5th Wheel Hitch
ftwildernessguy replied to 3/5th Wheel's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
When you watch a video like this with those two morons, you can understand why the people staying at the Lodge don't want to share a boat with the "camping people." I wonder what these idiots do for a living. Makes me worry about America. -

Be sure to park next to a storm sewer drain so you can dump your tanks. -
I hear the maid throws loose Legos on the floor of the room for parents to step on just to make it feel more like home.

I go one further and spend a good two week vacation in the local Wally World parking lot. You really can't get the feel of all the extras in a new trailer or MOHO unless you do it all. Open the awnings, open the slides, set up the grill and lawn chairs. And doing it at Wally World saves you the trouble of driving there. Just a short walk across the lot and BAM! You're there! -

TRex is offering Breakfast with Santa
ftwildernessguy replied to AuburnJen's topic in Dining Reviews and Information
This is ridiculous. Everybody knows if Santa and the dinosaurs existed at the same time, the dinosaurs would eat the reindeer, and santo wouldn't give them any presents. -

ST or LT
ftwildernessguy replied to twiceblessed....nacole's topic in RV Repairs on the Road, at FW and Elsewhere
That's a load of crap. You need to contact a trailer fabrication shop. Misaligned axles, while not frequent, are not uncommon, either. The axle mount would need to be rewelded to the trailer frame. -

With an uneven wear pattern, your issue may be with an axle misalignment. Re. A fifth wheel, don't assume you won't have tire issues there. I have seen more fivers on the side of the road with tire failure than bumper pulls. -

Despite all the bad press re. Chinese tires, I have run them successfully many years. I just replaced the Powerking tires my Outback came with a year ago due to age. Any tire can fail. The most important things - maintain the correct tire pressures, keeps your speed down (like bhall said) and don't overload your trailer. I keep my speed at 55. It may take me a little longer to get to the Fort, but I still get there. I could care less if I get passed on the highway or not. -

Ah, where is Larry when you need him? You have opened Pandoras Box. ST vs LT is a real controversy. Re. Mileage, however, tires time our before they wear out. Check the DOT number on the sidewall. The last 4 digits represent the week and year of manufacture. It is not unusual for trailer tires to sit around in a warehouse for a couple years before being used on a new trailer, so your tires may be much older than the trailer itself. -
I have never heard of this, but I do have a tasty fall adult beverage for you. 1 tsp pumpkin butter 8 ounces Apple cider double shot maple infused Jim Beam mix it all together. Can be served hot or over ice. The hard part is finding the pumpkin butter. I located some at a farm stand locally. It is one of our favorite fall drinks.

Did Disney build Fort Wilderness?
ftwildernessguy replied to ependydad...Doug's topic in Disney and Fort Construction
There was a camp there with a rustic a cabin, some in the Internet world of Disney have dubbed it "Roy's Cabin" and I have heard that Roy and company stayed there when the World was in its planning stages. The campground has an interesting history and was part of the original plan Walt had for WDW, but was all but forgotten until much of the construction of the World was well nearing completion. It was rather hastily built in order to open shortly after the official opening of MK. The crew had to beg borrow and steal supplies in order to build the campground. The Settlement area and the l -
Switching to LED lights
ftwildernessguy replied to bdm's topic in General Camping Discussion and Questions
I redid all the incandescents in our trailer a couple years ago except for the lights over the bed, only because I liked the regular bulbs there. I have a voltmeter in one of the outlets and the savings in electric use was amazing. I suppose that only really matters if you boondock, which I sometimes do. -

I believe the last RV featured there was a Coachmen Leprechaun class C. It was there for a couple years.
