger D23 Expos, Destination D is a smaller, more relaxed convention with the focus more directly tied to Disney Parks and Resorts. Many of the projects teased at last year’s D23 Expo were mentioned at this past weekend’s Destination D event.

We already knew Epcot would be getting a massive overhaul to make it “more timeless, more relevant, and more Disney.” We also knew about a few of the larger attractions coming to the park, including a new Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster and a new screen based trackless Ratatouille dark ride.

Image via Disney At this weekend’s Destination D event, it was confirmed that the name of the Ratatouille ride will be Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. This seems to be a simplified version of the dozen names seen on a leaked survey from a few months ago.

Staying in the France Pavilion, we also learned about yet another intellectual property making its way into the educational park that once had zero such offerings. “Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along,” a new interactive sing-along similar to the Frozen one found in Hollywood Studios, will share the current theater with “Impressions de France” and will run multiple times per day. Famed producer Don Hahn, who oversaw both Disney Beauty and the Beast films along with other modern Disney classics like The Lion King and Fantasia 2000, will oversee the production of the new attraction.

The previously announced update to the China pavilion’s Circle-Vision 360 that will feature seamless screens was reconfirmed at Destination D, and a brand-new film for Canada’s Circle-Vision 360 attraction was also announced, though few details on either film were shared.
Image via Disney Parks Blog Concept art for the new Epcot nighttime spectaular Another strongly rumored project was also finally confirmed for Epcot. The long-anticipated replacement for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth was given a 2020 debut, roughly six months to a year after the previously announced closure of the current Illuminations show. Just as numerous Disney-watchers had previously guessed, the new show will have a heavy dose of Disney properties. It will use pyrotechnics, fountains, large float set pieces on the World Showcase lagoon, lasers, custom-designed LED screens and other technology that, according to Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek, is “a worldwide celebration of Disney music.” A preview video of an early working concept for the new nighttime show was previewed exclusively at the event; it featured clips from Moana, Coco, Aladdin, Brave, Dumbo and other films. The video began with a sound clip from Moana with various versions of the song in different languages fading together to create a multi-lingual clip.

In between the closure of Illuminations and the launch of the new Disney music-focused show, a special “Epcot Forever” show will take place. Some fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the new plans for Epcot, with one fan saying, “It feels like they are staging an Epcot in Memoriam with Epcot Forever, and just moving away from the original concept for good with the new Fireworks.”

Chapek also spoke earlier in the week at the International Attractions Expo, where he shared never-before-seen concept art of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride vehicles and shared a short video of the cars being tested, confirming rumors that the roller coaster ride vehicles will sit on a moving platform with 360-degree movement, four seats per vehicle, and stadium-style seating with the back two seats slightly higher than the front seats.
Photo via Disney Moving just outside of Epcot, Disney showcased one of the gondolas that will be seen on the Disney Skyliner and confirmed that the new urban gondola transit system will open “within the next year.” Still unclear is whether the gondolas will include any type of onboard air-cooling system.

Hopping on the Skyliner for the estimated 11-minute trip from Epcot to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we stop just before the halfway point at the new Riviera Resort, one of three resorts with stations along the Skyliner routes. In a post on the Disney Parks Blog linked to an identical announcement at Destination D, we finally learned some of the inspiration behind the new Disney Vacation Club resort.

The new concept art shows what the new resort’s pool complex will entail. Overlooking the 45-acre man-made Barefoot Bay lake, the new pool complex replaces the theming typical of a Disney resort for a more elegant and symmetrical design. A walkway along the waterfront provides seating areas and views of the nearby Skyliner.

Image via Disney At Disney’s Hollywood Studios much of the focus was on the new Star Wars land slated to open in late fall of 2019. Both of the names for the two attractions found within the new land were released: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The Millennium Falcon ride, previously known by codenamesBig Bird and The Carousel, will be an interactive hyper-real cockpit experience where guests navigate the Millennium Falcon in teams of six. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, previously known by codename Alcatraz, will have trackless ride vehicles that put guests in the middle of a battle where they come face to face with Kylo Ren. As reported last week by the New York Times, it was confirmed the Rise of the Resistance ride will have roughly four dozen animatronics.

