Fulltimers/Parttimers
DaveInTN replied to devores's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I think I would like the lifestyle someday, but we would probably need to keep the stick house for DW to feel secure about things....to have a "home base" to return to. About two years ago we took a 3+ week trip around the northeast in the RV. That was one of the best times ever. We'd love to plan a longer trip out west at some point. But with the kids our age we won't be doing anything longer any time soon. -

Wrapped in bacon, grilled till slightly charred, then glazed with honey. Hey, remember? Everything is good with bacon or honey...or bacon AND honey! -

Let's talk ice cream
DaveInTN replied to doodlebug....Cherie's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
That's tough not to do when working on the road. The problem with Courtyard's and Residence Inn's are those darn quickie marts. Too tempting. Now for me, my favorite ice cream is Kirkland Super Premium Vanilla from Costco. That stuff is so rich! I love it plain, or with a little hot fudge. Or if I'm feeling really crazy I'd stir some Grape Nuts into it. -
Ok, I'm back on my computer tonight so here are some pictures of our dinner there... The inside of the restaurant: DW's starter drink...some sort of Peach cocktail: Our salad: Arancini appetizer: Pizza Margherita: The family pepperoni pizza: It was DD's birthday, so they brought this out for her after the meal: This was one of our favorite meals of the trip. :'(

Picnic tables near Trails End?
DaveInTN replied to Judy in Texas's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
We love getting a Giddyap n go and eating on a picnic table on the porch outside Crockets. There are also picnic tables near/along the beach that you can eat at. We've never had a problem. Also, I think you can eat at the round umbrella tables at the marina. At least I've never seen a sign saying you can't.... -

Awesome! I have some other pics from that dinner. Will try to post sometime. We had the arancini as well, which is worth trying.

Great Smokey Jellystone, Gatlinburg, TN
DaveInTN replied to DaveInTN's topic in Pictures from other Campgrounds
No, I don't think so. That's the one thing with this campground. It's pretty far outside of town. If you are looking for a nice campground in Gatlinburg itself, check out Twin Creek resort. -
maybe an east coast thing? I've never heard of them. I stole this definition. The white hot is a variation on the hot dog found in Rochester, New York, and the upstate area.[1] It is composed of some combination of uncured and unsmoked pork, beef, and veal; the lack of smoking or curing allows the meat to retain a naturally white color.[2] White hots usually contain mustard and other spices, and often include a dairy component such as nonfat dry milk. The white hot originated in the 1920s[citation needed] in Rochester's German community as a "white and porky"[1] alternative to high-price red
