  1. There is a huge animatronic Yeti. When it is in 'A' mode, it actually moves and swipes at the train. When it is in 'B' mode it doesn't move, but strobe lights flash to make it appear to move. The last time I rode it, the strobe light wasn't even working. Apparently, the Yeti's movement is actually tearing itself apart or tearing up it's structure, not sure which. (This ride was really complicated. The mountain, the Yeti, and the track had to be indepently structured from each other cause the movement of the train would cause the mountain structure to crack, the movement of the Yeti would ca
  2. We'll be there March 15th - 20th. Not sure how much park going we'll be doing though.
  3. Yes it is. Somebody has put some type of command in there that I'm sure tries to maximize the occupancy by only allowing stays of certain lengths when occupancy gets to a certain level. For example, when things are first released for the first two weeks, everything is wide open, then when weekends get filled up to a certain percentage, you can't book weekend only, you have to book longer to get a weekend. (They are trying to encourage longer stays to avoid empty weeks and booked up weekends). I think they are also trying to avoid 1 night empty here and there cause when I'm trying to get days
  4. I drove through the Gulf Shores State Park campground and it looked really nice, and took the Dauphin Island Ferry, but didn't see the campground near there. I camped in Gulf Shores in January and loved being on the water. It was really nice. A small private campground.
  5. I always use a travel agent (Rhonda!!!) in conjunction with the online system. For reservations that are further out, I simply email Rhonda, she takes care of it and looks for discounts. For my "I gotta get to the Fort NOW" reservations, I cajole and play with the online reservation system myself, (just don't feel right having her spend all day online cause I don't plan) and am persistent checking 4 and 5 times a day and make multiple reservations that overlap and at different levels of sites and drive my credit card security department crazy and then when I get what I want, I cancel what I d
  6. Yeah, that's why my reading is limited to airplanes and lunch break at the hotel. Don't fire up the laptop on the plane and I leave it at the office for lunch. Otherwise, I've been here!!!!
  7. The Pet Cemetary at the exit to Haunted Mansion...... I have a funny story about that too. A bunch of us were exiting HM together and were all taking pictures of Mr. Toad back there and some folks rushed past and heard us talking about him and groused "Some folks have too much time on their hands" That's what Disney is about, the DETAILS!!!!
  8. Holy Crap!! How the hell did you know that I remember when they announced Toad was closing down and there was a HUGE campaign to Save Mr. Toads Wild Ride. There were Toad Ins and lots of Save Toad shirts and cards made. Everyone was also asked to ask everywhere they could where Toad merchandise was and there was a HUGE run on the Disney store pins with Mr. Toad.
  9. Just do like everyone else and make him do it by himself....Not I have run the Pack Derby and I have made more derby cars than I can count. It is great fun though. Absolutely!! Let the Cub do whatever he wants to the block!! (Now, dad needs to polish the wheels and the nails, weigh it on a NASA scale to be heavier than 5 oz and make it easy to back down to exactly 5 oz on "their" scale and place it in wind tunnels), then build your own car for the parents race!!!!
  10. Agreed, I grew up swimming, lifeguarding, and still have lifeguard certification through BSA and rarely go swimming anymore. I've found I can't turn "off" being on lifeguard duty with other folks around and it's no fun. For sure, buddy system is the only way to go!!!!
  11. So far the stuff on my Nook is purely "junk" I've bought the Calder Series by Janet Dailey, then whatever free Harlequins I can find on there :-) I read on airplanes and when I come back to the hotel for lunch.
  12. OK folks, trying to get a Fort Reservation from the 15th - 20th of March. Last minute change due to work. I have managed to piece together a premium for 2 nights starting the 15th and 2 nights starting the 18th. So I have one night in the middle missing. There is a preferred site available on the 17th. Should I book that preferred and hope that they will take pity on me and rearrange stuff so I don't have to move, or should I leave that night empty and hope that they will take pity on me and find me a premium site?? Obviously, I will keep checking several times a day for a premium opening for
  13. Brides are BROKE cause they just spent all that money on the wedding, so they HAVE to snatch food from unsuspecting campers!!! :rofl2: :siren:
  14. Thanks SHAN!!! This is great!! Can't wait to get back to my home computer so I can play with this again!!!!!! (Can't load Google Earth on the work puter)