John Williams, the renowned composer of the original Star Wars score, is working with Disney on new music for the land, and one of the scores was previewed during the event announcement. The London Symphony Orchestra recorded the new original music at Abbey Road Studios. The video accompaniment showed resort construction footage and previously unseen computer renderings of the two rides.
Image via Disney The Star Wars hotel's main guest drop-off area We also received the most details yet for the upcoming Star Wars multi-day experiences. Renderings of the guest drop-off area, bus loading bay, and multiple interior areas of the Star Wars hotel were shared. The concept art seems to confirm permits that were recently shared online, which show a jetway-like bridge linking the hotel to the shuttle buses.
Image via Disney Concept art for Disney's upcoming Star Wars hotel It’s believed that the buses will not have any windows, allowing Disney to keep guests fully immersed within the Star Wars universe.

The “Wonderful World of Animation,”a new nighttime spectacular for Hollywood Studios, was also announced. Using projection mapping, fireworks and other special effects, the new show will celebrate Disney’s rich history of animation. It was one of the only announcements with a hard date attached to it, debuting May 1, just in time for DHS’s 30th Anniversary.
Image via Disney Parks Blog Wonderful World of Animation coming soon to Hollywood Studios A large part of the Wonderful World of Animation will be projection mapped onto the Chinese Theater, where a new Mickey Mouse dark ride, Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, is currently under construction. The iconic horn sound used in the Steamboat Willie cartoon will be heard on the new attraction, here being used as a train whistle. Models and merchandise for the new attraction were shown at the expo, and Chapek confirmed it will open in “about one year.”

Photo via The Disney Blog Over on Bay Lake, we finally have a name for the previously announced 900-room hotel that will be located between Fort Wilderness and the Wilderness Lodge. Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge will have both regular rooms and DVC suites. The newly released logo keeps with the modern, zen-like design that was previously confirmed for the nature-focused resort.

In the Magic Kingdom, Mickey Mouse's 90th birthday will be celebrated with Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration. The nine-month-long celebration begins in mid-January and will include unique entertainment, merchandise and original food items.

Not all of the focus at Destination D was on WDW. A new nighttime spectacular and an updated parade, both Mickey Mouse-focused, were announced for Disneyland along with a celebration similar to the one announced for the Magic Kingdom.

Mickey’s birthday will also be celebrated on the high seas with the Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Party at Sea deck party on the Disney Fantasy cruise ship.

Notably missing from this year’s announcements were the rumored Mary Poppins and Coco attractions for Epcot, the Indiana Jones mini-landthought to be heading to DHS, and the previously announced mixed-use plans for Flamingo Crossings. With the exception of Flamingo Crossings, all of those rumored projects post-date the WDW 50th Anniversary in 2021. All of the announcements at this year’s Destination D event will open ahead of 2021. It’s thought that next year’s D23 Expo will include new details for many of post-2021 plans in the works for WDW.

Renowned chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck is taking another stab at Disney Springs.

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill opened today, which makes this celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck's fourth Bar & Grill location and his second restaurant to open at Disney Springs.

The new restaurant will follow the lead of the other three, offering a laid-back California dining experience complete with a casual lunch and dinner menu featuring Puck's signature handmade pastas, pizzas, seafood and steak.
The 250-seat restaurant offers a seated patio with a pizza bar, as well as a walk-up window where customers can order gelato and homemade pastries.

Puck previously owned Wolfgang Puck Cafe before it closed in 2017.

Nothing about Disney or Universal, still an interesting but long read...

Wonder if the Mommy Bloggers get invited to this convention??
Everything that will matter to Orlando at this year's IAAPA Attractions Expo
The annual Attractions Expo is the flagship convention for the Orlando-based International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.

The conference kicks off today with the trade floor opening tomorrow morning. Last year’s conference saw more than 38,000 attendees and the numbers this year are expected to be even higher.

While Disney and Universal typically skip making big announcements during the event, many other industry leaders use it to make their biggest announcements of the year.

This year looks to be no different.
Tomorrow at 10:15 a.m., the slew of press conferences begin with SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment up first. The press conference will start in the IAAPA Central booth before heading to both the Skyline Attractions booth and the Premier Rides booth. Over the course of the press event, SeaWorld will reveal new details regarding SeaWorld Orlando’s Super Grover’s Box Car Derby (the coaster formerly known as the Shamu Express), SeaWorld San Diego’s Tidal Twister ride (produced by Skyline), SeaWorld San Antonio’s Turtle Reef mini-land, Busch Gardens Williamsburg’s Finnegan’s Flyer, and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Tigris ride (built by Premier Rides) will all be revealed during the two-hour long multi-booth press event.

Up next is Jacksonville-based Sally Corporation who is expected to announce a new Sesame Street-themed dark ride slated for a park in Spain. Early press kits include a number of hints pointing to Sesame Street. This likely isn’t the rumored dark ride that was once thought to be a part of the upcoming SeaWorld Orlando Sesame Street land.

A mid-afternoon joint press conference with Daniels Wood Land and Madame Tussauds likely isn’t anything related to their Orlando attraction, but popular concepts tested at some Madame Tussauds museums are often repeated at other locations.

Dynamic Attractions, who has a large design office in Orlando, is also a key vendor to watch on Tuesday. Their groundbreaking new attractions regularly win awards at the expo and are always some of the most talked about. The company is promising that tomorrow’s announcement “will forever change the company and the prominence of its high-tech rides around the world.”
Wednesday morning begins with a major press event for Legoland Florida, where they will give new details on their upcoming LEGO Movie World and the flying theater attraction currently under construction there. As the first flying theater in the Southeast outside of Walt Disney World, all eyes on how well the new attraction is received at Legoland. If the Legoland attraction proves successful, many expect similar attractions throughout parks nationwide. Legoland is going with a vendor who has never before opened on their lower-cost flying theaters in the United States.

Just after the Legoland event, TrioTech who will be announcing details on a new partnership with Ubisoft and will be unveiling an updated version of their highly successful coin-operated roller coaster simulator, Typhoon.

Also on Wednesday, expect a press conferences by roller coaster design company The Gravity Group, Tampa Bay-based arena event company Feld Entertainment, and ticketing/queue technology company accesso.

Feld is rumored to be announcing a new partnership with Cedar Fair parks for a Monster Jam-branded roller coaster attraction. New details on the recently opened Trolls experience and the upcoming Jurassic World arena show may also be mentioned during their press event.

Orlando-based Falcon’s Creative Group close out Wednesday with a late afternoon press event where they will give details on a major new partnership. Falcon’s will also be showcasing their recently launched custom designed augmented reality headsets that are designed to meet the grueling demands of theme park settings.

Thursday and Friday see far fewer locally related press events though the Arihant Water Park Equipment event Thursday afternoon will likely generate some buzz as they’re slated to announce multiple unique water slide attraction concepts.

Beyond the specific press conferences, this year’s Attractions Expo looks to be yet another year dominated by virtual and augment reality. Numerous press releases already point to many competing VR and AR concepts with battery life, multiple player options, and hyper-real graphics being the main focus. Zip lines and other lower budget thrill options also seem to be as popular as ever. ZipFlyer, Walltopia, and Extreme Engineering are all planning to unveil new zip line products at this year’s expo.

An increasing presence at the expo are companies designed to track and process guest data in useful ways. Australian-based Luboo will be showcased at the expo for the very first time. The company specializes in smart wristbands that can be used to find missing children and can viewed as a possible competitor to accesso, who has seen less than stellar reviews from their Tapu Tapu system at Universal’s Volcano Bay.

Over the next three years significant additions are headed to nearly every single theme park in the U.S. so there are plenty of new projects and details of previously announced projects that could be shared at this year’s event, but with many Orlando projects already well underway this looks to be a year with few Orlando-related surprise announcements.

However, that doesn’t mean the press events for Dynamic Attractions, SeaWorld, Legoland, and Falcon’s Creative should be overlooked. These and the others mentioned here point to a healthy future for Central Florida’s biggest industry even before we know all the specifics of what the week will bring.

Orlando's theme park watering holes boast brews you won’t find in any ordinary bar
    Roll out the barrel
    By Seth Kubersky

Everyone knows that Walt Disney famously eschewed alcohol sales when opening his original theme park in Anaheim, for fear that Disneyland would become a fairground full of drunken delinquents. But did you know that Walt Disney World might have been built in St. Louis instead of Central Florida, if brewing baron August Busch Jr. hadn't called Walt crazy for refusing to serve beer?
Walt was no teetotaler, but he could always sneak off to his private apartment above Main Street's firehouse for a Scotch Mist, and he certainly never had to stand in a three-hour queue for Flight of Passage while sober.
Fortunately, today's tourists can pound a pint of bright-green Hawke's Grog Ale (brewed by Terrapin Beer Co., and tastier than it looks) while they wait for Animal Kingdom's Pandora rides, or enjoy any number of other exclusive imbibing experiences inside each of Orlando's major attractions.
Unless you're an annual passholder, the cover charges may make you choke, but these theme park watering holes boast E-Ticket brews you won't find in any ordinary bar.
    WALT DISNEY WORLD
Epcot's World Showcase has long been ground zero for theme park drinking (our MO is to start with a Black & Tan at the Rose & Crown Pub and stumble 'round counter-clockwise), while Animal Kingdom – in addition to the aforementioned Avatar ales – pours Old Elephant Foot IPA and African lagers at Nomad Lounge. Mickey has loosened the Magic Kingdom's anti-alcohol edict, at least inside table-service restaurants, but you still can't stroll the park sipping suds; Adventureland's Jungle Navigation Co. Skipper Canteen, which serves the resort-exclusive Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale, is your best bet for beer sans reservations. And a year from now, we'll all be drinking fermented Bantha milk inside Batuu, but until then BaseLine Tap House (located just outside the upcoming Star Wars land's entrance) is the hottest hangout at Disney's Hollywood Studios; select your own four-sample flight of Californian craft beers, pair it with a hot Bavarian pretzel, and watch for the Jedi fanboys to start lining up.
If park admission isn't in your budget, park for free at Disney Springs' Lime garage and settle in at the Polite Pig, which is pouring Cask & Larder Ales and Porters brewed by Larry Foor inside the Ravenous Pig.
    UNIVERSAL ORLANDO
Harry Potter's Butterbeer might not give you a buzz, but the Hogwarts Express train ride that connects his two Wizarding World areas inside Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure is the most beer-friendly theme park attraction we know of. Not only will they sell you a brew in the queue, but they'll let you drink it during the ride; we recommend grabbing a Wizard's Brew chocolate stout from Diagon Alley's Hopping Pot before hopping in line.
USF's Simpsons-inspired Springfield is home to Moe's Tavern and Duff Brewery, where the seasonal Dufftoberfest märzenbier is currently on tap. Volcano Bay's signature Volcano Blossom fruity pilsner is brewed locally by Orange Blossom Brewery.
Outside the parks, the fermentation tanks in CityWalk's NBC Sports Grill & Brew are fake, but Florida Beer Co.'s 862 IPA is only available here; ask what's in the bar's Beer Engine hand-pumped firkin. And serious beer enthusiasts should sign up for Jake's Beer Dinners at the Royal Pacific Resort, multi-course paired meals highlighting craft breweries from Abita to Walking Tree. The next events are Dec. 7 and Dec. 31.
    SEAWORLD
SeaWorld was known as a suds-seeker's paradise during the Anheuser-Busch ownership era, back when the Budweiser Clydesdales were as much mascots of the park as Shamu.
The attraction's brand suffered badly in the wake of Blackfish, but has rebounded recently, buoyed in no small part by beer-based promotions. It began with the return of free beer (featuring the park-exclusive Mako Red Lager) at Mama's Pretzel Kitchen over the summer.
The recently opened Waterway Grill, located alongside the brand-new Infinity Falls raft ride, pours Motorworks Brewing's Midnight Espresso Porter, plus a dozen more rotating craft beers; annual passholders should ask about the refillable stein program.
Finally, this summer's first-ever SeaWorld Craft Beer Festival, offering samples of more than 100 drafts from local breweries like Crooked Can and Orlando Brewing, has been a success; it wraps up this weekend on Sunday, Nov. 11.

My oldest daughter turns 40 on 11/5 and since she was going to be visiting WDW this past weekend we decided to surprise her with this on Saturday morning.  My wife and her attended, while myself another daughter and granddaughter hung out and watched the grand re-opening of World of Disney.
While waiting I had the breakfast poutine.  That is a must have if you're at Disney Springs in the morning!

This is an old description, because they now have the classes on Fridays and Saturdays also for a total of 6 per week.  Not sure what other day they dropped.
They come around 3 times with refreshments (drinks) and you get a goodie bag to take home besides the cake.  Theirs had a box of macarons and a Mickey shaped brownie.
They both had a great time, and said it was interesting.
My daughter originally thought her surprise was we got her to be the Grand Marshal in the MK parade.

You’ll gather in Amorette’s Show Kitchen before the shop officially opens for the day―the very same place Disney pastry artists skillfully blend artistry with storytelling in order to create some of the most enchanting confections around.
During this small-group lesson, your instructor will share insider stories and tips, while describing the process of cake decorating from design to completion. You’ll learn how to pour glaçage and coat Mickey’s sculpted ears, tail, belt and buttons with edible paint.
Best part? Non-alcoholic and alcoholic refreshments are included during this experience―and you can take your masterpiece home or back to your hotel to share with family and friends, along with a gift from Amorette’s Patisserie as a reward for your artistic efforts. Imho, the cabins are definitely not worth the cost for a family of 4 or below unless you have a CM discount or your sharing with another family.  I’m sure Disney knows this since the majority of the time, there are many empty cabins.  As far as other Disney resorts go, besides the value resorts, I can not afford them so I can’t comment if they are worth the price.  I will say, I know most of the rooms at the higher end resorts are your basic hotel room with upgrades like a new tv like every other resort in the world. The contemporary is a great example. I suppose with that resort, you are paying for the convenience of the location. For well over $500 a night, your paying for something.  Living close to WDW makes us locals look at things differently....I think.  I have friends up north who save all year for that magic vacation that may take 5-6 grand out of your wallet, so I guess it’s a deal for them.  I know at the moment since I’m trying to plan a once in a lifetime trip to Disneyland next year. I don’t think it’s going to happen due to price.  This is why I complain about the cost of the campsites now going so high. A once a year trip to the best campground in the country may seem ok to pay a high price, but to a local who wanted to get away from time to time to visit Disney on a budget is now gone and will never come back

Yup, turning into county and state fairs with drunks wandering around, and carnies trying to get every last dime out of you.  Except they are called CMs.

You can purchase the dole whip pineapple and orange mixes on Amazon.  Then you just need some sort of ice cream machine.

I wish they had a senior ticket that just got you into the parks and the shows.  You could pay extra if you wanted to go on rides.  Sort of like the good old days where you paid for admission and bought a ticket book.

I know that people who have been visiting Disney for years can become jaded with all of the upcharges, money grubbing schemes, etc and lament for the good old days.
I'll admit, I'm one of them.
And as much as I hate to see the prices going up and up, if you break down what you get for your $$, it's still a pretty good deal.  Compare the cost of  Disney with going to a county or state fair with their sketchy, maybe properly maintained rides and overpriced foods.  Or see how much a boat or train ride would cost you elsewhere.
And Disney's costs for everything from paperclips, to wages, to utilities have risen also.  And yes their ticket prices have risen a lot higher that various cost of living increases, but people still come.
I just wish that if they want to do all of their extra priced dinner/desert party options, that they set aside (or build) special areas for them, and stop intruding into areas that used to be open to everyone.

Splurge and get one at Harbor Freight when they are on sale.
They are fun to play with.
I got one to check the stone temps in my pizza oven.
And now my wife uses it to check the temps of her heat press.
It even has a laser pointer built in to help you aim it.
